I literally missed the booking window by a day. A little heads-up might have been helpful. Bummer.

I must say, that's a pretty prickly response there for Starwood Lurker!

Especially for a change with such short notice.

Can't believe any of the bloggers have picked up on this yet...kind of a big deal?

William has given me good advice in the past, so I don't want to say anything, but I sort of agree with you...it could have been that just the ability to book CET rooms using SPG points was ending, not the earning of points.

1) I don't think it's that "big of deal"

2) If "the bloggers" picked it up, exactly what difference, in the grand scheme of things, do you believe that would make? At least one, or perhaps both, of the parties in this "partnership" didn't see a business value in extending it. I highly doubt Lucky writing a post about it would cause them to reverse that decision.

Regards

William has also been very sassy with me via email. Caught me off guard.

I've gotten qualifying nights for SPG at Vegas hotels in several different years. And those made the difference. So now, if I'd want that same credit, I'd need to book a true SPG hotel, not one of the Caesars group. That's a difference worth noting for many blogs.

Fortunately, I don't rely on the blogs.

I agree. A tiny percentage of SPG members were able to take advantage of this, so it really has a relatively miniscule effect.

I hope all the lurkers have not gotten pink slips because of the Marriott deal - but that could explain the change in demeanor.

I made good use of this promotion over the past year. I'm quite bummed that it's ending, with almost zero notice.

The (selfish) thing I'll miss the most is that it kept our SPG accounts alive with zero effort.

Agree, because the demeanor has changed. It was practically a "can't you read what I wrote" type of response....

Statement: "The partnership is ending"
Question: "Is it a complete severance of the partnership? ... Is that ending, too?
Answer: The words "...the conclusion of this partnership..." means that everything is ending.

I'm offended....??

Not sure why people are so surprised. The partnership with Ceasars plugged a hole in Starwood as they had no strip properties. With the Marriott merger we have Cosmopolitan on the strip so no need to partner.

"Big deal" in that it, IIRC, is one of the first new style crossover-style programs to go bust.

Lucky/Gary, etc. writing a post about it wouldn't be at all about influencing the parties to change their minds - rather just to break news
