Can you do two e-rewards account redemptions to the same HH account getting round the 90 day rule?

ankomonkey Mar 3, 2016 2:34 am

I suspect the frequency of surveys being offered is based on how many surveys they get commissioned to work on and I'd be amazed if they didn't have rules on how many surveys you can take over a certain period. I've been a member for several years and, believe me, there are far more opportunities nowadays than any other time I've been a member. In the past I've gone a full week without a single opportunity. The "Find A Survey" button is also relatively new. There was also a long time when clicking on old survey links brought nothing if you'd taken that one linked opportunity. You could only start finding additional surveys when they introduced surveymyopinion links. Before everything came from e-rewards.com and every link was one survey only. These are the good times!!!

You could try, but if they suspect 2 accounts for the same person there's a good chance they'd close both accounts.

Accor and IHG are both unlimited redemptions.

I have also been a member for quite a few years and I've gotten more surveys in the past several months than I ever have.
Also, the survey values offered are for a much higher value than before.

Accor and IHG redemptions are awful value against HH redemptions. Will have to go Virgin in the interim periods so atleast I will get a third more when converting into HH that route.

Are you assuming 1 Accor point = 1 Hilton point = 1 IHG point?
The generally accepted valuation around Flyertalk is 1 HH=$0.004, 1 IHG=$0.007, 1 Accor =$0.022.

For a non-American member, HH is indeed good value among hotels:
- 8,000 e-rewards = 7,000 HH, or ~$3.5/1k e-rewards
- 10,000 e-rewards = 4,000 IHG, or ~$2.8/1k e-rewards
- 6,000 e-rewards = 1,000 Accor, or $3.67/1k e-rewards, but not redeemable on rates discounted >~25%

On e-rewards.com, cases can be made for each:
- $125 e-rewards = 7,000 HH, or ~$22.4/$100 e-rewards
- $100 e-rewards = 7,000 HH, or ~$28/$100 e-rewards, for HH referred and DL-grandfathered accounts
- $100 e-rewards = 4,000 IHG, or ~$28/$100 e-rewards
- $60 e-rewards = 1,000 Accor, or $36.7/$100 e-rewards, although not redeemable on rates discounted >~25%

Note that Accor was a more attractive proposal when it joined the program a few years ago and the euro was stronger, as their internal valuation remains 2k Accor = 40 euros; the exchange rate used by their non-eurozone hotels is nowadays updated much more frequently and fairly close to reality, whereas in the past there were some opportunities to be had in countries with rapidly devaluating currencies...

As it is easy to get more value out of a HH point (points & money mostly), possible out of IHG (pointsbreaks!), and impossible out of Accor (fixed ratio), I consider the values for those 3 major chains fairly comparable on e-rewards.com, as it should be, factoring in the respective restrictions and advantages.
Club Carlson redemptions are obviously terrible value, not having been adjusted post-devaluation; CC to me is showing all the signs of a rudderless program on its way out, no wonder the chain is up for sale.

Since I can't do the credit card status route (blah, blah, identity fraud case) I find the IHG points more valuable because they post as elite-qualifying. Made Platinum last year via surveys there and on sibling site e-miles.

Accor also apparently posts as elite-qualifying, so part of the question is whether redeeming with a given chain will let you 'level up' and get the extra bonus points on paid stays from that higher elite status. If it's looking like you'd finish at 60K points in a year for IHG, silly not to use e-Rewards for the last 15K to get to Spire for the 100% bonus multiplier.

Has anyone redeemed points to BA Avios in the last two weeks? It has been nine days since I done a redemption from my account and the points in my BAEC account have still not arrived. My last redemption took 7 days?

I redeemed 1000 Avios on March 7th. 12 days on, still waiting for them to show up in my BAEC account.

This transfer has been a slower than the last one.

Thanks for your quick reply, can you update us when they hit your account so I can estimate what date mine should be in.

Will do, but I suspect it's when BAEC are damned good and ready  i.e. there is no set time frame.

The official rule is 35 days but it's never taken that long.

Tilly71 Mar 19, 2016 1:12 pm

What's the longest time frame you have had to wait for a redemption to BAEC in the past?

I can't remember exactly... two to three weeks maybe.

At least twice I've had them not turn up within a month. Given time to contact customer service, a total of around 45 days.
