Skyteam RTW Economy ticket - can I use my SWUs?

I have 6 Delta system wide upgrade certificates ... the ones that require you to book in Y B or M for Intl in order to be upgradeable to business class.

My question is if I buy a Skyteam RTW ticket, will my bookings be in an eligible class for service for using these?

According to ExpertFlyer, the booking class on DL for an economy RTW ticket is L with fare basis LRTWSKY3, LRTWSKY2, or LRTWSKY1. Thus, it appears the answer is no. (Business RTW book into I and first RTW book into A.)

You cannot upgrade an RTW ticket, independently of your certificates.

Hi Kate, welcome to Flyertalk.
Austrian and Lufthansa are not part of Skyteam, but part of Star Alliance. So you are asking your quesiton in the wrong forum.
Nevertheless, the cheapest fare available on the dates you specified is not K, it is T on the outbound and S on the return (which in total is about 80 EUR more expensive than K).
You should be able to book this on websites like opodo or expedia or via a travel agent.

I understand from previous posts that on ST RTW i is not possible to upgrade.

Is it possible to skip a section? What I mean is, I might fancy using some miles to take advantage of a promo for a particular section (assuming I already have bough my RTW icket). I accept that I would be paying twice for that section.

I have done this before on the return leg of a journey, and they seemed quite happy with it. I believe I could not do it (officially) on the outward leg of a cheap economy journey, as this would invalidate the return leg (or something like that). My memory may be faulty, but I think I managed this once, and it comes back to 'it depends who you talk with'. Anyway, that's an aside really.

Thanks for any help.

This is a great tool to determine pricing developed by sbm12 - http://www.wandr.me/RTW_Fares.aspx/

I would have thought the treatment of a missed sector would be the same as missing the first leg of a return flight. Maybe you can call them up to have the sector deleted and converted to an open jaw?

I just called the Delta RTW reservation desk and I have a few questions for the board:

1. Is there a new direct RTW desk number? I tried an old one that I had, but that got me to CS supervisors, who then transferred me.

2. I was told that I now only have 2 options: Economy or Business. In other words, the first class option (340,000) no longer exists. Can anybody confirm this or did I just receive some wrong info?

3. If there are still three options, are there any benefits to F vs. J? I know this has been asked before and there used to be no benefits, but wondering if anything changed over the years with some partners leaving, others joining, etc.

Thanks!

Considering that you can't redeem for simple awards in international F, I'd say it's safe to assume that you can't redeem for a RTW F award.
