No, that wouldn't be fair to assume.

My fault though for not consulting the pre-existing list before replying to DallasBill. Regardless, the item has been sent to the tech team in charge of working on search ... again. In fact, they're probably cursing me at this very moment for passing an issue along of which they are already aware.

I was just being sarcastic for the no progress part.

Well, they shouldn't be cursing at you, to say the least, for readdressing the issue that had been brought into light for more than 5 months.

Key-word search is a major part of any search, I assume. Failure to search by specified key word/s in the "thread title" field is simply unacceptable. You've heard the frustration from the mod teams.

I doubt this problem is that challenging so after 5 months we are still in the same place.

Can't perform search by users in the last 30 minutes or so.

The screen would freezes or just hang. I am also getting this error message in two browser windows:

"Content Encoding Error

The page you are trying to view cannot be shown because it uses an invalid or unsupported form of compression.

Not sure if it matters. Two search I tried:
1. right click "FT handle" > Find more posts by "FT handle";
2. Top search (dropdown) > advance search > User Name: Show results as posts

The tech team is looking into this issue at this moment. Not sure yet what the cause is, but obviously we hope to have it resolved quickly.

As for now, still the same hung screen then "Content Encoding Error" message.

(Not sure if it's related to the data base error that occasionally happen during the last couple of days. I ran into once around noon today.)

Hey everyone,

We are working on getting the search back up. The issue is related to some other network issues we were having earlier today ... issues unrelated to Flyertalk. Hopefully our teams will have the issue resolved soon.

Search By Posts IS Down?

Search is not working quite right for me this afternoon.

I got empty page (3 times) when I tried the following around 2:00 CST (w/ both login & logout). The screen had a line of message like "IB Beta Search X.X or something" showing up on a mostly blank page:

1. Click FT Handle > "Find More Posts by FT Handle"
or,
2. "Quick Links"> "My Posts"

I tried again around 2:45 after sign-in. When using Quick Links> My Posts, I was able to see the result but got kicked out from signing in.

Not sure if it matters. I was using Chrome when that happened. I gave IE a try with no such problem.

Was it a browser issue or was the beta search getting funking this afternoon?

Search is definitely hinky right now. When I search for all my posts, it brings up fewer than half of them. Almost all of the recent ones don't show up.

Is Search Index out of sync AGAIN?

Same here.

The latest posts in "My Posts" result are on 10/26/08, exactly one full month ago. For me, the result range are from July 2008 through 10/26/08. The search was working fine earlier this morning (around 9:00 CST). Something (either update or "downgrade") must have happened sometimes in between.

May I ask what features have been added in IB Beta Search to cause this new "improvement"?

Just searched entire FT for "eharmony" because I know there were threads on the subject. Used "1 months" as the timeframe. Got nothing.

Missing Index in some fora?

I believe nothing in November is coming up at this time. October 28, 2008 was the newest date from "My Posts" search now. Some aged posts are showing up this evening, going back to my oldest ones.

However, the whole search result is still less than half of my total posts. I am sure I didn't make 1000 posts in the last 30 days.

Are there certain fora not indexed correctly as well?
