Search has seriously hiccuped in a new and different way in the last couple hours. Now, on clicking "search this forum", the box is brought up at the bottom of the forum, instead of the top. Then, when I go to advanced search, the search that is returned has two blank columns - replies and views. Further, I don't think it is returning all results. It's hard for me to believe there is not a single thread covering the Airport Hilton or the Hilton on the Park in Melbourne, Australia.

This confirms in your case that the Search function does not work properly because the threads do exist.

search function is down...guess it's not just me?
if you want a specific example, try going to the spg forum and searching for the moana surfrider thread. if you get that (i didn't) try searching it for the word 'restaurants'. since the word exists in the very first post on the thread, it should be able to find it. i keep getting messages that there is nothing found to match my search request.
thanks for working on it, we're always grateful for upgrades, it's just so damn frustrating when the site doesn't work.

Nothing found to match your search request
Reason: Your search terms were not found
Possible Cause: You may have searched for something our search engine has never seen before. Try using a simpler form of the word, for example if you searched for the word "fishes", try revising your search with the simplistic form "fish" instead.
Possible Cause: You may have searched for something that was missed by the indexer. In this case, if you know for certain your search should have found results, notify us and we will rebuild the appropriate portion of the index.
Please try revising your search terms and try again. If you believe your search terms should be returning results, please create a post in the user support forum, detailing exactly what you were searching for and an idea of what you feel it should be returning for results.
With your feedback, we can improve this search tool to be the best it can be!

There may even be some TSA-approved hugging and high-fiving going on back there behind the X-ray machines. It sounds farfetched, I know. Especially if you’re one of the many travelers who regularly ends up feeling demeaned and harassed at airport checkpoints and believes that the TSA only hires sticky-fingered miscreants who are missing the genes for courtesy and respect. The folks at TSA are well aware of that reputation. If they forget, they’re constantly reminded of it by news reports and by travelers who complain about their experiences in person, via e-mail ([email protected]) or by phone (1-866-289-9673.) In an effort to address a variety of problems and improve overall checkpoint security, the TSA in October rolled out a new skills training program. It’s called Engage! (exclamation point included!) and all 50,000 TSA workers are required to attend. The initial system-wide training should wrap up in the next few weeks, so it’s a fair bet you’ve already encountered a few graduates of the course. Have you noticed any changes? I wasn’t sure what to look for, or what was realistic to expect, so I said yes when invited to join 28 TSA workers from Seattle-Tacoma International Airport in a windowless room at the main terminal for their two-day intensive. I left feeling both reassured and alarmed. Job one: Not customer service The class I attend starts (at 5 a.m.!) with a few words from a local TSA manager who tells the surprisingly alert group that while the TSA is not in the business of customer service, “where you do whatever you can to make the customer happy,” it’s certainly possible to be “professional and polite and still get the job done. … It’s all about how we approach it.” Then it’s down to the business of changing how these TSA workers approach what they do. First, it’s time for introductions. And, contrary to what many travelers believe, it turns out that the TSA ranks are not filled entirely by prison guard rejects from the state penitentiary. At least not this group. The pre-TSA job titles here range from barista, lab technician, homemaker and physical therapist to small business owner, truck driver and police detective. There are a fair number of retired military personnel here as well. And most everyone says they decided to switch careers in response to the events surrounding the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks. In case anyone in the class has forgotten why they do the job they do, the coursework includes several actual surveillance videos showing terrorists (or “the baddies,” as one TSA worker in the class calls them) doing their jobs, including blowing themselves up and testing the flaws in airport security systems. That’s when I get alarmed and, to be honest, sort of queasy. Not just because it’s frightening to see someone blow themselves up. And not just because it’s unsettling to watch how easy it was for a man to skirt a metal detector and walk right past a TSA worker