Thanks for the Subway heads up! I trust the rewards to get worse, not better, so mine has been redeemed.

I went back and tried to redeem the code for the Subway card and went to an entirely different screen. I was then able to complete the transaction and it said my card was on it's way. FYI...It shows the total to be $11.49 for the card but when you complete the checkout it has discounts showing the total to be $0. No shipping and handling fees of any kind.^

Far better than that (for anyone using Windows Vista) is the MCR Gadget via the Windows Live Gallery. It doesn't require installing the intrusive Yahoo widget software... it just sits on your sidebar and lets you plug in the codes in one quick button press whenever you want. You dont even need to log in after doing so the first time.

Unrelated to the above...

I'm still wonderng if anyone would be kind enough to post a synopsis of the MCR Points/DL Miles history, if anyone knows it offhand (e.g., the history throughou the promo of how many MCR points it took to get a DL mile and how the offer changed/devalued over time. Thanks.

Man-o-man.

I was looking over an old message thread for MCR program dating back to June 2006. I was blown away at the prizes and point requirements Coke offered then.

Playstation 2 (850 pts)
PSP (1500 pts)
24 coupons for free 12 packs (640 pts)

I know they have had tons of gift cards in the past to places like Best Buy.

WHAT HAPPENED????

Seriously, I am sitting on 3,200 points right now. Does anyone have any reason to believe it is worth me continuing to build my points in the hope new, decent prizes surface or is the program on its last legs and its time to just look at what is available, grab the best of what is there and move on? I would be more than willing to keep building if I thought better things were coming down the road. It galls me that the majority of prizes now are sweepstakes, coke merchandise and virtual furniture. BLAH!!!

What do you want people to tell you? The MCR program has either been so successful that Coke doesn't feel the need to try very hard, or it's been such a failure that they just don't want to put more money into it. Either way, the rewards have dwindled. It is what it is. Being all nostalgic for the past and "how it used to be" is rather useless.

More to the point, if anyone here works for MCR and has insider info, they've been pretty darn quiet for the last two years, so I doubt they'll spring forth with any huge revelation now.

You can replace "MCR" and "Coke" with the name of just about any forum under "Miles & Points". Better to work with the program we have than to worry about what used to be. Of course, if someone wants to try a "Save MCR" campaign, go for it.

I agree with your first option: from Coke's point of view, I would say the program has been wildly successful. If not, MCR would have ended long ago. Unfortunately, because of this success, the halcyon days of cheap rewards are long gone.

Well that was a rather snooty response. Talk about useless. The point of the post was not "let's walk down memory lane and get all warm & fuzzy about MCR"....the point was does anyone know if it will get any better. If not then I need to redeem now with the best case scenario. If there is any reason to believe new prizes might be forthcoming I'd like to know. For example, someone posted a while back that they got info that Coke was extending the program. I'd like to find out if its true. Is there anything wrong with that?

And deservedly so, to an (IMHO) childish and somewhat obnoxious post. ("Helloooooo??")

You waited a whopping 10.5 hours between your original post and your follow-up. Even by FT standards, that's just a tad impatient, don't you think?

The second part of my reply did address the intent of your question: as I stated earlier, if anyone had any insider information and hasn't come forth over the last two years and 2276 posts to answer this exact same question that has been repeatedly asked, why would they come forward now? If anyone really did have inside information, one would think that they would either have shared it quite some time ago or are not interested in sharing it at all.

I appreciate that you are curious and frustrated, but I think you'll find that we all are - nobody knows anything you don't, and if they do, they're clearly not talking. So, whatever you do will be exactly the same gamble that any of the rest of us take: redeem now for whatever you think is worth it, or wait and see. It's a gamble either way, but if anyone has the magic answer, they're very clearly not sharing it. I doubt goading them with "Helloooooo??" would suddenly spur them to answer...

Never will we see airmile redemption codes again per se as there is
suffuicient methods to get around any quantity limits MCR might place
on the item, and they are wise to it -- and they still are real pissed at those people who spoiled it for everyone when they sold the stuff on ebay -- and THAT's the chief reason they are ADAMANT for it NOT to return as a reward, and in the last run replaced it with a LIMITED AMOUNT of 12,000 mile CERTIFICATES.

Then, too WHAT GOOD does it do to worry about airline mileage at all
when these days it will take double and even triple the numbe of miles
PLUS $$$ in taxes and surcharges IF you can find an award seat or if
you're extremely lucky to find a PAIR of open award seats for WHERE
and WHEN you want to go on a trip.

Now the Hotel Programs are starting to pull-in their horns and change
the game. BOOK NOW. Get whatever "good rewards" you can get BEFORE
year-end. Don't wait albeit program will end at the bottom of January 09
but WHAT will be left then? NOT MUCH.

Of course there'll be Toys for Tots prgram again this year, if you
feel in the generous mood then and there's nothing much left except
toys and coke advertising junk.

Remember, you heard it here first, so don't ..... when it happens.

What part of my post was obnoxious and childish? I asked some straightforward questions seeking information and all I got was "you been had." My response was more as a result of that than anything else. Sorry you took it so personally since you are the only one to seem to have an issue here. When people get "ticked" because they think they know what someone is doing without clarification I can understand not wanting to respond. But to respond with the way you did is in itself childish IMO. I guess we both have opinions then don't we.

At least your last post had some germane information. I am a member of a ton of message boards and rarely have I seen a reaction to such a benign post. You might want to look at the context as well as the content before you go off on someone. Thanks for the info--I'll keep it in mind.

Your second post, not your first one.

Actually, it contained no more or less information than the previous post did... I agree that it was germane both times. ;)

If you think that was "going off," wait until you read some of the other posts on FT, especially in OMNI. My earlier response doesn't even wiggle the needle of the Rude-o-meter in comparison.

Back on topic, MCR saw fit to send me an email today about their "new" Subway rewards, about 2 weeks after they came out... a bit late on the trigger, methinks. As for the value of the program, I can't really complain. As I've stated in earlier posts in this thread, the MCR program doesn't influence me in my decision to purchase Coke products... I treat it as a bonus for doing something I would (probably) already do. However, when Pepsi is cheaper, I buy Pepsi... MCR just isn't that big a draw to me, even back in the days when prizes had a better value. That said, I'm fairly happy with my participation in the program; I've gotten some nice rewards out of it for pretty much zero effort. Would I like it to be even better? Absolutely! But I have no cause for complaint even if things don't change.
