Can you elaborate on this? I also have two rooms booked on a stay in September.
So how does the stay need to be credited in order for it to count properly?

Good in principle, but as I mainly stay in Manhattan it looks like I won't be earning anything from this promo myself. Shame, since I came back to SPG about 18 months ago every promotion has been really generous to me. I guess it'll happen from time to time.

Hi zagy,

Yes. In this case, 4 nights would count for the promotion.

Can you elaborate on this? I also have two rooms booked on a stay in September.
So how does the stay need to be credited in order for it to count properly?
If the property posts as a single stay but there are multiple rooms involved, the number of nights credited would only be that of a single room count. If this happens, you may contact research team to rectify the stay credit for you.

Great for me! I have 25 stays planned for that period and none of my hotels are opting out (VA - DC Area). So 10K bonus, plus double points for all of the stays. Now if Hyatt could do something also during the same period, I would be even more happy.

great

as a non-us spg member, we really have to earn our spg points through stays and nights.

of course in the past, we had great promos with stay 2 get 1 free etc., but these days are over, so i am happy for the double points.

The lack of SF properties is annoying, but otherwise, the promo is "ehh." Since I don't have many more stays in 2013, I'm not one to look a gift horse in the mouth. Would've preferred a FWN/FRN/FAN per 5 stays, but I'm guessing Starwood did very well compared with their competitors. See you guys next trimester.

Then SPG should deny these properties any marketing support. If SPG is going to run a supposedly chainwide promotion, then every property should participate. Starwood really needs to make its properties be all-in or all-out when it comes to SPG. Either SPG is a net benefit to an individual hotel and they participate fully in it or it is a net negative for an individual hotel and they can choose to (be forced to) go their own way and leave the brand.

No more cherry-picking.

It's highly disingenuous of SPG to advertise a global/chainwide promotion when they know there will be a long list of opt-outs. It would be far more honest of SPG to not run global promotions. Instead, just have individual hotels that need to generate incremental bookings and want to run their own local promotions do so. No more halo benefit accruing to non-participating properties.
