How can I say this so it doesn't need to be repeated?

Actually, I stayed at Sheraton Macao last year and used one of my SNAs. Was upgraded to a small suite. My friend who was travelling with me did not use a SNA and was upgraded to a huge suite. So maybe using a SNA is not always a good idea.

Yes I thoroughly checked that all suites were available, I made some dummy bookings in the future and found the same result in all cases.
I think you're right, it is possibly a remnant from when they did not participate in SPG at all.
Maybe this hotel needs a nudge to flag some room categories for SNA availability.

Previously confirmed Suite Night Award not available at check-in
This is a first for me: my SNAs for this weekend were confirmed via email earlier this week. But when I arrived at the hotel (San Diego Sheraton Marina), I'm told they actually sold out of those suites for tonight. What? I was confirmed, and had the email. They wanted to put me in another building (down the street, around the corner), but I always want the main building here - more convenient, this is where the lounge is, and this is where I make my reservations for. Had to settle for a downgrade to another type of room they also call a 'suite, but it's not what I ticked when I requested the SNA, and it's really just a larger room with a couch. Wonder if I'll get my SNAs back?? I've alreafy emailed my ambassador about the situation. Huge disappointment after being told the requested suite was confirmed.

Trying to burn 3 of my last SNAs from tomorrow at SLS Beverly Hills, however nothing so far. I guess I will lose these SNAs
The requested upgrades were for a Studio Suite or Lifestyle Suite which are not available, however other Suites are available but I guess the SNAs may not apply.

I used the Platinum chat thing on spg.com, sent the concierge a message, and basically bugged SPG from about 4 different angles to see what gives.
I suppose the drawback to SNA is that you get an upgrade to a 'standard' suite, but nothing greater. Each hotel can put their own limitation on that...there were probably 3-4 suite levels above the Premier suite at Grosvenor house.
That experience made my stay slightly negative. If you are an SPG Plat 50/75/100 and you use a suite night award, you should be given a room comparable to a suite they could upgrade you to if you had not used the SNA.
When I stayed in Abu Dhabi at the St. Regis (probably my favorite SPG hotel), they gave me their second best suite with an amazing view of the beach, downtown AD, and the corniche when I arrived. This time around I used a SNA and got an even better room, however, the view wasn't as good. If I were to go back, I'd probably not use a SNA and ask for the suite I got the first time.
I'm thinking SPG should change the language that SNA get you a standard suite when just showing up can get you a better suite based on status...seems kind of backwards.

If I get you right, you were able to actually select suites when applying the SNAs, but now someone has emailed you after the fact to tell you that firstly they are going to reject your SNAs, and secondly that they are going to stop accepting SNAs?
Could we know who emailed you?
Should the hotel be allowed to "retroactively" change policy like this? Tch tch.

When I applied to use the SNAs there were 2 different suites to select but remember there is no guarantee, as they only start checking 5 days before check in. I got an email saying they were no available suites therefore couldn't use the SNAs.

Oh. That's different. So basically your SNAs did not clear - presumably the email is the automated one we get on the last day of SNA system checking saying that the SNAs did not clear?
What did you mean then that the hotel said it was not accepting SNAs after this?

With expiration approaching on 12/31, I have a question.
Does the expiration date concern the BOOKING DATE or the STAY DATE? For example, I book on Nov 10 for a stay on Jan 15.
Thank you
