RTW and Flying Blue

some more precision for FB: AF V earns 50% outside of Europe from april 1st. This will make RTW trips very badly affected.

For Flying Blue members, economy RTW gives around no miles (25% or 0%) since April 1st
Even in F on KE, it's only 200% now (it was 300% before).:td::td::td:

I'm thinking of buying a ST C-RTW ex-EU. Are there any specials going on now? Or is it still about €6500 before taxes and surcharges?

The good old "World traveller" or "World Journey" RTW program (with amongst others CO, KL, NW, MH) will be discontinued from October 2009, also the month in which CO will leave Skyteam.

As per previous posts, check pricing ex-UK and ex-ZAG...My hunch is that, unless you need the 39,000-mile one, you should be able to do a bit better than that price...

Hi,

Always want to do a RTW trip. Might be able to talk hubby into it this time. Please help me understand how it works. It appears that I have call my airline which is CO to make reservations and get pricing, right? Is there anyway to do this on CO.COM? From reading the previous posts, prices depending on the originating city. Would one of you experts mind tell me the cost for EX-IAH?

I am not sure if the spread sheet is right, but F fares EX-Malta are as low as $4400??

I mean, this is an island with very easy access from Europe: fares EX-Italy for instance are starting at $16,000!

Does discontinued mean that if I ticket it before this date, I can use it until 365 days after the first flight?

I hope so. I emailed KQ reservations yesterday with this question but haven't heard from them since.

Nope. You'll be the first to know, ladies and gentlemen. Maybe somebody else should try another carrier meanwhile? (I mailed KQ as they are the only carrier out of SEZ which is where I want to fly from if the fare in SCR is right :D).

I spoke to some NWA agent who told me that if I bought this fare, I'd have to complete all travel by the end of october 2009. I don't know if I believe him though.

No, you have one year to travel.
Perhaps your TA spoke about the end of Continental in Skyteam...

Earning miles on RTW tickets?

Hi folks! I'm a RTW novice, so please forgive me if this is question is either stupid or answered elsewhere (though I haven't been able to find it), :o but does anybody know how FFP miles are awarded for a paid RTW itinerary?

To be a wee bit more specific: if I buy, say, a business-class RTW 29,000 miles package, do I get the "I/J/Z/C" rate for exactly 29,000 miles, or do I get miles awarded for each segment actually flown?

The latter could work out quite well if I take a few European (and/or US domestic) short hops, as I'm with Flying Blue and I'll get a minimum of 1,500 level miles for any I/Z/C class Europe Select segments. This also seems to me to be a half-decent way of maintaining elite/elite+ status - if it works at all! :)

Thanks for your help.

You will earn miles for each individual and specific flight flown. The 29k is just used for calculating the RTW and has nothing to do with mileage accrual.

I think whether you get 125% or 150% or 200% per segment will depend on what program you credit the miles too. If you are using FB, I'm not sure with the new rules. The flights themselves ought to be D class on a business RTW, but I haven't done a Skyteam RTW in a year or so.
