Are you not going at all, or will just be checking in after your father at some point? If the latter, they shouldn't be canceling your SNAs.

No. I have reservations with both my name and + 1's that have been successfully SNA'd.

Did you read the T&C?
Can I give Suite Night Awards as a gift or transfer them to someone else?

Your Suite Night Awards are for your use only. You may not gift or transfer them. However, if you’re traveling with family and require two rooms you may request an upgrade for both rooms as long as you have enough Suite Night Awards to cover all nights for each room. Please note that both rooms must be confirmed under your name and you must stay in one of the rooms.

Is the room only for your parents, or will you simply not be there for them to check in and you will be arriving later?

As noted, you cannot give SNAs to someone else. I can see why SPG would think "I'm just adding a name to the reservation, I'll be arriving later" is an attempt to work around the rules, even though it is a valid scenario.

If you are not actually staying, then there is nothing to do. If you are, and want the upgrade, you may need to keep only your name and have your parents hang out until you arrive.

Another loophole closed... Plain and simple.

SNAs are for the member only, not "... and anyone you know". Now that's not to say the hotel might still extend an upgrade. If it's a special occasion, you might try calling the property and see what they are willing to do.

It would be nice if we got some points for the SNA's that are going to expire.
1000 would be generous. 500 would be nice. 0 is expected.
Looking back, I got nothing for the ones that expired in April.

In the past, didn't they extend these pretty liberally? I recall having several extended due to a complete lack of success in using them.

It looks like I will have 5 of these expire, unless they get extended, although I'm not holding my breath.

The system really needs a reboot. These almost never clear on stays I really want them to. I had 3 nights upgraded into a lovely suite at the Westin Gurgaon. 2 other nights cleared at a boring Sheraton I stay at frequently. I only applied the SNA since they were going to expire anyway. Recent stays at this property did not have a SNA clear.

The suggestion mentioned above to redeem these for SPG points would be a good one. Better than nothing.

Suite Nights Award came through and room got downgraded

Sorry if this has been posted already but I just cannot read through all 189 pages.

So here it goes:

I booked a four night reservation, standard room and also asked for an upgrade to deluxe suite using my SNA's.

Yesterday I looked at the reservation and noticed that the room was now upgraded to a Royal Club Suite (which is one notch better than the deluxe suite). The SNA was still pending.

This morning I received an email stating my SNA had come through. However when I looked at the reservation my room had now been downgraded to a deluxe suite.

Have emailed SPG but so far no answer.

So basically I have used four SNA's to get my room downgraded

Yes, there are some (spelled M-A-N-Y) glitches in the system especially if the property tries to do a Plt update with SNA pending. Your best bet is to PM the Lurkers with your stay details and ask them to check things out. They may be able to get things sorted out before you arrive.

Good luck.

Yes, the first year of the program had a lot of issues and that is why the granted the extension. I wouldn't expect it again this year.

Sorry, but this really doesn't appear to be a system glitch if the SNA's assigned the exact suite that was chosen for their use.

Instead, it sounds like someone at the property manually upgraded to a higher suite type and the system then did it's job as expected.

We can certainly ask the property if they are still willing to go above and beyond, but this is the outcome I would expect if SNA's are at play...to get the suite type chosen when the SNA's were applied.

1. If you leave it to the hotel to decide the upgrade, there is a chance that your Royal Club Suite would have been downgraded by the time you reached the hotel. Not often, but I think it happens.

2. If you leave it to the SNA system, it does what it does.

Personally, I check fairly frequently. And if I have been upgraded prior to the SNA system poll, I cancel the the SNAs and take my chances.

This thread is quite long so apologies in advance if this has been answered numerous times:

I've booked a higher category room (still below SNA suite category) on points at the W Vieques, but my Ambassador says I'm not able to use my SNAs on the reservation. What gives?

There isn't enough information provided to even offer a guess, but if you'd like for us to look into it further, send the confirmation number to the email address below. Or, if you'd prefer to remain anonymous to us, ask your Ambassador to make inquiries through their available channels.
