Just this their current trick, post pandemic, many evouchers are expiring end of March, i have Family members SEN waitlisted for flights in July, all revenue buckets are availably but the upgrades remain on waitlist, they have no shame

They can let them expire but still will carry liability for some times. They might as well get rid of them … it‘s useless anyway when it‘s unusable.

It‘s still not clear to me when they will clear it (for HON fo example), is it as early as 48 hr before flight or only at the gate … The only thing clear is, if there is an award, it does clear.

I could live with 48 hours, but at the gate would not make me happy at all. Much earlier on "empty" flights would be appreciated.

Data point. A few days ago, I was in F (cash ticket originally booked in A but changed to F due to rebooking). My travel companion, no status with M/M, was originally booked in I. For weeks the flight was F3A1. 48 hours before departure, it became F3A3, but no award available. 24 hours the same story. On the day of departure, I called LX CCC who confirmed availability for my travel companion. I paid extra 44,000 miles and 50 EUR to change the ticket from I to O. The flight went 8/8, with two more pax deciding to pay cash during airport check in (1250 CHF).

In these cases the 50 eur change fee is not due. Very little agents known that though.

Could you tell us the route the was on?

My flights (ZRH-SIN-ZRH) ask for more than 3000 per leg for a cash upgrade beforehand.

I asked LX CCC and was told that the fee is due (thought I remember that indeed I never paid it in past). LX CCC said that any changes trigger 50 EUR for non-HON pax, while HON pax pay 50 EUR only once regardless of the number of changes.

A data point - my e-voucher cleared about 95-100 hrs before departure … it sounded so much like AA clearing free upgrades for elites. It was F6A6 and the time I looked it became F3A3 - so looks like another 2 pax got cleared.

Same here, several weeks for two flights F8A0 and F8A0.

Of course loyalty means nothing and as a lifetime SEN I became happy TP flyer (perfect for Soutrh America) and all A330 neo, 1-2-1, no noisy rattling 777. Next step EK for SE Asia .

Thanks for reporting and glad it worked for you.

About 100 hours is fine with me, I just don't like the "at the gate" option, as it reduces the upgrade to the onboard product. If I spend tons of miles for the upgrade into LX F, I would like to at least enjoy a meal and drink on the terrace of terminal E.

At least loyalty does not mean much to them and, in return, our loyalty is limited, too. Not sure that's the ideal combination, long term.

This is just 1 data point … I think we need to collect more from others to see if there is any meaningful patterns, or just completely random, or someone sitting behind a computer and happens to be in a good mood to start clearing upgrades … :-)
