SPG and Caesars Entertainment : partnership ENDED 31 Dec 2016

It’s official: SPG and Caesars Entertainment are pairing up. It’s a win-win.

Coming soon you’ll be able to link your SPG and Total Rewards accounts so that starting January 9, 2014, you can redeem Starpoints for stays at over 15 participating Caesars Entertainment hotels in Las Vegas, Atlantic City, Lake Tahoe and more. Plus, you’ll earn Starpoints and SPG elite qualifying nights credits at Caesars Entertainment hotels (in addition to Reward Credits earned as a Total Rewards member).

But that’s not all, starting today, you can redeem Starpoints for exclusive access to amazing experiences – including a Platinum member-only celebration weekend in Las Vegas, and so much more through Moments by SPG. Spots for the Las Vegas weekend celebration are limited so redeem now at SPG.com/moments.

To learn more, visit spg.com/caesars.

Very cool. I go to Vegas 2x per year, so this should come in handy. Thanks!

The link just goes to the general SPG Moments page. I can't find anything about an event in Vegas for Platinums.

Is this just earn and burn or a fuller marketing alliance as the Venetian/Palazzo have with IC? The latter is much more appealing and simple earn/burn is unlikely to pull me away from the Palazzo.

Link is live - it first forced me to sign-in, then allowed me to cross-register with my Total Rewards account. Page then reads "You're all in. Your registration has been confirmed."

Thyetus, a question - will comp room offers (from Caesars) count toward minimum stays for elite qualification? I have a stay coming up in late January at Bally's Las Vegas that was a comp offer from Caesars.

Edit: Confirmation email just came "Nice Move. You've Added Caesars Entertainment to Your Hand". And it states clearly that paid and redeemed stays count towards SPG elite night qualifications. I have never been more excited.

So this is to counter the MGM & Hyatt partnership!

too bad there is no information on the Starwood/SPG nor Ceasars site.

I'd double check your interpretation of that email if I were you. I read it as cash or points count for status, not comps. YMMV.

Cheers,

Good, potentially great news (I'm holding off on "great" until we see how the Vegas casinos are categorized...)

February 21-23. Looks like 15k Starpoints gets you (And a guest) a free two nights at Caesar's, Planet Hollywood or Paris Las Vegas. Also included:

Friday:
Taste of Caesars Evening Reception
Nobu After Hours Reception

Saturday:
Blackjack Tournament at Planet Hollywood with a grand prize of 1mm Starpoints.
Evening: Choice of-
Britney: "Piece of Me" show at PH or Jersey Boys at Paris or Celine Dion at Caesars

Sunday: Brunch at Mon Ami Gabi in Paris.

If I wasn't already going to Vegas a month prior and a month after, I would probably take them up on this--seems like a pretty solid offer.

Wonderful news! Earning points or redeeming for the Nobu Hotel in the Caesar's complex could be very interesting depending on the points levels.

Thyetus...the way I am reading your post is that we can earn and redeem but that there will be no elite recognition like there is with the Hyatt/MGM partnership...is that correct?

It appears our stays don't count towards our lifetime status

And Platinums receive no status at Ceasars properties... while Total Rewards members get Gold status for the duration of their stay. Pretty poor negotiation there SPG. Perhaps it's time to hire someone who can negotiate. Where do I send my resume?

I think we would all like to have seen some recognition/status out of this deal similar to what Hyatt was able to achieve BUT let's be honest here...I imagine that the number of Total Rewards members is much smaller than SPG members and it's not like Gold status is getting them that much. I would think SPG had to throw in a bone (Gold Status) to make the deal even somewhat attractive for Caesars.

I saw the note about lack of elite status matching, but where did you see the part about lifetime status (or lack thereof)? I was hoping that since nights will count toward status (up to 10 per year), that they would count toward lifetime status as well. Maybe that's not fair to assume though...

Buried in the T&C's
3.2 Eligible Nights. Each night of an eligible stay at a Caesars Participating Hotel that is eligible to receive Reward Credits or that results from the redemption of Reward Credits or Starpoints in which the SPG Member stays in the room will count as an Eligible Night under the SPG Program Terms, up to a maximum of 10 Eligible Nights per Qualifying Period, for the sole purpose of meeting the Gold Minimum Requirement and the Platinum Minimum Requirement in the SPG Program. Eligible Nights earned pursuant to this SPG-Total Reward Member Benefits will not count towards meeting the Eligible Night requirements in order to achieve SPG Lifetime Gold status or SPG Lifetime Platinum status under the SPG Program Terms.
