Bull. They used to "bother" because they are high-margin revenue generators. They no longer are. It has very little to do with customer service, IMHO.

My bad for not looking at the list earlier, but was just booking a NYC / BOS trip for early November and am surprised at how long the list of non-participating hotels in those cities is (well, basically ALL of the hotels there). Also explains why I didn't see the double points on my recent stay at W-Chicago City Center. I need to remember to check the opt-out list more closely in the future, but this really takes the value for this promo away for me. Also just cancelled a reservation at Westin Minneapolis and will change it to one of the many other great Starwoods in that city that are participating.

How long for these points to post? All my other points posted for my recent stay at the Sheraton Suites Old Town Alexandria except for the Take Two. I know I'm enrolled in the promo because the Take Two points posted on other stays.

Usually takes a couple of days but sometimes up to two weeks. If the hotel didn't properly post the points (eg: posted the points for incidentals but not the room rate), the take two points won't show up either.

You SHOULD receive bonus points for the paid night. If you don't, tell SPG Customer service (or the hotel itself) that you didn't get proper credit and it will be fixed.

Mixed award-paid stays do not invalidate stay or nights credit for the paid portion, as long as it's a valid paid rate.

Oh - one more thing: welcome to Flyertalk

Does the stay have to be booked at spg.com? Can you not call the hotel directly to book? I checked out two days ago and received my points for the stay, but not the bonus points.

Just as an FYI, the bonus points from this do not post with the stay credit. They will come with the next sweep that occurs after the stay credit applies, provided that the tenets of the offer have been met.

In my case for example.

Seems to be done weekly.

Have been spending a lot more nights at Hiltons, because their promotion in the 4th quarter is a lot better.

Ive been waiting for more than a week. Does the stay have to be booked on spg.com or can it be booked directly with the hotel to qualify?

It can be booked with the hotel as long as the stay was eligible. Did the property participate in this offer?

Didn't pay attention to the long NON PARTICIPATING HOTELS list. Now I found I had 5 nights @ hotels on the list, and a couple more coming. I don't recall there were so many hotels not participate in before. Is this a new trend? Anyway, I will read the list more carefully in the future.

Btw, does Air Canada "9,000 more reason to stay" promo has the same non participating hotel list? Thx
