It can take up to 7 business days from the day you qualified for your Lifetime Platinum status to be picked up by the system.

Starwood / Marriott merger
Q : What will happen to my Lifetime Status when the programs merge together in the future?
A : Rest assured we will always recognize your Lifetime Status, whether it is today in your earned program or in the future with a new, combined program.

Before this, wasnt the under the radar (unofficial) qualification for the 'platinum for life' 10 consecutive years rather than the present reqs of any 10 years of platinum+500 nights?

Thanks,

I've paid attention to the Starwood forum for at least a decade, and i've never heard of an "unofficial" Lifetime Plat.

How does one find our their stays for these two goals now that the new website design no longer has this info listed on the opening page once logged into your account?

Thanks

Though, as has been noted in the website thread, this only shows the total number of nights, and not the number of years at elite level : this disappeared in the October website makeover.

According to SPG, my wife is 9 years plat at the moment. She has requalified for 2015, would end 2014 with 490+ nights (unlikely to hit 500 which will happen sometime 2015 Jan/ Feb).
Would she need to requalify for Platinum in 2015 as well to get lifetime platinum, or will 500 nights be sufficient as she is platinum for 2015 anyway? The answer she got from SPG helpline was not clear.
TIA for clarifications.

Thank you! I meant to mention that in my post as well. Wonder why they decided to hide this level of detail.

The data was of limited use as it didn't differentiate between the number of years at gold and platinum levels : you still had to call in to find that out.

Hopefully, if/when that feature returns, it will have been enhanced to show the years at each level.

If being platinum in 2015 is her 10th year as plat, then she only needs to complete the 500 nights requirement.

Thanks for the clarification. This is what I thought.
Apparently the agent told her she needs to complete 10 years as platinum, you are on 9th year in 2014 so you will be life time platinum after 10 years I.e. 2016.

She needs to requalify for Platinum in 2015 AND have over 500 nights. You can't start to requalify for 2015 until 1 January 2015. Regular Platinum status is valid until 29 Feb 2016 but 2015 qualification is based on the year the nights/stays are EARNED.

So, I've earned Platinum in each of the years from 2005-2013 inclusive (nine years). Unfortunately, in 2014, I will only have earned enough nights to get to Gold. Right now I'm sitting at 494 nights total.

I believe that my Platinum status as earned in 2013 will expire sometime in early 2015 (February, right?) Sometime between now and then, I'll certainly stay six nights, bringing me to 500 nights total. I'd be lifetime Platinum at that point, except for the fact that I have only nine years Platinum. Is that correct?

Am I correct in thinking that these ten years of Platinum don't need to be consecutive? (I really hope so.) And so, in 2015, or whatever next year I earn Platinum status, is when I'll get SPG Lifetime Platinum?

I've heard that Starwood does something special when you hit 500 nights. In my case, however, 500 nights won't be when I've earned Lifetime Platinum. Will they wait until I actually requalify for Platinum?

No, it doesn't have to be 10 years consecutive, like lifetime FB Platinum. You can skip this year and try again next year or the year after, etc.

And no, Starwood does nothing special for your 500th night. You can try to drop a hint at whatever hotel you will pass your 500th night and see if they feel generous.

Hi lollertank,

If you are referencing members earned gold by spending $30K on the SPG Amex, the answer is yes. It will count towards the year requirement for Lifetime Gold status.