who not only ignores the man, but then ignores other travelers trying to call attention to the problem. What got me alarmed was the fact that most TSA workers in the class, many of whom have been on the job for years now, haven’t seen videos like this before. What’s new? So why show those videos now? Not just to scare everyone (although if my nightmares are any indication, rolling these tapes a few times certainly serves that purpose). Instead it was to kick off some spirited discussions. First, about how TSA workers were trained and treated (“At times like glorified sniffer dogs,” complains one screener), and then about how the TSA is now encouraging and expecting all employees to go beyond their “stick to the manual” training. The assignment now: to think more critically; to draw on the accumulated skills of co-workers; and to do as much as possible to make passengers feel more comfortable and involved as “stakeholders” in the security process. Not because doing all that will provide better “customer service,” although that wouldn’t hurt. But because, the thinking goes, if everyone is paying attention, confident of their co-workers’ abilities, cool, calm and able to act without always having to get the OK from a supervisor for every little thing, then fewer mistakes will get made and anything or anyone out of place will be easier to spot. And then, as the instructors put it, more TSA workers would be better at “mitigating and staying ahead of threats.” Is it that simple? Much of what was discussed in this class seems like common-sense advice. And the role-playing, team-building and confidence-instilling exercises that are a big part of the Engage! experience aren’t all that different from what many of us go through in organizational retreats and workshops in the business or nonprofit world. But there are some obvious and not-so-obvious differences here. For example, at your office that corny team-building exercise may make it easier to get along with that irritating co-worker. But at the airport, like in an operating room, a focused, well-oiled team can save lives. So while I left the Engage! class alarmed by the idea of how un-engaged and “by the book” the TSA training has been, I’m packing for my next trip a bit more reassured by the idea of a more engaged TSA workforce and by the “Aha!” statements some TSA workers expressed in class. For example, Jonathan Crane says next time he’s on duty as a screener, he’ll do his “regular thing” of trying to be very respectful of passengers and a “helpful cross between a world-class security professional and a concierge.” But now he says he’ll do it with the confidence that his actions “represent the will of TSA.” And Melissa Brunette is hoping that rather than just following steps one, two and three, she and her co-workers “will get to actually use our brains.” Which are, says Steve Miles, “probably our most important tools.” And just may be a great secret weapon. As I understand the First Amendment and its application, the Government can not prohibit ideas or the promotion of those ideas. They can on the other hand regulate the manner those ideas are expressed. Notice in the amendment Congress can not make a law prohibiting the free exercise of religion, the same is not true for the freedom of speech. The amendment states that Congress can not make a law abridging the freedom of speech. In other words they can not tell you what to say but the government has the right to tell you how you can say it. If not abused this is a good thing. There is no need for someone to spout offensive words to express their views, opinions or ideas. I think if you are fighting on the grounds that the TSA is censoring posts due to curse or cuss words you are fighting a losing battle. If on the other hand you can show that the TSA is censoring posts due to ideas, opinions or views, you will have a case. By the same token if you are fighting on the grounds that the TSA blog is censoring posts to hinder your right to petition the government for a redress of grievances, you will have a case., forumid=222, replyCount=14, postDate=Jan 22, 2009, score=31%, userid=176983, lastPostUserId=10541, firstPostUserName=whirledtraveler, username=Trollkiller, title=Is Propaganda Village Breaking the Law?, lastPostId=11128053, threadIconTitle=Question, firstPostUserId=26364, postTime=1:40 PM, lastPostTime=9:31 AM, firstPostTime=9:05 AM, forumtitle=Travel Safety/Security, restricted=0, highlightedTitle=Is Propaganda Village Breaking the Law?, firstPostId=11121517, deleted=0, preview= in the amendment Congress can not make a law prohibiting the free exercise of religion, the same is not true... will have a case. The plane did get repaired and was able to leave 24 hours after scheduled. As we boarded the plane, the attendents handed out a letter to everyone. United stated how they were very sorry for the inconvenience. There was also a harder bound form where we could give them our frequent