Barrons and Forbes

I haven't checked my account in a while and noticed they no longer have Barrons and Forbes subscriptions. Any chance of them coming back by the end of the month? Have you all been offered 1 year expiration extensions like in the past?

honu Oct 22, 2012 2:09 pm

For the past 20 hours or so I've been getting a warning that the certificate has expired. Has the web site been taken over by hackers or is it really an expired certificate?

blueeagle3 Oct 22, 2012 2:52 pm

How are you guys doing this? I did not accumulate more than $ 10 during the last 4 Months..Most of the Surveys it says "already expired"...

I'm not quick enough!

So do I...but even if I get the email and IMMEDIATELY try to take it I get a message that it is expired. I am always completely honest and usually I can earn $25 per month. And I usually cash it in as soon as I get $25!!!

I guess you have to check your email more often. Most of the more lucrative surveys (~$7-10) expire rather quickly.

blueeagle3 Oct 25, 2012 7:33 am

I do check them as often as possible...But on 15 Surveys i just got $ 5 out of this...Makes all in not more than the mentioned $ 10....Not really good :(

You can try contacting their customer support if the expiration issue is an ongoing problem. This happened to me in August for no reason, as I posted a few pages back. They got back to me after a couple weeks and said it was probably because I was travelling or connecting from a VPN (I wasn't doing either at the time, although I had travelled out of the country in July. ) Yet somehow after they responded the problem magically corrected itself and I was able to take the surveys again. I don't know if it was pure coincidence or if they adjusted something in my account settings.

As a comparison, in August I was able to complete just one survey. In Sep and Oct so far I accumulated about $70.

Wait time between sponsors?

I changed my e-rewards email last week and now just cancelled my membership because I have not received a survey in over a year even after updating my profile a number of times and Delta(my original sponsor) no longer shows up as a reward choice. I received an invite from WN and would like to sign up again. Is there a recommended wait time to apply for the WN account as I just canceled today?

Not necessary to wait. *first hand experience

neuromancer Oct 26, 2012 7:38 am

About expired surveys - first, if you are out of your home country, all the surveys will be expired from the start, you have to use a VPN/proxy to complete them.
Second, I've noticed that ALL the surveys, hosted at www.optimusid.com have expired to me, regardless of my whereabouts. Don't know why is that. If we don't count this, it still happens, but quite rarely, so normal in my opinion.

I just go an invitation from Ticketmaster to join e-rewards due to being a valued customer. Habnt used Ticketmaster in probably 10 yrs.

Sorry if this has been covered before, but i'm struggling to search this thread effectively

I dont have United as a redeemable option for my e-Reward points/currency. I believe this is because the original partner I was referred by did not have United as one of their partners. In any case, what I'm after is an idea of the redemption rate from e-Rewards points/currency into United miles. Ie how much e-Rewards $$$ does it take to get 2k UA miles? Is 2k the max for redeeming on UA?

Thanks

KathinJax Nov 5, 2012 10:22 am

You would get 2,000 United miles with $100 in e-rewards.

Thank you

Is 2000 the maximum redemption?

Yes, it is the maximum and it looks like you can only do one redemption every 30 days. The other levels are $25 = 500 miles, $50 = 1,000 miles.

Redemption of MileagePlus miles, through e-Rewards, is limited to one (1) redemption per 30-day period, per MileagePlus account and/or e-Rewards member account.

Anyone else receive an invitation to install the E-Rewards Notify program? I thought I'd give it a whirl and installed it. It runs in the background, and apparently does a pop-up when a new survey is available. Hopefully that'll avoid the annoying instances where you get an email, click the link, and receive a message that the survey has expired.

flood Nov 6, 2012 2:19 am

@KathinJax: Thanks! That's what I was after

@MeLike2Travel: I've not had an invitation to install the notify program, but I often get the survey expired messages. Sometimes when I've got my inbox open I see an email arrive with an invitation for a survey and click on it straight away and it has already expired. Have contacted their support who were utterly clueless. Any ideas what causes this? Is it perhaps a dead link that they erroneously send out?

I did get this. I do notice some lag time between when I get an email alert and when the notification pops up.

Sometimes I get a notification about the same survey after I've done it because I checked my email earlier.

That's a bad exchange rate

I see this too. Lame! Anyway. I am debating getting CC, PC or waiting 2 months to get more hertz points. Any thoughts, I have $100. I want more hertz points but I get impatient when it come to redemptions. I think I can gain more money in two months. I have been averaging about 1 to 2 surveys per day. I have no pressing need for any points outside of hertz would just be top offs.

Concur. And frustrating.

