If you start the trip from BKK, you can get out and in BKK twice, correct?
No, once you return to the origin, you're done.

Kiwiflyer, aren't you better off buying a FRWSTAR1 than buying CRWSTAR3? The price difference is only about US$100 according to the prices listed in the Star forum. You will get a little less PPS sectors (27 the most I can come up with) but at least you're in F!

Maybe - havent looked into it. I am used to RTWs that include AKL needing to be at least RWSTAR2 if not RWSTAR3 to be useful as we're so far out of the way here. But if ex-BKK dont include AKL in RTW and a separate tix BKK-AKL-BKK that may work?

Not with BKK you're not. If you're on an ex-BKK ticket you are allowed to transit BKK later in the trip.

Ex-BKK: CRTW3 is THB 253,790, and FRTW1 is THB 286,490. Thus, the difference is about THB 32,700 or approximately about USD 825.
Again, there is a trade-off between 39,000 miles allowance and 29,000 miles only. Also, it will depend on the routing. Better use CRTW if I have to be flying SIN-ICN-YVR (2-class service only) then YVR-FRA LH in the winter (2-class as well).

I was doing exercise in RTW planning. But it seems I have more than 39,000 miles. It's a PPS run. And I want to do SQ metal, no code-share, to reduce the probability of missing sector credits.

BKK-XSIN-AKL-XSIN-ZRH-MAN-XZRH-FRA-JFK-YVR-ICN-SIN-KIX-BKK

30 sectors, but over the mileage. What to reduce? Taking MAN-FRA on LH will bring within mileage allowance, but only 28.75 sectors.

BKK-XSIN-AKL-SIN-ZRH-MAN-XZRH-FRA-JFK-LAX-NRT-XBKK-KIX-BKK

30 sectors. And, it's 39,003 miles per my hand-calculation.

Hi

Could you guys confirm that CMB-SIN-SFO-SIN-CMB in C would earn 12.5 sectors ? and therefore doing this trip twice would earn PPS ?

Thanks

Yes. although if you structured it carefully you could get 15 instead of 12.5

Would it be possible to do a PPS run on a CRTWSTAR1?

I would like to do CPH-SIN-TPE-NRT-ICN-PVG-SIN-LAX-JFK-FRA-CPH which is approx 29k using great circle mapper. How many segments would this be (how do you calculate it?).

Thanks for your help

When you say 'structured' do you mean add in an additional stop somewhere or fly in F ?

CPH-SIN 6193 3.75 sectors
SIN-TPE 2002 1.25 sectors
PVG-SIN 2357 1.25 sectors
SIN-LAX 8763 5
JFK-FRA 3847 2.5 sectors
Total sectors earned 13.75.
CPH-SIN just short from the 5 sectors earning (6214 miles being the border).

For SIN-LAX, if you take nonstop, you have to pay a surcharge. You can do SIN-HKG-SFO-LAX (which total still below 29,000 miles), and you will gain 1.25 sectors for SIN-HKG (HKG-SFO will get you 5 like SIN-LAX). Total 15 sectors.

Thanks! I'd like to try the A345 service SIN-LAX, would you recommend it?

Any other recommendations to reach the holy 25 sectors?
(maybe a additional CMB-SIN-LAX?)

No - instead of taking SQ 2 SIN-HKG-SFO you could go SIN-HKG on SQ866 to connect to SQ2 HKG-SFO. That nets you 1.25 CMB-SIN, 1.25 SIN-HKG and 5 HKG-SFO for a total of 7.5 instead of CMB-SIN 1.25, SIN-SFO for 5 = 6.25

One good place to look is always silkair.com

Last month they had specials to all over in business class.

I found a fare to SOC - Solo City for 639SGD, which includes tax. Not a bad going rate for 2.5 quick sectors, if you just need to top up.

That particular fare is gone, but they do have them from time to time - so check there.