flyer number for something. The letter mentioned something, but never gave any indication of what that might be. May be it will be some miles. We were told to fill out the forms and hand them over to the crew. But keep the letter. While in Kuwait I went to the transfer desk several times. When ever I noticed a new person working. I would say hello and ask if a United rep was around. But there never was one. I would also ask if I could change my seat. But that was not allowed. When we first boarded I was seated in economy plus where all the window/isle pairs were fully occupied, but the middle 5's were empty. I wanted to get something where I could lay out over a few seats and sleep. I boarded a bit late so all the isles were taken. Instead of wedging myself in a window with another guy, I got into one of the middle seats in the middle 5. The isle people did not want to lay out, so I took up all three seats and did enjoy some flat time over the 13 hour flight. The Kuwait airport was fine. Nice McDonalds and McCafe. There was a good coffee shop. The perfum shop always seemed to have a bunch of us trying out the free colognes. There were plenty of seats to sleep on. There were plenty of electric outlets to charge my phone and computer. It could have been much worse. After 20+ years of travel, I have been very lucky. I did get to meet some of my fellow passengers. Most were very nice and some really funny ones too. And one from near my hometown. Many were the very special military folks watching our backs. The worst part is the terrible foggyness in my head of disorientation. It would have been cool if I could have put in a days work. In my younger days I could pull an all nighter, have some coffee and just keep going. The fog is just now clearing about 24 hours after being home. How do some of you people travel for a week. I remember reading about an M Runner that went back and forth from the us to Dubai like three or four times. How do you keep up your stamina for that many days? Do you just sleep like normal hours? Wow. Over the years of reading FT, and also doing a lot of travel I have picked up some things that do make the best of an aweful situation. So here is my top ten list of items that really helped me in those 24 hours. As I re-read the list, I think these are probably things we should just do every day whether we are traveling or not. 1. Be friendly and meet some of the others 2. Meet the staff 3. Take a pillow and blanket 4. Take all medicines 5. Have a clean change of cloths 6. Don't check too many bags unless you have to 7. Bring a computer, book, puzzle, movies, or some work to pass the time 8. Write a diary, blog, or some notes to share your story 9. Exercise, walk, move around as much as you can 10. What can be said is that they are rarely trouble to visitors, although many might be disturbed at the sight of them beating up a group of other foreigners in a bar street basically for being black, as happened during a pre-Olympic crack-down. Refusals to honour regulations on where foreigners may reside, or produce paperwork to register a theft, or otherwise deal equitably in situations where foreigners and Chinese are in opposition, are legion, however. And asking for directions may be one thing (I don't actually have any Chinese friends who would think of doing such a thing, unless they were with a foreigner, of course), but dealing with the police on more serious matters is another. However, again, this isn't going to have an impact on most tourists. No one said anything about gas masks, but I think I'll take the combination of the WHO's figures and my own personal experience ahead of the testimony of a smoker, whose impressions are therefore any going to be largely irrelevant. I used to live in Beijing and was under the impression that I had become immune to the pollution, but having also just returned from an extended visit, I can report (as on other recent visits), the sore throat, runny nose, and pink eyes as described, which lasted for about a week in each case. I also recently stayed high up in the Park Hyatt, and was at times unable to see much beyond the CCTV Tower, due to the filthy air, and most of the time not as far as the Forbidden City. The particulate levels in Beijing's air are frequently reported to be multiples of the limit regarded as safe by WHO, which is also the organisation warning those with lung or heart problems to take care. I think I'll take those a little more seriously than a chipper, "Well, it didn't do me any harm," from a casual visitor who smokes, although there's little long-term damage to fear, probably (both WHO and the Chinese government itself suggest otherwise--see below), for the healthy casual visitor only spending a few days in China, and certainly I'm not about to give up spending a few months a year there myself. The person who originally denied that pollution was a problem mentioned that the Olympic athletes looked fine, but failed to note that many did their training elsewhere in Asia before arriving in China at the last minute, precisely because they feared the pollution. But even most ordinary conversational narrative is against you. You might like to read this post from a well-known local blogger, for instance: http://news.imagethief.com/blogs/chi...