Does anyone have a data point on whether AA transfers generate Loyalty Points as well as redeemable miles under the new AA system?

Anyone here who has received a 1099 in the past for earning over $600, can you tell me (1) did the 1099 come via email or snail mail, and (2) approximately when did you receive it, i.e. late January? Thanks.
FYI, I received an email request yesterday from Dynata to fill out the W-9 for TY 2021, as you probably did, but still waiting on the followup email with the link to electronically provide the information. |
I contacted the original company who have sent me 5 "we have escalated the issue" emails and then a week ago they confirmed I took the survey and would be paid by the end of the month. e-Rewards sent me 3-4 "we're working on it" emails but nothing for awhile - I still haven't got the credit but there are still a few days left in the month. In the mean time the number of surveys has dropped way down, the number of surveys I qualify for is way down, and instead of $500-600 a month I have have had about $100 a month since Christmas...

Has anyone ever had their e-rewards account hacked, and then someone used your points for gift cards? That just happened to me. Someone redeemed my points for macy $10, and $25 gift cards. But the gift cards went into my email account. Ive already written e-rewards about this and changed my password. Wasn't sure if anyone else has had this issue though.

Of all the accounts in the world someone would want to hack, gotta think e-rewards would be near the bottom of the list, for so many reasons...

I wonder has anyone seen "No Survey Available" on their dashboard?
Unlike many of you who do surveys frequently I usually only do one big session once 4 to 6 weeks when I can find an evening to give it a few hours. I usually just logged in my account and started the survey from the dashboard. The last occasion was in first week of January. Today when I logged in the dash board. after the site showed "loading" the Survey column, it shows this message instead - No surveys available. Complete your member profile to receive more studies. I checked my email address and noticed I had not received any survey invitation since late last year because nothing was found in trash (I deleted those invitations but they should stay in Trash folder for 30 days). So I went ahead to try to complete my profile - but the one single category of Personal I could not fully complete because one questions have answer options blocked, leaving only one default option which is WRONG answer, as in the following - Thinking about your experience with this survey panel, how much would you agree that you would like to receive more surveys than you do today? Please select one from below. Strongly disagree - this is the ONLY option that is already chosen - can NOT be unselected. All the other options are inactive, i.e. I cannot change any of them listed below. Slightly disagree Neither agree nor disagree Slightly agree Strongly agree I cannot take this answer as my option because it is the opposite of the current scenario that I do not have any survey available! So I filled out the online help form to ask them if there is a technical glitch on my account. PS I went back several pages of this thread and saw 2 or 3 posters have reported such issue. I do not have any other survey program other than MyPoints which I quit doing their survey after they stopped giving any pt on disqualification. That probably is more than 2 years ago! I only do the 5 pts click thru there. Now after a redemption of CVS eGC stopped working on 2nd usage, I am thinking about just close that account. CVS could not help as their credit/debit dept could not see the eGC status other than it is "Green" and the amount of balance. It cannot see transaction history nor whether the card is locked - the CVS rep claimed cards issued by reward programs are from different outfit and only the company that issues the reward could help me. |
I was able to redeem 2000 UA miles this morning, so the account is not suspended or deactivated. However when I tried to redeem 1000 AS miles the site wanted to send verification code to a cell phone number that was used only once over 2 years ago and was no longer a valid number. There is no other way to submit a new cell phone number for this purpose, not on the redemption process, not in My Details screen. So I initiated another message to ask HOW to add a cell phone number to the account.
I do not remember whether one can only make a single redemption per day, regardless different rewards. I know for many rewards it is one per 30 days. There is no information to be found on the site about the rules. Meanwhile, the Survey tab remains No Surveys Available. Hopefully someone at eRewards would eventually address this issue and fix it, like it happened in November. |
It’s two redemptions per day but they get aggressive about phone verification if you do multiple redemptions in a short time frame.I’m a very regular redeemer and I think I need to do the phone code about 80% of the time.
|
Well, my account is not in the US and I see the "no surveys available" a lot. It is completely possible there aren't any surveys. They have reduced the surveys quite a bit after the holidays, it seems.
If you can redeem, the account is not blocked. You can change the telephone number by writing to e-rewards, that is the only way. Did it once and worked. |

If you read back posts in Mid Oct, 2 or 3 persons reported the Survey not Available issues. One poster reported receiving a response from eReward after submitting a ticket, rather speedily in 5 days based on the poster's posts timeline. That eReward end has some technical issues which affect some members. They did some modification to the poster's account and then the surveys show up in drove. Hence I submitted a help ticket request and hope the issue would get looked at in coming days. |
Are you guys getting the question about What Is Your Biggest Problem With Technology These Days? I get this question, which requires a written answer, about every fifth survey. Very annoying!
|
I received my 1099-NEC yesterday and I was pleased with the way they valued my rewards. Gift cards are valued 1:1, i.e. at $25 each mostly. Hotel points and Magazines are valued at a very low dollar amount...about 1/15th of the true value (if you actually use the points) as far as I can tell.
|
yeah its gotten super annoying. them and milesforopinions have it right now.

