For those still not receiving daily subscription emails, if you could email your IP address to me at [email protected] we could use that data to help diagnose where the emails are going missing.

Thank you

Paul

This is Flyertalk. We are frequent flyers which means we are always on different IP addresses. And our IP address has nothing to do with email. My email from Flyertalk is sent to Google's Gmail. So in your mail logs you should see one of hundreds of different IP addresses Google uses.

As mentioned earlier - I'm getting thread-alerts, but no subscriptions. I can NOT see any connections from your mailservers in my server regarding the missing mails.

Would suggest you check you outgoing logs to see if ANY e-mails are generated or at least trying to go through your MTA. Example check my e-mailadress as registered in my profile, and if you are trying to deliver mails to that. It should be 2-3 pr. mail pr. day.

BTW: IP-adresses for mailservers are best obtained via DNS MX-records.

In the past, there have been spells (a day or so) in which I don't get any alerts, and then a slew (sometimes 30+) all at once. This last Sunday, I got nothing for hours, and thought that the threads I subscribed to would be more active at the weekend. Today I haven't received the whole backlog as in the above described scenario, but rather alerts of the most recent post for some subscribed threads. I am getting a lot of these today. I go to the thread and find several (a few, up to maybe 15 or 20) interim comments from over the last few days for which I haven't received notices.

I wonder if the administrators really already have our email addresses. (Of course they do.) But the reason I'm keying on this is that I submitted my comment at about 11:00 am ET, and at about 1:00 pm, I received the TalkBoard newsletter for the first time. First point made. But I wonder if it was a ping (to confirm the path), or to assure a patent path, or a random act of kindness. Whatever, it's a nice enhancement and I look forward to many happy returns -- of both the newsletter and the email alerts. Thank you.

If TalkMail is what you mean that is unfortunately a separate path -- it's sent manually on a biweekly basis.

Tech says the server was just tested to see if it would queue and lock the queue properly, which could have caused intermittent issues if the server began to overload; this has been reconfigured and should help.

Please report if you see a change in your subscriptions arriving tomorrow morning.

Thank you. Whoops. Yes. Sorry, looking into it the first time, I thought it was all about the Talk Board, followed by some personal vignettes. Then one of those mind things. Anyway... I've been receiving alerts at about the old (good) pace, so don't know if it's all of them. The paradox - or whatever - is that one doesn't know what one doesn't know unless one visits a thread that one hasn't been alerted about for a while, then finds more comments. Thanks again for watching this one.

To digress boringly, each time there is a hiatus, I wonder if FlyerTalk has reverted to invoking the caveat that's in every alert -- e.g., "There may be other replies also, but you will not receive any more notifications until you visit the forum again." ...Which I expect could happen at any time. TripAdvisor says that and means it. I feel blessed that FlyerTalk doesn't.

Thank you again for responding.

Indeed I just received a MilesBuzz update. This is the first forum update email I've received in many months.

I see that there is a work going on on topic subscription email notification...
I'm subscribed for several topics and this was working more or less ok for the last couple of month - I receive daily notifications.
But today... I already received 14 (!) notifications for 4 topics - two topics had 4 duplicate and another two had 3 duplicates each.
I appreciate that you are trying to improve this, but could you please stopping spamming my mailbox with duplicates?

If you need to test, its ok, but let people know what is going on.

Thanks!

Sorry for the multiple emails, but I have been informed the only way to test this is to do so "in production," which means you'll get some extra emails.

We will make every effort to keep it to the minimum necessary to fix this for all subscribers.

Paul

Thanks for whatever you did. Forum updates are working, although I'm getting multiple copies of each forum, like every half hour.

The real test will be if it can work consistently, day after day.
