I agree. UX is a FB Associate airline, so you would have to book with AF or KL. And when it comes to RTW's, AF and KL do not have a special RTW desk like other airlines. I have found some great AF agents that are trained on RTW's, but you have to know where to find them. Otherwise, it is best to use an AF/KL approved travel agency.

Even in F on KE, it's only 200% now (it was 300% before).:td::td::td:

For F on KE it's now 165%.

Well, I had gone to a TA when I was in MAR and even gave them a sample itinerary, but it's been two weeks and they haven't emailed me yet...I guess they are not interested/can't be bothered...

A non-Venezuelan travel agent wouldn't be useful, as they are unlikely to want to be paid in Bolivars in cash. ;)

I would do two things. First, ask the AF office in Caracas (is there one?) to recommend a travel agent. Then as a backup, go to the finest hotel in the city, and ask the head concierge to recommend his top travel agency.

recent price list?

Does anyone have a recently-updated price list for RTW fares ex-asia? I'm trying to decide between leaving from ICN or SIN or NRT.

thanks!

There is an AF office in CCS. Finding its phone number may be a challenge, though (the ones I've tried all bring me to the central call centre with just a Spanish voice greeting). As for physically going to the city of Caracas to enquire about things, let's just say that an abundance of caution is paramount (so I wouldn't be that keen to do it- I'd rather just fly to CCS and take the first domestic out to MAR or PMV or something).

wow cool, thanks so much! What are the biz fares from NRT/SIN? I assume ICN is substantially cheaper?
This is great.

And, if I purchase a CO ticket now, will it actually be with skyteam AND CO? or will it be a *A ticket?

only KL, AM, DL and CO, but you can use all ST flights.
Don't forget you have to add taxes, depending on your journey.

These fares are in EUR, and the ex-ICN ones are in USD ... looks like ICN is cheaper.

Perhaps it makes more sense to just buy a CO RTW ticket if I can actually use skyteam + CO ...

RTW in November

Hi All

Hoping for some guidance from the experts here. I am looking at a RTW ticket in November for work in Business Class.
Minneapolis - Sydney
SYD - Melbourne (not included)
MEL - Dubai
Dubai -NYC
NYC - MSP

The leg that is catching me up is the Melbourne to Dubai. AMEX wants to route me on Southern China Airlines through Guangzhou, China. This seems to me a bit out of the way (two 9-hour flights) and I also can't find a whole lot about this airline. How is the Business Class? Are there other options since Malaysia Airlines is out of SkyTeam?

By the way, total cost I am being quotes is $9,600.

THANKS for your help!

stimpy Sep 25, 2009 3:10 am

You should ask over on the Asian airline forum about China Southern's business class. I think your only other option might be Korean, which would be a long haul too.

If it were me, I would use Oneworld for this particular RTW so you could use QF. But if you must use Skyteam, why not enjoy a holiday weekend in Korea or China?

Henry III Sep 25, 2009 3:30 am

MEL-CAN-DXB isn't going that much out of the way ... it's more like going round the edge of the rectangle rather than using its diagonal.

But, as per previous post, why not take a day or two off work in Guangzhou, from where you could even (I imagine) make a short visit to Hong Kong.