Anyway I was hoping you or some of the other smart folks here might have been down this road before and could offer some advice :-) |
I've put my cash earnings from other survey panels down as hobby income in previous years and never had an issue with it. It's typically been $3K or less.
For those who got a 1099-NEC did e-Rewards let you know it was coming or did it just show up? Haven't heard anything from e-Rewards about me getting one and I'd like to go ahead and deal with taxes but I obviously can't do that if I'm short a form. |

Do you have past experience with this? I got my first 1099-NEC today for $775 for the gift cards I redeemed for last year. Entering the form on TurboTax opened a few cans of worms. The first was what kind of employee was I. Instead of the default there was one choice that said the income was from what I considered a hobby or something I did occasionally (but was warned that response would get more scrutiny - even though I feel that's the right category). If I took the default a Schedule C was opened, I had to name my business, etc etc etc - had to pay self employment tax ($120) and the full 15% SS (I did see part of that was refunded on the form). But then I caught that I now had $755 in "earned income" - something I haven't had since 2006 :-) That immediately made me wonder about putting that money in my traditional IRA which it said I could do - and that cut the increase in my taxes from $240 to about $50. When I went back and checked the "hobby" block my $240 in increased tax dropped to about $120 (eliminated the self employment tax and SS I assume) - BUT it didn't classify the $775 as "earned income" but instead listed it as "additional income." So no IRA option...
Anyway I was hoping you or some of the other smart folks here might have been down this road before and could offer some advice :-) If you are not an employee but the amount in box 1 is not selfemployment (SE) income (for example, it is income from a sporadic activity or a hobby), report the amount shown in box 1 on the “Other income” line (on Schedule 1 (Form 1040)). |

No anything after that until the 1099 showed up yesterday :-) |

Occasionally I get a real winner survey like the one I just did. It paid $56.50 (of e-rewards currency) for about 10 minutes of work.
|
ok. e-rewards is getting really weird. They won't allow me to do surveys or redeem for rewards. Ive already emailed them about the issue but no response and its been almost a week. If they stop my account its gonna be awkward since I have a bunch of equipment from them for a laundry study im doing. lol

Yeah, I got jammed up from them during a TP study I was doing for Ipsos. It took over one month for me to get reinstated, so I never was able to properly complete the study.
Typically what happens is that even though I can access my account, I have no surveys in the dashboard, and I stop receiving offers via email. In addition, when I try to redeem for an award, I get the dreaded "Error message QSB0303-17." In general, my experience after writing them has been that after waiting 7-10 days I receive an email with some boilerplate advice to clear the cache, try a different browser, etc etc. I write them back, politely tell them none of those things work, and there is something happening on their end. The next response usually comes several days later telling me that the problem has been resolved. |
So they have fixed my account which starts receiving invites. They also cleared the old cell number and gave instruction on how to link a valid one though I haven't done that part.
I attempted a few surveys on Feb 9th after the surveys resumed. Only able to finish 2 smallish one (4.50 and 2.50) and about 6 of 0.25. After being cheated by one with "further questions for incentive bonus" that did not return a bonus even finished the quite lengthy additional questions, I called it done. That was on Feb 9th. Today on Feb 13th, Sunday - every single survey I attempted - from the invite or on the website page, after a bunch screening questions the survey turned out being "this opportunity has expired" - Has anyone seen this type of scenario before? Would this self-corrected over time or another ticket is needed? really discouraging to continue doing this. PS Just tried spousal account - it behaves the same. Looks like it is eReward's system issue? happens on weekend? |

E-rewards can work in mysterious way. Try again later tonight or tomorrow and see if you still have problems. |
I tried redeeming for Hilton points. The e-rewards account is in my name and the Hilton account is in my wife's name (same last name). I think this worked successfully in the past but now it has not posted after one week. When I redeem for IHG points (for my own account - same full name) it takes a few seconds. Anyone else have any issues with this?

In a word: Yes. Might be that the surveys you're trying were holdovers from when the account was not responding. Or you may not be the right fit for the demographics that they're looking for on these particular surveys. Or who knows what else (although I can tell you it's not a weekend issue, as I've successfully answered surveys today and yesterday.)

My husband's account has the same issue of "this opportunity is expired". His account has not had any issue like mine - been getting invites / surveys on the site. Sometimes he has good luck of getting several eligible surveys on a single night, even though mostly in the $4 to $5 range. Yet his account is having the same "opportunity expired" issue. I have not tried a different browser or change to incognito window. Wonder that would make a difference.
Out of curiosity, when you get the "opportunity expired" message, does it also present you with a new survey? |

Doubtful that it would make a difference, but certainly can't hurt to try. You might also try downloading the e-rewards app and see if that has similar issues.
Out of curiosity, when you get the "opportunity expired" message, does it also present you with a new survey? Update - So today is Tuesday, a couple days after the initial "opportunity expired" symptom. I tried to take survey again. It worked flawlessly on husband's account both from Invite emails and on the site. He even earned the $15 promo (a targeted? offer that if you finished 3 surveys before Feb 20th, you earned $15 bonus). I then tried my own account. It started fine, working from both Invite and on the site. Was able to finish 2 surveys and a few "enough participants" (earn zero on those). Then the same "opportunity expired" symptom popped up. So I stopped. Hope the site will reset after hours have passed. |
