Not really. They could offer direct redemptions for miles and tie your SkyMiles number to your account, like eRewards does with Hilton.

Linens-n-Things?

Last I heard this company went belly up this summer?

Although $1000 would go quite far when everything is 75% off.

They're not belly up, just in Ch. 11. Ch. 7 would be "belly up." Sharper Image, on the other hand, is kaput.

Your second post, not your first one.

Actually, it contained no more or less information than the previous post did... I agree that it was germane both times. ;)

If you think that was "going off," wait until you read some of the other posts on FT, especially in OMNI. My earlier response doesn't even wiggle the needle of the Rude-o-meter in comparison.

Back on topic, MCR saw fit to send me an email today about their "new" Subway rewards, about 2 weeks after they came out... a bit late on the trigger, methinks. As for the value of the program, I can't really complain. As I've stated in earlier posts in this thread, the MCR program doesn't influence me in my decision to purchase Coke products... I treat it as a bonus for doing something I would (probably) already do. However, when Pepsi is cheaper, I buy Pepsi... MCR just isn't that big a draw to me, even back in the days when prizes had a better value. That said, I'm fairly happy with my participation in the program; I've gotten some nice rewards out of it for pretty much zero effort. Would I like it to be even better? Absolutely! But I have no cause for complaint even if things don't change.

I get it. Gotta be one of those "I have to have the last word" kinda posters. We will have to agree to disagree. You see it your way...I see it mine. When I talk about "going off" I mean the level of response given outstripping the original post. Hardly warranted. Sure you could have dropped a few F bombs and gotten personal. But to say..."oh it could have been a lot worse" does not negate it. Again..we'll just have to disagree. I got your opinion about the program...which is all I wanted in the first place. An informed opinion. Thank you.

Now go ahead...have the last word. I won't reply.

:mad::td:
Avis one free day mid-size car rental has jumped from 1393 to 2480 points...and I was just short. (Budget $25 off may have gone up slightly.

Still can't get resolution on the Visa $25 card "offered" that first night 6/30 when the coding was messed up. The "offer" still stands in my history of rewards, but I can't claim it. 5 emails and about as many phone calls later, still no resolution.

For about 1/2 of the Sprite codes entered, when I closed the Enter Codes window, my browser hung up, and I lost all "bonus offers". Refreshing will also kill those bonus offers.

3 "serious" rewards from my 7/19 post #2233 are back, but at MUCH higher point levels:
1820 from 975 points in July: GPX docking station
2080 from 1400 points in July: Celestron Powerseek 50mm telescope
2880 from 1463 points in July: Athalon Samsonite Expanding Trunk Organizer
--------------------------
On the positive note, there is now a 1GB Royal Caribbean foldout flashdrive for 750 points (Last year a Coke one with much less memory was 600 or 660.) There is also a Lexar 1GB JumpDrive for 1540 points. I also see a few more items (Hamilton Beach Toastation - combo toaster and toaster oven) in inventory, so browse by points...

The $ costs of 1GB driives have substantially decreased, yet Coke raises MCRP price.

Blockbuster changes

Even the Blockbuster RENT ONE GET ONE FREE movie passes have gone up from 48 MCR points to 70 MC points.

Might have something to do with restructure of Blockbuster pricing...

HOT NEW Titles = $4.99 instead of $3.99 but instead of 2-day rentals,
now ALL movies are 5 days.

Favorites are $1.99 to rent and alot of the regular older movies you might not have had a chance to view is as low as 99 cents to rent...

No more $10 or $25 Subway cards.

No DL Skymiles redemption codes coming anytime soon.... much of the really good stuff is in VERY LOW supply, so consider grabbing whatever you want NOW before it's gone and you end up regretting now getting it when you could have...

I wouldn't wait. You see it, reward yourself while you can or give the points and year end to US Marines Toys for Toys for the poor kids to get toys.

Hey, BB, I've just reached 280 points & sure enough, the $10 Subway is OOS :( ! However, $25 (& $2 :p) Subways are still available! Do U have 720 points ;) ? If so, grab one quick!

MCR points and slime pickin's rant

(rant on)

You can always grab up a stack of $25 Subway cards BUT after one or two times, wouldn't Subway anything get boring and tiresome?...

Did have Pizza thingys on here BUT who wants cardboard-tasting chain pizza?

Maybe they should put up some grocery and gasoline gift cards...

At least return the free 12-pack coke product coupon thingys BUT goofy people were grabbing those all up and selling them on eBay so they discointinued them... then too they only had a value up to $5.04
and went for 100 MCR points... if they return them they probably would put them up at 200 MCR popints -- and NOT worth the exchange rate.

so right now the only things worth bothering with are the Blockbuster Rent One DVD and get one Free for 70 MCR points each and the $25 subway Card for 720 MCR points.

All major goodies have gone bye-bye to out-of-stock mode already.

These "electronic" enter-your-points for a sweepstakes-chance are RIP-OFFS
and not worth the time of day. The points only go to cyber-trash-cans.

The MCR points School program stuff is pure JUNK that I wouldn't give to my trash can in the backyard.

Better to give up the MCR points to the annual US Marine Toys For tots program.

(rant off)

Has anyone else noticed that the $2 gift cards are actually the best value? 27.5 points/$1, vs. 28 pts/$1 for the $10 cards and 28.8 pts/$1 for the $25 cards.

Brendan Aug 10, 2008 12:38 pm

BB, Red Lobster and or Olive Garden gift cards are one & the same :) --both are owned by Darden Restaurants!

cepheid Aug 10, 2008 5:00 pm

BTW, for those who don't know, there is currently a game going on at Subway - Subway Scrabble, very similar to what McDonald's does with Monopoly. One of the instant-win prizes is 125 MCR points.

If anyone eats at Subway and doesn't want any of their online codes, please feel free to PM me! :D