Is this an e-Rewards decision or an HHonors one? Any supposition? This is the sort of thing that made me give up on MyPoints.

amanuensis Nov 9, 2012 12:16 pm

I am still seeing the old pricing -- 7,000 HH points for $100.

tearex Nov 11, 2012 2:57 pm

Heads up for those of you that use Dropbox and e-Rewards Notify.

I noticed that my Dropbox sync stopped working recently and have been trying to figure out why. It gives an error stating that my computer's date and time are wrong, even though it's correct and has been synced to several different NTP servers.

I've tried uninstalling Dropbox and reinstalling it. None of my other computers have sync issues.

It turns out that e-Rewards Notify has been messing with the SSL connection Dropbox uses to sync. After uninstalling it, Dropbox worked again perfectly.

I redeemed $60 e-rewards for 500 Hertz points back in early August (was hoping for a Labor Day free rental - how naive!). Three months later I still don't have it. Half away through the waiting period (around mid September) I've contacted e-rewards about the issue, got a reply that they are "looking into this" and would let me know as soon as possible about the the problem. It's been 3 months since the redemption and I have no hopes of ever getting those Hertz points. All other redemptions always worked for me - from a near instant posting for Hilton Honors to the longest for La Quinta.

To add, the only reason I used e-rewards in the first place that is it seems to be the only option in getting Hertz points without actual rentals, i.e. through a points/portal transfer.

That's terrible. Mine took a little over a week.

nookanaya Nov 13, 2012 8:09 pm

Bummer, yeah I had a Hertz redemption post to my account in 4-5 days recently.

I'm guessing e-rewards customer service doesn't exactly consider participants to be their customers. I've asked them several times about switching airline programs on my account. I expected them to say "no", but they managed to fly under those expectations by simply not replying.

Me too. Not only that, after I finally hit the $125 threshold this week and redeemed the 7k award, no transfer occurred. In my experience e-rewards transfers to HHonors have always been instantaneous. This time, nothing. I will give it a few days before I contact "customer service," but between this and the diluted Hilton redemption rate, e-rewards is scarcely worth doing anymore.

This afternoon, I participated in an interactive 90-minute on-line focus group through e-rewards (the subject was advertising about the oil and gas industry). I am supposed to receive $35 in e-rewards credits for this session. Very interesting ..... I had not done anything similar on e-rewards. Anybody else do this?

I did not do this, however the most lucrative erewards survey I've done: last week I was invited to participate in a father-son survey. Take a short 5 minute video and both father and son complete 8 short questions after and I receive $75 in erewards currency and my dad receives a $75 prepaid visa!!! (Which I get to keep;))

EmilNomel Nov 15, 2012 9:35 pm

Sounds like some innovative offers lately! Yesterday I was offered $25 gc to physically go to an Ulta cosmetics store, look at two cosmetics brands' displays and report back via survey. I had to email a photo I took while there in order to get the survey.

I easily completed the process (spending too much money on makeup along the way) and qualified or the $25 in the mail. I'm assuming it will be a visa/Amex/mc gc.

e-Rewards Devaluation

As late as last April, the best redemption on e-Rewards was 100 points for 7K Hilton Honors points. Now, and without any warning, this award was devalued to 125 e-rewards points for 7K HH points.

Is there any better redemption on e-Rewards?

I was really looking forward to bump my HH balance to over 150K points :(

:td: I'm close to $100 for 7k HHonors. Oh well.

pgary Nov 18, 2012 4:16 pm

I like 4,000 Priority Club points for $100, mainly because of the huge availability of Holiday Inn and Holiday Inn Express properties throughout the world. I find availability (and free breakfasts) to be more important that luxury.

JerryFF Nov 18, 2012 4:44 pm

OMG, I'm at $95.65 and was just about to cash in for HHonors for about the 4th time. :td::td:

So now 4500 points for $75 is actually a better deal than 7000 points for $125.

amanuensis Nov 18, 2012 7:54 pm

I just checked again and as before, I am still at 7000 for $100.

There are plenty of as-good or better redemptions.

2000 Rapid Rewards points have a fixed value of just under $34.

Most other airlines will give you 2000 miles which, conservatively, would be valued at $30. Easily much more.

If you want to go through all the hoops, 3000 Iberia Avios would easily be worth $60 toward short haul US trips.

I believe they are doing a roll out of changing the benefit level batch by batch probably depends on anniversary date of the account.

When in Sept my husband's account was still seeing the 7K for $100 offer but since his last redemption was mid July, he could not redeem again until after Mid Oct. Well, we were on a long trip to Europe and 2 cruises since end of Sept till beginning of Nov. When I checked in Nov, his redemption option has changed to the current level.

So if you want HHonor points, redeem as quickly as you can for eventually your account will see the devaluation too.
