We flew in these seats last year, and there was a group of pajama wearing co-workers who got drunk and LOUD in the front seating area. The FA's cut them off with drinks, but must have forgotten that there were bottles of wine up there that they then finished off. FA's gave them many warnings (too many IMO) and eventually told them to go back to their seats after I got upset with the noise. I won't sit there again.

I plan to fly on QF 28 (SCL to SYD) departing on 30 April 2026, this flight will be on Boeing 787. I have already selected seat 49A. I assume the Antarctic sea ice will be visible in the horizon (looking south instead of looking down).
I know seat 49A is misaligned, but will it actually hinder the viewing? Will the wing flex also obstruct my view?

QF used to fly from EZE on a 744 and a few years ago I was very lucky to score an old F class seat in the nose on a J tix. Four windows with views of ice and then Antartica in the distance! With four engines, they used to fly pretty much the GC route - adjusted for a bit of weather.
AFAIK, the 787s don’t fly nearly as far south due to ETOPS…😔

Having flown SYD-SCL (return) in an 789, albeit in J, your biggest issue will be the awful electronic window shades being locked by the crew. Otherwise, the seat itself looks like its in a reasonable position to see stuff if not cloudy.

A380 J ?
I have a QF 2 LHR-SIN (A380) coming up and I am in 19K, but see that 11A is open. Generally I avoid overnight flights close to galleys and I know the lounge area in in front of 11A. However some say you get a bit more room and I am taller than average. Worth moving and taking the risk on noise?

. Some annoying crew will unfasten the curtains for their convenience at times but just get back up and refasten. If it keeps happening ask to see cabin manager to put a stop to it. There is definitely much more room and space in that seat with a larger footwell making sleep very comfortable. The forward smaller J cabin is usually reserved for senior tier QF FF as well as being a much more intimate cabin than what is known as the 'dormitory' rear, larger J cabin. The seat is closer to the window with dividing wall between you and isle as well as having a convenient storage draw in the bulkhead, Enjoy.

Does someone know how the seat selection works on QF when you have booked a ticket by another airline? When I log in with my booking reference then I can select between:
- No preferences
- Aisle
- Window

If there are fewer free / unblocked seats visible then you won’t get a seat map, just Aisle/Window. This is quite common with J on 737s - where the front row is blocked until T-80 and only QF CL/P1 get access prior. Row 2/3 ought to be visible to OWE (if there enough seats). No/low status PAX can only access Row 3 prior to T-80.
ExpertFlyer should give you an idea of how many blocked and occupied seats there are.

How many PAX on the booking? What aircraft type? What cabin?

Anyway, apart from a possible delay and presenting a seat map (mentioned above), not seeing a seat map for a single PAX usually means that all seats usually available for QF WP/OWE are occupied BUT the front row is potentially availability from T-80.
Its quite possible the flight is very full given a lot of Aussies have had to rebook (have been rebooked) to bypass the ME.

I see 16A and 16K open on A380 SYD-LAX, with Extra Legroom designation on Seat Selection screen. Anything wrong with these seats?
