really nice and they have to work these flights JL745/746 to RJAA JL77/78 to RJTT from RPLL. I wonder if they can do JL60/69 RJBB-KLAX? Then here's the problem from RPLL-RJBB they need to book PR/5J/ Air Asia Philippines.

The Asian crew bases basically work in a way, where they fly to Tokyo, does some weeks of flying various routes to and from Tokyo, and then return to their home base for a break, and then resume flying again.

So they could be on LAX flights, but would return to their ultimate home base working on the JAL network, not flying on other carriers.

I haven't flown JL in a very long time, and chanced upon this post. Actually very much surprised that they have foreign crew bases, and allow them to fly beyond the routes serving their home base.

Is this JL's proactive solution to their aging population? Will they one day have a multinational crew on each flight, just like CX was in their glory days (pre-handover)?

Flown 4 segments on NH in the past 3 months, and 3 of them were longhaul. Did not notice any foreign crew. Does NH have foreign crew as much as JL?

ANA used to have a London crew base same as JAL, but I have not flown ANA to London in more than 10 years, so I don't know the status of it. I have not noticed foreign base crew members on ANA on other routes, but I don't fly ANA as much as I do JAL, so I may just not notice or not have had them serve my section.

Not sure about as much and/or whether they operate longhaul as well, but I do know NH often has some BKK crew at least on BKK-TYO. That route is often operated by Air Japan, so I wonder if the BKK crew are also Air Japan crew and thus not going to operate TPAC flights, etc.

Air Japan may very well use foreign based crews, as they are a lower cost capacity provider for ANA. They also operate the LCC arm and flight attendants are apparently overlapping between mainline operations and LCC operations.

JAL LHR Base will be fading away like FRA Base. They will be replaced by Asian Based Cabin Crew.

I don't think so. They are busy training them for the A350, and new faces are joining.

Not to mention they signed sponsorship deal with Liverpool FC and having JAL branded hospitality lounge at Anfield too. I wont be surprise if this does not come cheap while trying gain some foothold in London market.

I remember spoken to one LHR crew onboard and most of them were senior (the one I spoke to worked for 10 years and counting), really respect them to be able to stick onto one company while having to deal with quirks of how Japanese company was operated

Flew JL44 last Thursday in PY.
Unfortunately, and IMHO, the London crew are still a way aways from the level of service from the Tokyo crew.
Eye contact, pleasantries, attention to detail (collecting finished items/rubbish), spatial awareness (around the galley area), and cleanliness of the toilets are not there yet.

London base crews

Are London base crews still working on JL43/44 after the ship has been changed to A350-1000?
Last year I was aboard on JL43/44 and talked with 4 of them. They say there only about 20 crews there and company is not thinking hiring new members.

And also another person says they are still working onboard.

So thats why Im asking you if they are working or not. If you dont know it, then you cannot answer it. Only those who have flown with JL43/44 in this few months know the truth and can answer my question.

They are indeed still around and have been trained for the A350-1000 instead of the 77W. I have flown with some of them quite a few times, and always have a chat with them when I have a chance.

Thank you for your reply. I flew on JL44 and heard from London base crew that the company no more hire new crews and they even said the company is waiting for their retirement. They said 10 years ago we had as many as 300 crews, but the company changed their mind and shift to Asian crews.
But according to your comment, the company changed their mind again in this one year and keep London base??
