This is false. The booking medium through which one makes the reservation has nothing to do with whether or not points get posted.

If you get comped nights, you don't get points for that. However, if you charge food, etc to your room and pay with cash or credit card upon check out to settle the charges, then you should get points.

However, the points may take FOREVER to post.

The representative who informed you that you did not get points because you did not book online was making a wild guess about why the points had not post.

I have never booked online and have gotten points posted although it usually takes longer than I would like.

You get elite qualifying nights for comped stays, but of course no points since you didn't pay anything (and nothing of course on the taxes or resort fees, either). Always get all our restaurant charges. Mine consistently post 2 weeks after the stay, which I don't think is bad at all. Also interesting to see how they hook up a different hotel with the stay - Caesars is usually the Sheraton Oman, Paris is usually Jupiter something.

Is there any way to get a restaurant charge credited when you are NOT staying at a TR property? (like if you were at a regular SPG property you could if you were not staying, but eating, there). Next trip we're staying at an Mlife property, but will be eating at a TR property.

My experience is I don't get crossover SPG credit for nights if everything is comped and I checkout with a zero balance. I have taken to leaving some small amount on the room (e.g. a soda in the gift shop or a meal tip) that doesn't get comped.

We're lucky to get the free rooms being the small gamblers we are, so we almost never get any F&B credit so we always have a bill on check-out.

That has been my experience with about six stays.

I'm fortunate enough to have everything comped and still get the nights credit.

You can give your TR card to them when paying and you earn TR credits. However, since you don't have a room, you will not earn any SPG points for those dollars spent on food at the Caesars' property.

I stayed at The Linq in June for two nights, the points have posted to my TR account but haven't seen anything yet in my SPG account - I know they said 4-6 weeks but wondering when I should reach out to someone at TR. It's been just over 4 weeks since the stay.

I know this is not an SPG issue or anything but thought some of the people on here might have some feedback. I have noticed on my Total Rewards account when I try and book some comped nights it is not working as usual. For example... whichever hotel is showing comped nights say Sunday through Thursday nights - I used to be able to easily book this punching in my Sunday night arrival and it would show comped all the way through. Now when I do this it only shows the first night comped and then the rates are higher than normal. It even does this on the RIO - and I always see the RIO comped but it shows the first night comped and the second night etc., turns into $100 / night. We know that is not correct, especially for the RIO. I emailed customer service twice but they are not understanding. Anyone else having this issue on their accounts? In essence I cannot get anything more than one night comped albeit it shows differently when I bring up the rate calendar.

This should maybe go in Gaming Loyalty Programs, will ping the mods.

Have you tried calling reservations? They'll waive the phone booking fee if you had problems online. If you have a host that would be the way to go as well.

Is it possible your level of play has fallen off from before, or that you're looking at a busy convention week etc.?

I just went to my TR account and I had a very odd experience that might help you.

I first checked on the calendar when I had many comped nights in a row - and like always, when I went to book they were all comped.

However, when I had one comped night, and the next night had to be paid, here is what happened:

Instead of one being comped and the next $179 as shown on the calendar, when I chose 2 nights it showed $179 for both nights, for a total of $358.

So while this is not exactly what is happening to you, it does show there is something messed up. Perhaps call and instead of just asking for certain nights, ask if they can pull up your calendar and see if they can see what you are seeing then.

Thanks so much for the feedback.......Ok. This is embarrassing as I have been on Flyertalk for several years. I honestly always had the thought that I wished FT had something for TR or Mlife etc., I had NO IDEA there were threads here on those loyalty programs!! LOL. Learn something new everyday. This is the first time I have ever read someone referring to go to that thread!

Question Eligible Stays at Caesars don't count as Eligible Stays towards SPG status?

I had a qualifying stay at Caesar's Palace after linking my SPG and TR accounts. I had the points and eligible nights post to my SPG account, but the "Stays ytd" count did not go up. Does anyone know if that's how its supposed to be? i.e. you get Starpoints and Eligible nights for Caesar's stays, but they don't count as Eligible Stays towards status on SPG?

Hi write2r,

Yes, they will count as Eligible Nights for the purpose of meeting the Gold Minimum Requirement and the Platinum Minimum Requirement in the SPG Program, but they do not count as Eligible Stays.

Resort Fee Eligible for Points, Not Room Rate

Booked a 3 night stay at The LINQ back in March. Total Rewards only credited the resort fee to my SPG account. Contacted Total Rewards, apparently I booked the Buffet of Buffets package and it is ineligible for crossover points to SPG. I booked on the Total Rewards website and I did not see anything in the T&C stating this is ineligible. Just seems silly to be me that I get the resort fee and stays credited, but not the actual room rate.