-a-series.aspx Particularly: "You know the air is bad when... (no. 418 in a series) ...the sun reflecting from the top of the Gemdale office tower casts a starburst in the smog. No run for me today. I could smell coal every time I woke up during the night. That'll teach me to leave the filter off." But you should look at the photo. Or this blog specifically about pollution: http://www.chinadialogue.net/article...ion-in-Beijing In particular note: "The WHO recommends an API measurement of 50 as its maximum safe daily level. May 2008 saw a daily API average of 131 in Beijing. May 27, 2008, saw the capital’s API peak at 463, over nine times the safe level." SEPA (the relevant government agency) recommends at an API of 131 "Slight irrations may occur, individuals with breathing or heart problems should reduce outdoor exercise." And for 463 "Healthy people will experience reduced endurance in activities. There may be strong irritations and symptoms and may trigger other illnesses. Elders and the sick should remain indoors and avoid exercise. Healthy individuals should avoid out door activities." The government's API figures are, of course, doctored, and in particular by carefully selecting the pollutants measured. Even so, personal experience, the World Health Organisation, and even the Chinese government itself, disagrees with you. Gas masks would indeed seem sometimes to be a good idea (although I have no intention of wearing one.) Note, too, from this Guardian article: http://www.guardian.co.uk/news/2005/...hina.pollution 'A recently published study, conducted by the Chinese Academy on Environmental Planning, blamed air pollution for 411,000 premature deaths - mostly from lung and heart-related diseases - in 2003. It said that a third of China's urban residents were exposed to harmful levels of pollution. More than 100 million people live in cities, such as Beijing, where the air is considered "very dangerous".' Other than for the Olympic blip, things have not noticeably improved. See this World Resources Institute report http://www.wri.org/stories/2008/07/b...-isnt-the-cars And in particular: 'The real causes of Beijing’s air quality woes lie elsewhere. An article last year suggested the key component to Beijing’s ozone problem (the stuff that makes your eyes itch, causes shortness of breath and reduces visibility) is actually volatile organic compounds (VOCs) from small factories in neighboring Hebei province. A sniff test suggests that there are plenty of these factories operating in and around Beijing. Many are small (and possibly illegal), and they operate only at night to avoid the scrutiny of environmental inspectors. So the Beijing government has several problems: first, it must locate these hidden factories. Then they must shut them down—and convince neighboring provinces to do the same. Beijing’s other major problem is particulates, which come from several sources. One is construction: Beijing is still rushing to complete non-Olympic buildings before the big day. Another is coal-fired power plants and factory boilers. China’s largest coal-mining province, Shanxi, is directly up wind of Beijing. Shanxi ships much coal to other provinces, but it also has mine-mouth power plants and coking plants that contribute to regional pollution. A final source is trucks. As with the VOCs from small factories, emissions from heavy vehicles are worst during the night, since trucks are banned from the city during the day. Studies have shown that Beijing’s pollution levels are highest in the early morning. This would not be the case if most of the pollution came from passenger cars, which operate mainly during the day. But it is good evidence that the chief sources of pollution are the VOC-producing factories and trucks operating at night.' In short, the well-documented major pollution air problem at its health implications are as plain as the (dripping) nose on your face, and to deny its reality is to suggest you must be on drugs (probably anti-histamines). I was placed on 11th floor on opposite side of hotel from elevators. The hotel rooms are in a square around an open interior atrium so half the rooms face interior and half are exterior rooms. The hotel is floors 6-15 of the building (no floor 13 - told it is storage area). Floor 6 is conference rooms. Floor 7 is Gym/Business center and rooms. Floor 8 is lobby reception and restaurants. There are several seating areas in the large open atrium of the 8th floor. A lovely environment. Floor 12 is the lounge. As platinum I was given access to 12th floor lounge. Key card required for elevator to access any floor besides 8 and ground