Recent Continental Experience

I submitted my most recent Continental redemption on 5/31 and it posted on 6/7 (a Tuesday, though perhaps a coincidence).

Mary2e Jun 14, 2011 9:59 am

I redeemed for Hertz points on 5/31, and while the website says 6-8 weeks to post, my experience with other redemptions is that it is usually very fast.

I still don't see anything in my Hertz account.

Anyone else redeem and have the poinst yet?

Blockbuster no longer available after June 30, 2011

Not sure most folks here have much interest in this, but the Blockbuster awards will no longer be available after June 30, 2011

Important update about your Rewards
Effective June 30, 2011, BLOCKBUSTER(R) will no longer provide Rewards to Members of the e-Rewards Opinion Panel. If you are planning on redeeming for a Reward from BLOCKBUSTER, please do so no later than 11:59pm (CST) on June 29, 2011.

Yes, whopping $.25! That's borderline fraud, IMHO. Do they really need to ask a LOT of personal questions and waste good 10 minutes of my time in order to find out I'm ineligible? Give me a break!

I also believe that with all this penny-pinching silliness their service is totally useless to their corporate clients, since the respondents will just lie in their answers trying to guess which answer will NOT get them disqualified.

Non-US IP addresses get this. Use a proxy, there are many free proxy services out there.

spent 10 minutes on one for $8.50 to be told they didn't need me, and just got denied from the get-go on one for $15.00. really irritating.

Wasted effort

Recently I got e mails for surveys, but after I answered 3 pages of questions was told i did not qualify and received a measly 25 cents.
Is it the state of residence ol my age that gets me kicked off?

linsj Jun 25, 2011 6:50 pm

My account no longer shows the amount that expires at the end of my annual year. Is this new or a temporary mistake? (I've been a member for 11 years.)

Same for me-just says "available to redeem"

Same here and my membership ends June 30th. I just sent an email to Member Services. I will report back once I receive a reply.
Here it is: "You were selected as a member of our Preferred Research Panel based on your participation in the e-Rewards program during the preceding year. As a result, we waived our usual currency expiration rules for you and the e-Rewards currency that you earned as of June 30th was rolled over into this membership year.
We'll review your program participation and profile on your anniversary date June 30th and let you know if you re-qualify for Preferred Research Panel membership. If you re-qualify, your status as a member of the Preferred Research Panel may be extended for another year and the expiration date for e-Rewards currency you have earned would be extended for an additional membership year. Should you not re-qualify, your e-Rewards currency will be subject to expire on August 1, 2011.

Another survey wasted good 10 minutes of my time before advising me they've had enough participants. I'm getting to $100 (close to $80 now) and canceling the damn thing. This is just beyond ridiculous.

It can be frustrating! Two days ago I had an $8 survey that went on and on about financial info - and I provided a lot of information before it finally said no go. I was pretty upset.

But then yesterday (as if to make up) I received a $12 survey I was able to finish (also financial) and it put me over my $100 mark.

So as frustrating as it gets, as long as I can still do two $100 redemption's a year (which is what I have been doing) I'm going to hang in there.

dorif Jul 1, 2011 11:50 am

I usually like E-Rewards. I just redeemed $100 for Choice Privileges, which I will redeem for WN RR points. This will be the second time I have done this. First time was in order to top up my WN account for a free reward flight.

Now if you were to ask me about Opinion Outpost, that is another story. i just cancelled my membership, as I never qualify, after spending way too much time answering questions, only to be told I am not a good candidate.

That is definitely the issue. I'm a bit of computer numpty but have googled ways round this. As this is the only time I have a problem with my IP address not being in the US (at least at the moment), I don't really want to download anything and it seems that proxify.com should solve the problem - except that when I put the e-rewards survey website address into proxify all I get is a bunch of numbers (ie I can't make it work). Does anyone know what I am doing wrong or have any other easy solution?

Email them and tell them exactly what happened. They need to get feedback to weed out survey companies that are apparently trying to get information for next to nothing.

Last year I spent 25 minutes answering detailed questions about a specific medication, only to reach the demographic questions at the very end where I was rejected with "sorry, we have enough responses from your group. Here's your .25 cents." I was spitting mad when I emailed E-rewards, and they not only credited me with the full amount, but said they would look into this survey company's practises.

Sometimes it pays to complain.

Points expiring , which redemption option is best value ?

Hi Folks,

I have 4000 opinion points in my e-rewards account..
Out of those, about 2000 are expiring July end and hence I want to redeem those..
I am a member of EK Skywards and Priority club points .
I can redeeem 2000 points for 200 skywards points or 3000 points for 1000 PC points..
Which is better value ?

