Were they booked over a Starwood booking resource? For example, a branded web site, spg.com, the Customer Contact Center or hotel directly?

Stackable w/ Elite Gift

Lurker,

Is this promo stackable with the Platinum Elite gift where you can choose double points for the month of Oct, Nov or Dec?

Hi bzz100,

The bonus points for SPG Take Two and the Elite gift Double Starpoints will be calculated independently.

Thanks for your help, William.

3 nights at the Sheraton Grande were booked via Carlson Wagonlit (our corporate travel agency) We have a corporate rate as our Bangkok office is across the street. 7 nights at the Sheraton Saigon were booked on the SPG site (I received an email from SPG regarding a special rate for Vietnam National Day and booked this rate).

If you normally earn Starpoints and stay credit for the Carlson Wagonlit bookings, then that probably isn't going to change and it would qualify for this offer. Other than this, any rate booked over a Starwood proprietary web site, other than some select group offers, is eligible to earn for this as well.

Which, I guess, means they may opt out after I've stayed there???

The W times square opt out at the last minute was nasty. But you know what, I have a one night stay there, refundable and I get in late, around midnight, so honestly I don't care, I'll just switch to the Sheraton. If this had been a multi night vacation type stay I'd be really mad.

I have earned points without issues for CWT rates, including during the previous double take promo. Those were doubled without problems. Should work just fine.

I agree the opt out lists are starting to look like Hilton's promos.

Seriously. I guess I will just keep monitoring my upcoming stays to make sure the properties remain opted in.

I now have 20 night reserved over the time period. I have another 20 nights I would book - but since they capped the promo at 20, I'll see what sort of deals I can find at Marriott or Hilton. Sad that, can't understand why they cap the bonuses. Just pushes us to alternate chains.

I'd be surprised if there were changes after the official registration window has opened, but we could be surprised here. It's such a last minute hack that the W Times Square is actually listed as W - Time Square on the exclusion list

At least there's the Chatwal, Sheraton TS & Westin GC still on the list in NYC. I could be having to go into Boston ... I really wanted to try the W TS, but for the stay (getting into LGA at 11, leaving the following afternoon after day at work) and for the fact offices are at Park and GCT it's really not a big deal at all and in the end just moved myself to the Westin GC. I'll take the bed, the convenience and the bonuses.

And the Aloft Harlem.

Why does everyone seem to think Manhattan ends at Central Park?

You're quite right, I was just focusing on spots from where I could walk to Grand Central

Although I can't blame the SF properties for opting out, I too would like to see a promotion without properties opt-ing out.

They did that last year, where the promo was funded entirely by SPG and everyone complained that the promo wasn't good enough.

Lurkers...
Are the non-participating properties out of just the double portion of the promo, or the whole thing? Meaning...if I stay 16 nights at a participating hotel, and 4 nights at a non participating do I get 10k or 7500 pts?

No. They would only be eligible at the properties which have opted-in.