floor. My key card allowed access to Floor 11 with my room and Floor 12 with lounge. No need to check in with lounge staff and I was never asked for my name or room number. The fact you are there on 12th floor means you have lounge access on your room card. The concierge staff were friendly and there was always at least two staff members every time I visited. I asked for wine and received a 10 or 12 oz portion. That took care of me for the New York Times reading hour. Lounge is kind of dark. A great place for evening relaxing and every time I visited, there were only a few people in a space with seating for about 25 to 30. Lounge has large screen Sony Vaio computer for guest access. Lounge seating only has two small tables conducive to eating breakfast. If those are in use, then you are left with couches and cushion chairs and coffee tables for eating. My bedroom was small 12'x13' and I bet I was placed in the room with the smallest single window in the hotel (2.5 ft wide on a 13" wall). Unless they have a windowless room, I can't imagine a room with less natural light. (Interior atrium facing rooms have the large atrium with a glass ceiling.) The lack of window light caused me to pay particular attention to the four room lamps which I must say were absolutely gorgeous. Most rooms seemed to have much more window space from my observations when studying the hotel from the street outside. Perhaps I would have fared better just paying the $249 regular rate and receiving complimentary parking (a $32 value) rather than using the SPG50 half off rack rate for $199.50 available for 1,000 Starpoints. Particularly since I paid $16.50 to self-park in a garage on the next block. Issues: -Electronic mini-bar in hotel room was locked and front desk said an engineer would need to come to room to unlock it. I passed on that as I was only curious to see contents, not buy contents. -I had to call desk twice before my room telephone worked for making outside calls. -Keep that key card in your hand for using elevator or you find yourself on ground floor or 8th floor before you know it. -I received a phone call at 12:51 am. Nobody on the line. Desk staff said there was no way to know who had called. -After taking over 200 photos around the hotel over 18 hours, on my last photo before check-out I was asked by concierge what I planned to do with photos. I told him I write a hotel blog at BoardingArea.com. He informed me that I do not have permission to publish photos of the hotel private property and I need media permission from a hotel representative. The staff member who I am supposed to get permission from was not at the hotel yesterday. Compliments: -Bath towels are heavenly. Wrap up in the 6'x3' plush towel. (I actually measured it.) -Room has a luxury feel, although a little small and I was disappointed with the small window and lack of natural light for my assigned room. Although I think I prefer the exterior room to an interior room with windows visible to diners and guests on the 8th floor. -Complimentary wireless internet access. Worked fine in my 11th floor room. -Complimentary local calls and toll-free calls. -42" Phillips HDTV -Boston Electronics clock/radio with remote. -Great shower and marble tile and second compliment to towels. -Staff quite sociable, and be assured everyone will greet you and the lounge staff will engage you in conversation. Can be a treat or annoying depending on your disposition. - Bed was quite comfortable with all the bedding amenities. -Lovely chandelier lighting in halls and small chandelier in room. -Exercise room has lots of equipment. - Interesting art designs and furniture arrangement in the open space lobby atrium. However, there are not enough rich folks to elect a president, even if you count the toadies, the hangers-on, the wanna-bes and the folks who think they're rich but aren't. So the party has to use the religious right as its actual voters, and this group includes a fair number of folks who AREN'T rich. To gather this group in, the GOP promises, but doesn't deliver, a return to a simpler age where abortion was done in back allies, gays were closeted family men who could be thrown in jail and the black folks and the Jews knew their place. It's been a 30-year exercise in stringing these folks along. The rich people who pay for the party have neither interest in making good nor incentive; once abortion is made nationally illegal a lot of the religious right probably won't bother turning up to vote. The problem is that the rich folks who run the party - and run Fox News - aren't really sincere about the party's social agenda. It's just red meat for the rightwing workies. The rich - really, the country's owners - want the party to look after their class interests, which are all economic. They don't trust the petit bourgeois footsoldiers any more than you or I do. The problem is that the crazies are getting restless, and want to run the party themselves, not just provide