Thanks
Abhi

I've now tried hidemyass.com where I get a "HTTP 404 Not Found" error. Does anyone else have any good ideas or do I give this up as a bad job? It's not worth paying anything for this as it's just e-rewards that is the problem....

You can search in google for "US free proxy"...
Here for example there is a list of proxies, choose one that works for you (lower half are free, CoDeeN does not work for me). Downside is that from time to time they disappear or get overloaded, so you have to search again. Don't know if it is worth the trouble.

I did that last time a similar thing happened, and they just responded with a canned email how they are trying to improve, etc.

foxberg, could you please provide some detail on how this promotion worked, and when it was last offered? Thanks.

Somewhat new to e-rewards, however I just spent a long time doing a survey, after the first 10 minutes it said I was approved to take the survey and qualified to take it and receive 8.50 for taking it. after finishing the survey (30 minutes) it said thank you and your acct. will be credited.. however it wasn't. Does this happen often with e-rewards?

It doesn't always credit immediately - they normally do, but some take a few days. It should show up.

Sometime last year PCR offered double points for partners activities. e-Rewards was one of them. You could redeem for PCR points and PCR would double it. Some say it was a targeted promo. It took a few months and few phone calls but I got it. So far I have around $1200 in ER money. Still waiting. If nothing else, this would buy me Platinum until the end of 2013 if I redeem next year (we are both Platinum until the end of 2012).

Flyingmama Jul 6, 2011 2:35 pm

A new wrinkle to add to the litany of e-rewards complaints....

Last Sunday I received an invitation to do a 15 minute consumer survey for $4.00. So I took the survey and finished it. The credit came right away, but it was only for $3.00! So I emailed e-rewards and asked them where the fourth dollar was. So far no response.

So from now on I am keeping closer watch on what is promised and what is actually delivered. I could have been shorted in the past and never known it.

philemer Jul 7, 2011 10:28 pm

I'm liking the Hertz option. For $60 in e-rewards you get 500 Hertz points which is good for any size car on a weekend. The fancy cars usually run over $75/day. Thoughts.

Mary2e Jul 8, 2011 7:26 am

I liked it too and redeemed for it on May 31. Unfortunately, no points have yet shown up in my Hertz account. The erewards email says it will take 6-8 weeks, so I'm holding off writing customer service.

Has anyone else tried to redeem? It's a fairly new option.

You are only allowed 1 redemption per calendar quarter. I think the only reward that has unlimited redemption option is Priority Club.

Mary2e Jul 8, 2011 8:26 am

it was my first Hertz redemption... ever. The email I have states that I will be receiving them. Normally, if the time has not passed to be able to redeem again, the system will not allow it.

As well, CO has monthly redemptions now.

neuromancer Jul 8, 2011 2:12 pm

I redeemed for PC points immediately after they started offering them and they did not post. I wrote customer service about 2 months after and they resolved the problem. So it may take some time for the things to work.

Kremmen Jul 11, 2011 10:46 am

Another survey wasted 10 mins of my time for 25 e-rewards cents. It asked about 20 questions, including a series about which retailers I've visited when looking for internal hard drives. Once it discovered which retailer I actually bought my hard drives from, it finally decided that I don't qualify. (I wonder what they have against newegg.com?)

It was titled "Study about Business Purchases", so you might want to give it a miss if you get that one.

Saas Jul 14, 2011 9:10 am

Looks like Hilton is no longer an option, but it's nice to see Hertz in there. The rental car is usually the only part of the trip I have to pay for :)

Mary2e Jul 14, 2011 9:17 am

Update...

I looked at my Hertz account earlier this week and the points finally posted.

fragment54 Jul 14, 2011 9:23 am

Dang I was saving up for Hilton. Oh well, makes my decision to redeem on Continental easy.

If you list rewards by category, they are still there. Also, still listed on Hilton web site.

And listed for me as well (tho for me, it's right on my main listing of awards)

fragment54 Jul 14, 2011 10:42 am

Wish airline miles came in tiered redemptions with increasing miles for higher dollar redemption.

Saas Jul 15, 2011 6:44 am

Hmmm...Hilton still not showing on mine, in either place. Strange.

It is not showing up on pull down list of companies for me on e-rewards, so I tried going through Hilton and clicking on the "exchange now" button. That just took me back to main menu for exchanges, which does not include Hilton.

Looks like it's still PC or CO for me...

Interesting. I have Hilton on the drop-down menus and on the main rewards page, after Hawaiian and before JC Penny. The Hilton selection goes to the Hilton partner page, which leads to the 4 specific rewards pages:
* $25
* $50
* $75
* $100
