About 8-10 times via optiontown.
I think I'll survive, Y isn't so bad Was just a bit frustrated last night when posting. I actually am very pleased with my success rate having used Uto in the past, and pleased with SAS's C product. I have another TATL trip coming up in December which I have signed up with optiontown for.
That's always kind of gambling with Optiontown Don't be too disappointed - at least you didn't loose anything (except small transaction fee) so it's very safe gambling. On average during several years I have had Optiontown upgrades about two thirds of flights when I had asked for them. I still see this as very good result! Most gamblers in Las Vegas would be excited to play with no losses and significantly more than 50% wins

Got a strange approval of upgrade mail (from M to Y) this night for todays OSL-EWR flight:
Upgrade approved subject to availability. Please check status with SAS staff at Oslo airport
Anyone got this before? What is the point of paying for an upgrade which isn't 100% approved? Not looking forward explaining and arguing with the checkin staff

Hi.
Are there anybody who paid for upgrade from M to Z on CPH-PVG. Currently, optiontown says 336 euro ex. sign-up fee on my travel date.
I have before tried upgrades on CPH-PEK and CPH-NRT, the prices are usually 285 euro ex. sign-up fee.
336 euro is the standard price for CPH-PVG, or it is because of the dates I flies on?
Thanks for your help!

I could start a new thread about Optiontown. I could post first, and explain how it works based on our experience. I could update the post with prices for each route, how to read expertflyer/KVS statistics. And you guys can come with input, and I can then change the first post based on your inputs....
Please tell me what you think about the idea. A moderator should also say if it is okey or not.....

I was upgraded from M to Y on IAD-CPH during easter in 2011 by Optiontown. I paid 145, and the price for upgrade from M to Z was not definitely 390 euros... I know that it is not a general price hike, as a friend of mine just has paid 285 euros for a upgrade between CPH-NRT.

I've tried Optiontown 3 times (from eco), 2 times I've been upgraded to business and the 3rd I wasn't upgraded. I only selected business when I registererd on OT.
Both times I were upgraded eco was full.

Optiontown uses an algorithm for price calculation
Optiontown uses an algorithm that is a secret. I've used OT 15 times (to and from ORD and IAD) and been upgraded 11.
Here are some observations:
Things I'm not so sure of:
Here are some observations:
- If you've used them before, then prices might be higher (my daughter got a cheaper offer for the exact same flights - and we both got upgrqaded).
- They send email with lower offer if there is room in economy, i.e. low chance of getting upgraded. I've received 2 discount offers that didn't give upgrades.
- Prices get more expensive if there is a better chance of economy selling out.
Things I'm not so sure of:
- Prices rise if you repeatedly look at the same flight over a short period of time.
- The person that pays a higher price has priority .