the voting muscle. This makes the richies nervous: you see this with the complete lack of rich-folks funding for Huckabee (who incidentally wasn't reliable on economic issues as far as the rich were concerned). Palin also scares them, as she's drawn from the same group, but seems even more ignorant and likely to blow up the world in search of the the end of the world and the second coming. Even short of that, she seems ignorant and incompetent enough to .... things up even more royally than the most recent occupant of the White House did, given the chance. She'd further tarnish the brand, and probably cause everyone's portfolios to blow up. And the people who run the party aren't fools, just dedicated to their own interests: they realize that she's incredibly ignorant, and probably dangerous beyond a point they're willing to tolerate. Much safer to destroy her NOW than to let her build herself up and run in 2012, where she MIGHT win the nomination because of her attraction to the smalltown and southern white folks who actually provide the votes. She's attractive and hits all the right-wing sweet spots. She seems one of the people. The rich do NOT want a choice between her and Obama; they want someone sincere on the economic rightwingness but insincere on the rest. I also started so I would lose some weight, and it sure worked, I'm down over 30 pounds from my peak, and a good 20 just over the past year. Those first 2-mile runs seemed to take forever....but eventually I found myself adding in a little more, and getting a little faster. I do wear that wicking material, but when you sweat 5 lbs (I've done pre and post-run weight checks) it has to go somewhere, and the shirt (and even shorts and socks) gets soaked, I'll usually take the shirt off at some point and use it to wipe my face. If this is not the proper place for this, or anyone needs additional information, please move this thread or let me know where I could better address this. Obesity is a major health concern in many countries today, and in those where it isn't, it probably will be soon. I've seen many conversations on the US Airways forum where someone was seated beside an obese person who, "spilled over," into their seat. For most people, diet and exercise are the primary means to combat this concern. For most of us on Flyertalk who try to keep a regular exercise routine, a business trip can wreak havoc to any schedule. There are many hotels where a, "workout room," consists of a treadmill and a bike, if you're lucky. However, I've also been lucky enough to find some hotels with quite a gym inside, including a lap pool. Some people may be evening workout people, and simply need advice on how to adjust to working out at a different time of day, which is not as easy as it may sound. Currently on Flyertalk, we have a few separate areas that address some of these concerns: * There is an Omni Exercise Blog, in the Omni forum, where users post/share various workouts. I've posted several different masters swim workouts, others will post things as simple as keeping in a pushup position for 5 minutes, with minimum number of pushups. * There are various, "What gym should I join," threads that pop up nearly weekly on the Omni forum. Questions usually revolve around cities the user lives in, travels to frequently, costs, guest fees, etc. * In the Hilton HHonors forum, that I frequent often, there are sometimes questions (many times where I initiate) regarding the workout facilities at a particular location. In some cities where there are multiple HHonors properties, I'd rather stay at a property that either has a better gym, or has a relationship with a nearby gym for reduced/free access. * There are sometimes threads in the geographic forums (such as Western US), on which areas/roads in a region are good for running areas. * I've also seen threads (one I initiated) on how to pass time when you get to the airport early. In LAS for example, there is a gym on-site, with a low day pass charge, that I was able to use when I was there for 3-4 hours recently. * Several Flyertalkers travel specifically for a fitness-related event. The Boston Marathon, the Kona Ironman Triathlon, US Masters Swimming national events, various bike events (Tour de Tucson), etc. This could be a place for Flyertalkers to meet in advance, compare notes on the event, hotels in the area, etc. * When I first traveled trans-Pacific (back in 1991), Northwest used to show exercise videos for in-flight use. I haven't seen these lately (could be that US just doesn't have them). But we could also share tips for keeping some sort of activity in-flight. I could post some specific thread links, and dig for other things. As it stands right now, some of these are addressed in few places on FT. But before I take a biz trip, I'm usually looking at FT, TripAdvisor, the US Masters Swimming forums, Runners' World forums, and several others. It would be great to have one consolidated area. Please