Hello,
I was looking to rent a car for 7 days, renting in London and returning to Manchester, and is there is a reason the prices are so different depending on whether i first rent from LHR vs another city location, such as St Pancras? The specific car class I am looking at - ILMR - is about £21 more per day from St Pancras (which really adds up)... Also, I understand I can request a car make when I make a reservation - is there any way to check the inventory of the BMW 1 series at the LHR location? I'd like to try Sixt, but am also tempted by the convenience of the avis Select program where they'll guarantee a specific model. Thanks! |
Hi yoogene,
Our prices do vary between locations as they are dependant on availability at that particular location. Rates increase if the availabilty is lower. Our London Heathrow location is also classed as a location on it's own and not within the London network, due to how busy they do get. The fleet is their own and very rarely gets moved between locations. This will also be a reason why the rates do vary. What information in particular would you like to know about the 1 series at Heathrow? I shall speak with them on your behalf and find out everything I can for you. I hope this helps. Many thanks, Louise.

Thanks so much for the reply - the prices do seem much better at LHR vs the rail locations. My question about the 1-series was which models were available - i checked this thread and found an older answer that said it was the 120d for the UK?
I've reserved a car and was wondering if I could have a note added to state the BMW preference (again, if available). Thanks!

No problem. The BMW 1 series at Heathrow are mostly 118 saloons that are diesels with a mix of auto and manual. We also have one 116 saloon that is a petrol, manual transmission and two 120 saloons that are diesel, manuals.
If you want to send me a private message with your reservation number on, I'd be more than happy to put your vehicle request on there for you. I hope this helps. Thanks, Louise.

Hi Louise,
I have a rental for LAX location, PCAR (mercedes CLA) in 14 days. May i know what fleet of cars they use at that location for PCAR LCAR and XCARs as i have the option to upgrade to these groupings by changing my booking and paying an additional 30 USD. Also i am planning to drive to Las vegas which would cross states. I have tickets booked for flight out of LAX to Europe. I fly in from Asia. Can my booking be used to waive the cross state mileage fees? Appreciate your advise. Thanks! |
Hi zyrofillica,
As requested, please see the vehicles in each category below: PCAR - Mercedes Benz CLA, Volvo S60, Volvo V60 LCAR - Cadillac ATS, Mercedes Benz C Class, BMW 3 Series XCAR - BMW 5 Series, Mercedes Benz E Class, Cadillac XTS You will also be fine travelling across the state to Las Vegas and will not incur charges for doing so. I hope this information helps and if you need anything else please let me know. Many thanks, Louise.

Thanks for the reply Louise,
i heard USA only uses the ATS and XTS in the LCAR and XCAR category and the other cars are unavailable. for the PCAR category, which car is common? I would like to put in a request for a Mercedes CLA rental otherwise if not available i would consider upgrading to XCAR just to get the XTS. Appreciate your advise. Thanks.

They've told me that they do not have CLA at MIA, but that they are expecting them. I would call the station to ask. They're always helpful. BTW, the ordinarily very good rates do NOT apply right now. I went to national for a rental tomorrow for a week because Sixt was three times the price. It has taken me a long time to figure out the obvious: Sixt US pricing is deeply influenced by continental Europe travel to US, and MIA, in another shock, is driven by European holiday peaks. Ordinarily, including September and October, Sixt is quite competitive. I have rentals booked in both these months. Finally, arriving early morning I have always been offered a variety of cars, sometimes with up charges. They have a fair variety of entertaining cars there. |
Hi there!
We (5 people) booked a car from LAX to LAS. I know that the Sixt booking system allows only 1 additional driver to be added. I already searched this forum and other sites, but there are quite a few different opinions out there, about how many additional drivers you can add. Some say only one, others say as many as you want, as long as they're printed on the rental agreement. Others say some Sixt locations won't allow more than one additional driver. Can somebody clear that up for us, as we planned that all 5 of us take turns driving the car. Thanks in advance. Michael |
Thanks jbcarioca for your input.
I have just upgraded my sixt booking to an Xcar with navigation and personnal accident insurance. Basically i paid upfront for all the bells and whistles for this booking. This will be my first ever Sixt booking. I travel to the states and europe often for business and holidays and rent from other companies. If sixt experience is good, i could probably make platinum sixt membership within the year. I know the LA location is new, i hope they have a wide range of car models to select from! :D which engine model of the 5 series did u have in MIA?

I rent regularly from Sixt in MIA, but so far not elsewhere in the USA. So far this year I have had E350, GLK 350, BMW 4-series convertible (they have lots of them right now, all new), BMW 5-series, X3 and X5. I always have reserved PCAR with Loyalty 2 rate.

Hi Louise,
I have a reservation at Paris-Charles De Gaulle for a CDAR. The example car is a Renault Megane. If possible, could you tell me what else is in that class at CDG? Your assistance is much appreciated. Thank you |
Hi,
Leave this with me, I shall contact the branch to find out and come back to you as soon as possible. Thanks, Louise.

All the BMW I have had from Sixt in US were gasoline. The 5's have all been 530's but their inventory varies, so I'm sure they have others.
