Just received an update from Mike on this. He's in the midst of a fairly technically involved plan that could root out the cause of the email malfunction and perhaps fix it at the same time.
We don't have an ETA yet but I'll post it as soon as I do.

This thread goes back to Aug 2010 - yes,18 months. It would be interesting to know by how much site traffic is down?
Or maybe that's the point. Only we old moaners use email now so...

Two years in, and never had one. Only just discovered such things existed from a comment on a Thread. Hmmmm ....
Ahhh ... I use a silent email account. I must amend that to one I actually look at!!

Ibobi,
This issue has been ongoing for several months and I think most of the members either adopted other futures of Flyertalk or just migrated their postings elsewhere. If it is not fixed now, I would not spend my resources on this future. I have not been receiving my updates for months and I just became less frequent guest on Flyertalk secondary now I need to look for the info instead of info was emailed to me daily,

I say, chaps, there's no need to stamp your feet and walk away.
What are you losing by this e-mail that I have never had, never missed and possibly don't need filling my in-box anyway?
Paraphrasing something that's common on the BA Board ... "I will never use this website again".

Different people use FT for different reasons. While I admire those FTers who are able to actively monitor and post on multiple forums/threads, my time to dedicate to FT on a daily basis is limited. So receiving the information that I find valuable from various forums in my e-mail box every day is a very convenient way for me to stay in-touch with the flow of information that is most important to me. If I don't get these e-mails on a daily basis (which take me directly to the forums I'm interested in) then I'm unlikely to visit FT regularly, if at all.
I could probably find various work-arounds using some of the other functionality on FT to access at least some of the information I want, but that's not really the point. The real issue is that IB has many other websites to manage and this issue is clearly low on their priority list so they occasionally dabble with the issue to give us the impression that they are actively working on it, but not really. The ineptitude of the IB tech team and general disregard for prioritizing this problem is the real issue. Moreover, it also gives us a good example of how certain websites are driven by specific personalities (i.e. Randy) that are passionate about the purpose of a website and less concerned with the business/money making side of things and trying to figure out how to create synergies across their portfolio of websites.
The information and knowledge on FT is unmatched - at least for now - but websites like this either evolve or die. Since IB took over FT it seems to be the latter.
Im moving to milepoint lets hope IB doesnt try to buy that as well.

5:35pm Central time: I just received emails for the two forums I do subscribe to by email. ^
Not that the email is all that useful, since I've already read those threads long ago.

- after such a long time without these problems being solved I have lost interest and read the much less pretentious PPrune.
