Excellent advice. Now I can be sure to easily make that connection on the same day!
Thank you! ^

Would 40 minutes be sufficient for a F to J SQ to SQ flight at SIN? This would be a 4pm if that helps?

No, 40 minutes isn't sufficient at all especially with T2-T3 transfer (or v.v.).

The official MCT at Changi, even for SQ on-line connections, is 1 hour.

I was recently booked on SQ232 SYD-SIN arriving 17:45 at T3 connecting with SQ978 SIN-BKK departing 18:35 from T2. This allowed a connection time of 50 min.

Didn't get time for the lounge but had time for some shopping!!

With the fact that now SQ uses T2 and T3, 40 minutes connecting time might not be possible, even in the premium cabin. It would be unfortunate if you arrive at the farthest gate of T3 and have to depart from the farthest gate at T2.
Changi is not a bad place to wait for a flight. Thus, a longer connection time would be better.

SQ861 connecting SQ452

I am looking at a potentially tight connection myself and would appreciate feedback from more experience SQ/SIN travellers:

I am looking at taking SQ861 on June 11th with scheduled landing 19:20. Taking this as a KF redemption (expensive I know!) to try out biz on the A380. We are then connecting to SQ452 which is on a USAir redemption scheduled at 20:35. So 75 minutes in between ... I'm thinking this is good but SQ452 is once daily so if we miss it we're in trouble and would SQ help us out given that one is SQ ticketed and on is USAir? I would also like to be able to check bags all the way through from HKG-MLE. Will they allow?

On separate tickets you bear the risk of misconnection. While it is probably fine you only need 861 to be a little late to run into problems.

MCT@SIN w/2 different tickets

I am currently trying to finalize a trip in August. I already booked the following ticket with Lufthansa using the Easter Z-Class special:

27AUG FRA-SIN LH778
11SEP SIN-FRA LH779

However, I am planning to continue from SIN to DPS and part of that trip will likely be a diving cruise out of Bali, returning to Bali on 11SEP@9 a.m. Hence, technically it would be possible to catch SQ943 DPS-SIN 1305-1535. This scenario would leave me more than enough time to reach LH779 at 2305. However, if SQ943 is canceled I doubt if the following connection would be legal:

DPS-SIN SQ947 2005-2235
SIN-FRA LH779 2305-0530+1

I guess that I could check my luggage all the way through to Germany and I could use OLCI for the SIN-FRA segment, but in reality:

would that be an option and doable (assuming that neither SQ947 is not delayed and LH779 is departing on time)? Don't get me wrong my intention is definitely to book SQ943, but I am trying to verify if SQ947 would be a backup option in case something doesn't work out with SQ943 on the day of travel.

Thanks a lot for any feedback.

A better backup option would be to get to Jakarta and get them to either get you on a SQ flight out of there (if they'd let you) or to join LH779 there.

Minimum connection time does not apply for separate tickets!

If you have separate tickets then you bear the misconnection risk yourself.

If you miss SQ943 there is only 3K116 DPSSIN 1415 1650 on the direct route. Via CGK there are 4 flights (on Lion & Garuda) that leave after 1400 and arrive CGK by 1730, which should be enough time to make LH779 from CGK (dep 1900).

AirAsia also operate a service at 1740/2015. But 5 months is a long time in Air Asia scheduling, so who knows by Sep....

Thanks for all your responses. I decided to book a Flex Ticket on the JetStar Service to SIN as a backup:

DPS-SIN JQ116 1415-1650

So I have a b/u plan in place.
