So how DO I change my cancelled booking on MMB ?

Here in New York, finally got the message that the return flight this evening is cancelled, told to go to MMB.

However when I get there and get the details of my flight up, the option "Change date/time of my flight" has an X against it and says "Not available". So how do I select the next available flight ? Am I looking in the wrong place ?

Many thanks for any replies.

If you have a non flexible ticket or there's an IT glitch then you just have to call BA and ask them to change it.

Easier said than done. Typical go away excuse from the airline. Options are to hold on the phone for ages if they dont cut you off first. Otherwise, try the ticketing agent at the airport.

Be prepared for a long stay in New York. Otherwise, you could for an Iberia flight to Madrid and risk making your own way to London.

Happened to me. We are stranded in USA and my MMB was greyed out after flight was cancelled. Couldnt get through to BA and so i rebooked and bought another ticket. So far i am 1000 each out of pocket.

I called BA again to at least cancel my original flight and got through within 2 mins .

Ba told me that as i have rebooked and not done it via the old booking i have to talk to my insurance co regarding reimbursement.

I had a non-flexible ticket, but once I had the email advising me that the flight had been cancelled and went into MMB, there was a message at the top of the screen - I clicked through and it was very easy to change either all or some of the legs of my trip. This was only available after the notification, though - the flight had been showing as cancelled for a few hours before that, and I couldn't change it at that stage.

I'm not sure about NY but in the UK people are being asked not to go to the airport.

Certainly at LGW and LHR there are limited personnel with the appropriate ticketing experience - probably about 25-30 at LHR and about 10 at LGW. But as well as the main reservation offices, there are also volunteers working at the Disruption Centre to help as many as possible.

Perhaps a little unfair to suggest people are being cut off. Yes, I know it can happen but there are also a good number of reports from people who've been answered within 5 minutes.

My flight was canceled at least 8 hours before i got through to BA (time difference etc). I still have not received an email saying its canceled.

In no way do i think BA is at fault by the way.

It took a couple of hours between the flight being cancelled (as visible on departures) and MMB letting me do something...

Will award travelers get bumped when service resumes?

I'm booked for a flight in CW on Saturday the 24th. Assuming flights resume soon, but the flights are all overbooked with many stand-by passengers, will BA bump award passengers for passengers with paid tickets that were delayed? I'm on a ticket as part of one of the BA business opp. programs, but my status is with *A, not OW. Is it worth buying a seat assignment in advance (I've noticed the available seats filling up quickly)?

FWIW, I'm on an award booking Friday 23 April from LHR to ORD (it's a MFU from WTP to Club). I called BA today to see if they'd let me cancel, to free up the seat for other passengers trying to rebook.

I was told as the ticket was non-refundable, I'd lose out.

So I'm just going to wait. If I fly, I fly. If the flights cancelled, I'll take the money back.

Shame for BA really, because I'd happily free up the seat for someone of greater need.

dylanks - highly unlikely. But I would recommend using OLCI before you get to the airport. In any situation where passengers are involuntarily offloaded, it's almost always those who check in last.

I am surprised by the feedback but I suppose management has made any policies on this as yet. The first challenge for BA is to repatriate all pax to their home destinations without disrupting booked pax who want to travel. I wonder if the arrangements BA has with certain charter companies may kick in to repatriate these pax. The number of pax stranded in New York and HKG must be sufficient to justify additional flights from these locations.

There is no difference between award tickets and paid tickets in terms of bumping. Elite status counts more. OCLI is the best way to secure a seat subject to airspace being re-opened.

Historically those confirmed on a flight have been OK - standby pax have been just that.

AA have managed to re-book my son, who was due to fly to Texas tommorrow from Aberdeen, on my points, on a BA flight-and AA flight next Saturday, though that was the magical Explat Line, so it is possible to get award flights. (I'm just hoping that the Belching Volcano, decides to give it a rest by next weekend)

Cheers Larry.

I would have thought that the fact that it's an award ticket shouldn't really make any difference.

Yes, other people will have "bought" their tickets, but so did you at some point along the way, & that's how BA have rewarded you with your award ticket for being loyal. To be bumped wouldn't really be a good way to treat loyal customers IMHO.
