DFW Lounge options

This isn't just a Star Alliance post, but since I'm star gold I thought this would be the place to start.

I know there's a UA club...I THINK there's an LH lounge, there's a skyclub (which I can't access and they don't sell passes unless you're travelling DL), a couple other third party ones I don't have access to.

I've got about 12 hours to kill in Dallas, no MAJOR desire to leave the airport, but I gotta figure out what to do in that time, 10am-10pm.

http://upgrd.com/aerospace/lufthansa...sft-worth.html

I had found this blog post that suggests one can access the LH lounge just by having a star gold card (I'm star gold, I don't have a card, I know my Aeroplan number and I have a picture of that card, but they don't really give us a Star Gold card per se) even when not travelling on Star. In this case I'm on AC YYZ-DFW then AA DFW-MEX then CM MEX-PTY.

Does anyone know if I can access the LH lounge? If not, where should I go? I don't MIND paying the $50 for AA access but if there's something better I'll go for it. Unfortunately I don't have an AMEX anymore so looks like centurion is out.

Since you're a Star Alliance Gold and are traveling internationally, you should be able to access the Lufthansa Lounge or United Club. Just to be sure, look for the Star Alliance Gold logo at the entrance to the lounge.

The OP isn't departing on a *A flight from DFW on this itinerary so both the UA Club and the LH lounge are out. *A lounge access in MEX but not DFW.

There is a contract lounge that's quite decent if you have a Diners Club card, I believe Priority Pass as well. I forget the name of it off the top of my head, but using Diners Club lounge finder will point it out. Other than that, it sounds like AA would be your only other option.

That's kinda what I thought, I screwed myself a bit on this booking cuz it was cheap haha. In MEX I won't even have access because I'm there from 0015-0430 gonna have to sit outside that 7-11 and just watch stuff on my laptop, last time I was there they didn't have wifi I don't think either, oh well!

So I guess the blog post I linked to was an exception then huh? In his post he mentioned to the LH lounge agent that he wasn't travelling on *A but she said as long as he was Gold he was good to enter. I might give it a shot, but if someone actually knew for sure I'd love to hear one way or the other.

The funny thing is the lounge finder doesn't mention anything about this LH lounge, but I know it's not perfect. The LH site lists it as a Star Gold lounge, mentions the limited hours, but it says you have to have a valid LH boarding pass, which I think it's been said is false.

According to United's Website, If you have the Star Alliance Gold logo on your boarding pass, you can access the United Club with a same day boarding pass. I take this to mean that he could present his Air Canada YYZ-DFW and get in provided the Star Alliance Gold logo is on the pass, despite the fact that it is not a departing flight. You're probably right in saying he couldn't access the Lufthansa Lounge, I overlooked a little detail there.

Weymar, it also says though "boarding pass for travel on a flight operated by a Star Alliance member airline and [b]departing[\b] from the same airport" preventing people from using it as an arrivals lounge or doing what you just said. I appreciate the effort though, you ALMOST had me

Now...this next part they post is interesting. It says OR...

"A same-day boarding pass showing Star Alliance Gold status, for travel within 24 hours on a flight operated by a Star Alliance member airline"

I would be in possession of a same day boarding pass showing Star alliance gold status. Now if they got sticky and said "for travel within 24 hours" suggest a future flight, well I'd have that too as my flight from MEX would be departing within 24 hours of me presenting myself to the lounge, and that flight is on Star and would reflect my status.

In the end I think I'm screwed here, I could ask, but I think the conventional entry requirements have me beat here and while the wording could be improved I don't think any lounge agent would let me in based on that premise haha

It'll be interesting to have you come back and update this thread with your actual experience trying the UA and LH lounges. I recall there being a caveat there that it has to be at the departing airport of the *A flight but maybe that only applied to First Class lounges, I can't remember now. I know I was denied access to the First Lounge in NRT when flying OZ and connecting to OZ F in ICN since we only have C service from NRT.

At DFW I've only done it flying Y domestic (HNL), so had to use the Diners Club lounge, though in hindsight could have probably used the LH lounge as well.
