At around the end of last year, I became curious to see if I could get some base visit to be able to see them take-off this year. I may get some video feed of the take-offs but that's probably about as close as I'll get to that this year.
So I guess some SAS passengers have Tegnell to thank for SAS continuing to provide the poor person's version of a business class flatbed for no additional charge on SAS TATL flights.

About the schedule for the Christmas tree formation flights, it's quite amazing looking at how fast it takes to fly on the planes between the mentioned localities, especially when you're used to seeing the time it takes to drive or take the trains to get between the same mentioned localities.
People paid for that instead of bringing their own sleeping sack of the sort that they took to the hostels/cabins around Scandinavia where many people don't want to pay for the rental sheet service?
Back in my days as a kid, it was the norm that on long-haul flights that the floor in front of the seats would become the hard bed with blankets as a mattress .... at no additional charge. Even in business and first class at times.

Got two rounds of sightings down here on the Swedish side of CPH.
I wonder if the Skane winemakers loved the effect these rounds had on scaring the remaining geese and some other birds.
The JAS were super loud this hour, and they sounded louder around where I was this year than was the case at this time last year in central Malmo.

No pic from the Hercules.... nearly missed them as they flew different route than expected. Just saw them passing by in the last few seconds. Crossed Helsingborg from NW to SE and did not the usual N-S over Drottninggatan. Therefore view was obstructed by the buildings. Quite a ew people were really disappointed.

I was so freaked out last year when it was over my house in Skane. It was so loud that I felt uncomfortable from it - I tried to cover my ears and got my head down. Certainly something I wouldn't miss.

Och, really com'on? I grew up in mid-west Germany, having a RAF base in the next bigger city and those Tornados, Galaxies and later Globemasters were a normal sight (and sound) almost any day. Maybe that made me a bit less sensitive to it but certainly I was very surprised that the Grippens were not even close to those Tornados training their ground bombing runs I found them to be not more noisy than a regular commercial jet on approach to an airport. The only significant difference (and for me fun part) is the delay in "boooooom" which comes much later on those jets compared to the turbofans of the commercial airliners

Well, one can debate the idea why the population (90+% of which have no clue that such an excercise is coming) has to have fighter jets flying over their heads for xmas...
At LLA we often saw the local fighter jets take off from the shared runway... the noise can be scary to the uninitiated...! Once at DTW I saw the USAF practice escorting commercial jets to the landing, or atleast I assumed it was pratcice.

I know what I heard was louder from these flights near Malmo this year than what I heard last year. There are a few reasons for my observation of higher dB on the ground. Whether or not the noise is harmful is a whole discussion to itself, but I'm told that noise pollution does have a health impact.
I spent a decent bit of my life living pretty close to a fire station in NYC and spent a lot of time staying close enough to LGA to hear a lot of flights coming down or taking off around there. What I heard yesterday afternoon around Malmo was way louder than any flight thing I heard around LGA and DCA ever. Actually what I heard yesterday was way louder than what I would commonly hear from the USAF fighters flying around the UAE or from the IAF fighters around SXR.
At times the USAF has been practicing escorting commercial jets to groundings or how to "neutralize" the commercial planes if the planes are non-cooperative. Can we say "shoot down"?
Maybe the Swedish air force pilots and planners wanted to make a greater show of force(d air) around parts of Malmo just to show that there are no no-go areas in Malmo.

After the loud Christmas tree flights, Sweden's skies and grounds have gone quiet so the whole country can have its airwaves dominated by the Donald that has neither been fired nor retired despite being an old quack: Donald Duck.

I'm currently looking at tickets for a trip to Japan in February. (I know that can't be booked that far out yet, I was just checking the shedule for November to see what works for me).
Something like ZRH-CPH-HND-CTS KIX-HND-CPH-ZRH.
While the normal ZRH-CPH-HND works fine on nearly all dates I noticed that the NH operated feeders all book themselves in to Economy, despite the ticket being in Business Class. Now if I remember correctly that might be because domestic Business class is declared as First on NH. Is there a way to force the booking to put these segments in to Domestic First on NH without a huge reprice?
