Comparative Review of Five Different Star Alliance Lounges at Heathrow T2

United Club Hours 5:00 a.m. 10:00 p.m. daily (as of October 2023) (standard UC access policies0
Global First Class GS / VIP lounge (newly open May 2022) (GS and at time 1K Polaris customers -- based on space)

Arrival Lounge Hours 6:00 a.m. 2:00 p.m. (open as of June 13, 2022)
The arrivals lounge at London Heathrow, located immediately after immigration and customs, is a shared space with shower suites, breakfast items and more. This lounge is exclusively available for United Polaris business class travelers.
Eligible travelers must be flying on a same-day ticket arriving before noon and cannot bring guests. Additionally, United Club memberships and one-time passes dont grant access to this lounge.

Although the requirement is to enter before 12PM for arrivals, there have been reports of entry up until 1:30PM.

After 10+ years as a GS or 1K, on Feb 1 I drop to Platinum (LHR based, avoided US travel as much as possible in 2025).

I went to the VIP section for my last trip as 1K today. Back in two weeks when Ill be PP - is it now just totally open for those who know?

It's my go to, even when I was a GS or 1k.

Dropping to the same after the same being a past GS or 1k. I try to go to the USA as often as I can, but just reducing travel now.

The SG loungs is my go to.

I think if you ask nicely, you will probably be allowed back there. Not sure there are any hard and fast rules for access anymore.
"I just missed requalifying for 1k, but I really like the back area of the lounge. Is it OK if I use that side again?"

The person ahead of me checking into the lounge was directed to the main Club today. He was GS and asked if the GS lounge was closed. The gentleman checking him in said its not a GS lounge anymore, its an overflow lounge now. Pax asked if he could use it anyway and was granted permission. I was directed to the Club side but asked for the old GS side and he had no issues with me using it. It was quiet at 9:45am.

Neither of us were thanked for being GS

The clock is back. I searched up thread and couldnt find that reported anywhere.

Is the UC the best option for Star Alliance Gold members at LHR?

TPG says these are the best LHR lounges, though doesn't rank them.

There is a lot of discussion about this in this thread - if you do a search you will find those. Responses are variable but in general there is no bad option at LHR; the various lounges have pros and cons, so it will be down to your taste and preferences (and also whether departing from A or B gates).

Given your current GS status -- you are still surprised??? After a single FA forgot to ignore you?