let me know what questions you have, or how I could better define this proposal. For some, this is a good thing. For me, it’s the antithesis of what I want in a hotel room. I don’t get the appeal of having a large piece of exercise equipment next to your bed. Aesthetically it’s all wrong, especially in a chain that pitches serenity and luxury. Much like I don’t like to sleep at the gym, I don’t like to use exercise machines in the bedroom. I’ve worked out at hotel gyms, and they’ve never been crowded. It’s hardly a meat market. I guess it’s convenient to not have to take an elevator down a couple floors, but is that really so hard? I’m sure market-testing indicates a market niche here. I’m reminded of two things. First, a theme in Robert Putnam’s somewhat alarmist book on the “collapse and revival of American community,” Bowling Alone: Activities that were once communal or social activities have become solitary and individual. We can’t even work out in a gym anymore when we’re away from home. Second, it gives me the opportunity to tell a Bob Costas anecdote. And none of my Bob Costas anecdotes — none — are complimentary. Thankfully the Olympics are over, so I don’t have to see his arrogant mug on my television any longer. Hallelujah! In my one and only job in the hospitality business, back in the mid-90s, I worked in the offices of a 4-star hotel in Chicago. Costas and other NBC Sports figures were regular guests, typically in town to cover Chicago Bulls games. The sportscasters and the visiting team typically stayed at the same hotel. Coworkers related stories galore about the ego trips that some of these celebrities went on, but it was always the sportscasters, never the athletes, who drew the employees’ ire. In one of his more minor transgressions (and the reason why I’m mentioning him now), Costas insisted on having exercise equipment trucked up to his room, because he didn’t want to work out at the hotel’s attached health club. The same health club where visiting NBA teams regularly worked out. Good enough for the Seattle Supersonics, but not for Bob. My favorite story, though: Costas complained to a staffer because the sun was waking him up, shining brightly into his face every morning. The reply: “Were the curtains closed?” (No.) Costas flies off the handle, screaming at the staffer for “questioning him.” He proceeds to insist that housekeeping come up to his room to cover the bedroom windows in his suite with black construction paper. Much to my chagrin, the hotel management agreed to do it. Bottom line: Now Westin is letting us all be Bob Costas, hiding from public sight while we curl our dumbbells or ride our spinning cycles in the same rooms where we work and rest. Will they take construction-paper requests for windows soon, too?" http://www.upgradetravelbetter.com/, forumid=457, replyCount=3, postDate=Aug 27, 2008, score=42%, userid=79274, lastPostUserId=30212, firstPostUserName=jaymar01, username=jaymar01, title=Bob Costas, lastPostId=10268645, threadIconTitle=null, firstPostUserId=79274, postTime=11:51 AM, lastPostTime=12:53 PM, firstPostTime=11:51 AM, forumtitle=OMNI, restricted=0, highlightedTitle=Bob Costas, firstPostId=10268242, deleted=0, preview=Great story from the travel blog Upgrade: Travel Better "Westin recently launched... of having a large piece of exercise equipment next to your bed. Plenty of places to group and socialize or place yourself on display in the seating areas for a single. Take for example comments on a Fitness forum. To get real feedback from those involved in the debate and those likely to be effected by the decision taken, I needed to take time to go to the exercise blog in Omni, the UK travel forum, the Hilton and Starwood fora among other to get a sense for how others view the topic and not rely solely on my own perspective. What came about was a reasoned and clearly explained decision and position. This is what everybody needs to be confident they will enjoy. The solicitation of those opinions in an open forum allowed not only me but all who looked to see what opinions were held by whom. The day I arrived at my Tokyo dorm in grad school I turned the a/c to high, and it stayed there through the day I left, 3+ months later. Back when I was in the Army, it was quite common to see salt stains on everyone's clothing (mine included), as we were so active all the time. That did teach me an excellent lesson tho....always wear a t-shirt/undershirt with a shirt on top. Nearly all the time, I'll wear a t-shirt under a golf/polo/button-down shirt. Just once in a while will I go out in public with just a nice t-shirt. I switched to spray deoderant/anti-persperant a few years ago because I got tired of my stick melting in the gym bag in my car. The one that works best for me is Right Guard (there aren't too many sprays anymore), and it works much better than any stick I've used. In the heat of the PHX summer, I'll start sweating less than 1/2 mile into a run.
