Worth Joining e-Miles?

Morning,

I just received the following from MileagePlus United :

Welcome to e-Miles
Get started earning award miles today!

You can now enroll in e-Miles and earn miles that can be deposited into your United MileagePlus® account, simply by reading and responding to marketing messages that are relevant to you. It's free and it's easy.

Receive 350 MileagePlus award miles when you join and activate your e-Miles account by 4/15/2013
Plus, earn an extra 100 e-Miles miles after you join and complete your profile

Is it worth it to join and can I transfer any points towards my United Account? I was reading the thread before submitting this post and it seems things have changed since 2007,but I want to make sure, from your input if it is worth my time.

Amazon and Restaurant.com are really not a big deal to me,since I have used Restaurant.Com before and even though it has somewhat of a small value,I do not see the big deal,as for Amazon, I hardly buy from there.

Thanks for your time.

Normally, points will be in your account within minutes of pushing the transfer button. The rules, however, state that it could take up to a month as someone stated above.

You will earn E Reward dollars for every survey you complete and once you hit $25 you'll be able to transfer it to UA for 500 miles. $50 most likely will get you 1000 miles. There may be amounts for $75 and $100 as well. Each program has it's own rules and other rewards options. Some programs have only one deposit per 30 days while others make you wait 90 days to make more deposits.

I use E rewards to keep some of my accounts active.

Salmontes
is asking about e-miles, not e-rewards.
I find e-miles to accrue at the rate of about 500 per 8 month once past the sign-up bonuses, if only clicking on the 5 point offers. A few accounts receive more lucrative surveys.

In answer to Kay_nyc, no, transfers to HH are not instant (they are from e-rewards), they occur on the first day of each month.

I made a mistake. E-miles is good for keeping an account active and the miles post in about a month. If you already earn many UA miles, than it may not be worth it to join E miles.

Hey Salmontes,

It's worth it if you have a little time to kill. I signed up for it and emiles instantly gives you 200 miles in the EMILES account. You can only transfer emiles to MileagePlus once you hit 500 miles in your EMILES account. To do this you have to answer a bunch of survey questions.

Remember, when you answer these survey questions, be interested in EVERYTHING so they will send you more surveys.

I earned 550 EMILES in less than a week and so I transferred the 500 emiles to my MileagePlus account. It took 4 weeks before actually posting to my MP account.

Now i just need 450 more emiles so I can do another transfer but like the previous poster said, the surveys are coming in at a VERY SLOW rate now and I get about one survey/week earning probably 5-30 emiles a week more or less. Also I think if i forget to check, the offers go away.

Another thing to remember, sometimes they give you extra emiles if you sign up for stuff, remember to click on the link to sign up for the offer (but give fake email addresses and addresses and it actually works most of the time).

I've been doing e-Rewards for 18 months and find it worthwhile, but I'm new to eMiles. It seems like to get miles you have to "answer a few questions" after you click on the links, in which they ask you for your personal information including email, address etc. Looks like signing up for a lot of spam for a measly 5 miles. Am I missing something?

I have been doing both erewards and emiles (no job at the moment, lol) and you'll find that the questions and surveys asked are VERY similar. If they want you to sign up for promos for extra miles, as I said in the previous post, i put fake emails and fake addresses and I still get the miles.

The initial first 300 emiles questions take along time. everything else are very short. If qualified for certain ereward surveys, i find those take VERY LONG to complete.

No Worries,I actually fly about 4 times a year,4-6 hour flights, but would like to get more miles some other way. Thanks for the information.

This is what I might be wondering about,is it really worth it,I do not mind doing surveys,I always do some reviews along my travels, but I am thinking that this one might be more spam in my inbox. Will see.

So is eRewards a different invitation from eMiles?

No, two totally different survey websites. Make sure you sign up through here: https://www.united.com/CMS/en-US/Mar...642924F#retail

Seperate link for e-miles and e-rewards.

and enter your MP number when asked.

Do you have a link for the 350 miles offer? The regular link only offers 100 miles for enrolling.

NP. Oh and FYI, i found that clicking on the tiny little check boxes is very annoying and tedious with a mouse or trackpad and found that using a tablet and finger checking is much easier.

I just finished registering, but to be honest with you,it states I have 105 miles, were the email i received would get me 350. The website looks familier to another one I was looking at last year, which that one from last year was really limited to certain companies that I did not care for.

Might be the same or the interface looks a like.

Although the promo doesnt state it, i believe it means UP to 350 miles. Keep answering all the surveys and make sure to be interested in EVERYTHING so you can get more surveys. Sign up for the extra promos i.e. "Groupon survey 5+15", you get 5 miles for completing the survey and 15 miles extra for signing up for groupon. I put fake email addresses.

E-miles without miles- absurd!

Does anybody know when this site will have miles redemption? When I joined them a few years ago, Delta was the only option, then they took it off a few months ago. Now I have some crapy options such as restaurant.com and magazines redemptions, which I have no interest in. Emailed them, they said :"in the future we will add all airlines". Asked to specify when exactly is the future- no response.

as i recall...

Believes it says "this spring"

I cashed out for an Amazon gift certificate and am done with the program. If an airline mileage option is added, I'll return.

To their credit, the Amazon code was received immediately after clicking on the redemption button.

They do have miles redemption (UA, US, Alaska, Frontier, and Airtran). You probably have to close your account and rejoin under the program you want. I think you can only have the option to redeem under one airline at a time.

Yeah, I just had my mother credited 500 miles to her MileagePlus account the other day.

IIRC, if you email them, they can change it for you. It used to be only if your geographic location changed, so that your preferred airline was no longer a viable option near you, but they might allow you to change based on DL's exit.

If you change, don't you lose all of your miles that you've already accrued?

Yes, if you've not redeemed them, but you might get lucky and get a rep who is willing to allow you to keep them, since DL is no longer participating.

Hotel and airline redemption's are back at e-miles !!!!!!!!!

needtoescape Apr 20, 2013 7:38 am

Former Delta account redemption options

I logged in this morning and saw that I could now redeem e-miles for United, UsAirways, Frontier, AirTran, Southwest, and Alaska (all at 500 e-miles points/500 airline points).

I also have hotel redemption options for Hilton (500 e-miles for 1,000 HH points) and Priority Club (500 e-miles for 750 PC points).

beggsmoore Apr 20, 2013 7:59 am

Me too. Thanks for the heads up!!

Interesting that PC points are not as good a deal now on e-miles as on e-rewards relative to airline miles. On e-rewards, the PC points/airline miles ratio is 2-1; on e-miles, it is only 1.5.

Regardless, I'm happy to have airline options again.

LongingForORD Apr 21, 2013 10:07 am

Thanks needtoescape, I did not know what to do with my points since Delta left e-miles. Transfering to United works for me. Thanks for posting!

Ah, but now you have an extra 500 mile bonus that should make up for it. :)

That is VERY true, however, I would have had 600 miles instead of a measly $10 amazon.com certificate.
