check in at two hotels on same night?

Will I have any problems if I check in at two hotels (say Park Inn and Country Inn) on the same night? I'll briefly be in proximity of cheaper properties, and would like to do a mattress run to take advantage of the promos. I will do everything in person, no cheating.

Has anyone done this? Anybody see anything in the T&C that would disqualify from the promos (I don't) ?

Also, can I check out immediately or, say, an hour after check-in?

Thanks!

This was asked in another thread

on the miles buzz section. No one responded either, however, here is my take. Suppose you do get answers, odds are that some will say yes no problem, and others will say no, they had problems. In the end, you are back at square one. Ultimately it is CC that can answer that question, and somehow I do not feel comfortable to call and ask.

CC could easily deny you points on the grounds that you are "double dipping". i know that you mentioned check in, then check out an hour latter and then check in on the other location. In their records it will show that you have 2 reservations on two separate properties, you'll probably get the points for the first one, and maybe for the second one, or maybe not.

If I where you, I will do a STAYCATION on 2 separate days. It appears that Park Inn does not have many locations in the US, compared to CI or Radisson. So stay at the Park Inn, and then on another ocassion do a stay on CI and another on Radisson. You did not mentioned Radisson, but they also have same promo, not sure if you signed up and qualified.

Thanks for the suggestion Both my wife and I are registered for all 3 promos, and we already have 3 real stays planned, but I don't know how to justify this to my dear parents who I and my children are staying with: "Mom and Dad, I will stay at an airport hotel tonight, 25 miles from your house, while the kids are with you and my wife is back home" - this may meet some resistance

The promo T&C talks about "nights", not sure how they define it but it is conceivable that checking in at 1pm and checking out at 3pm may be considered a "day" stay and disqualified.

But I see nothing in the T&C that would preclude me from staying concurrently at two brands and qualifying for both promos.

As to being back to square one with both positive and negative answers... well, I figure it doesn't hurt to ask. Yes, I am uncomfortable calling CC about this but I may actually ask on their Facebook page.

Cheers!

no problem maximixer

I know we all want to maximize the deal, but at the same time it is best not go out of our ways, ie 2 stays on same day, which might not go on our favor. the rewards are far greater. No need on dummy bookings and then miss out on some technicality.

Enjoy your vacation and visit to parents. We all have the same problems, some of our loved ones just can not understand the things we do for points, but once they see the rewards we get, then they start asking what's the next "deal" going on and if they can get on it. Heck, you might try that with your parents and transfer their points to your account, just a thought.

Bring the wife and kids with you and have a little "vacation".

I see no reason you have to sleep in the hotel. Just be there in person to check in to satisfy that part. If you know a day you will be close to the airport, just stop by check in and leave. If you are worried about checking out, you could call the next day and say you were late for your plane and didn't have time to pick up the bill and see if they can can email it to you or whatever.

If you and your wife also will be making real stays of longer than 1 day, I'd suggest booking separately under each of your accounts.

Since you and your wife signed up for the same promos...why don't you book 1 night at Park Inn in Your name and same night for your Wife at Country Inn (or vice versa) to avoid any problems that concern you (same night at 2 properties).

I wish there was some clarity on this issue. I'm checking out of a Club Carlson tomorrow in order to stay one night at a different Club Carlson property for the promotion. . . and then I'll check back in the day after tomorrow at my current hotel. I would rather just keep my existing room at my current hotel and double-up on rooms tomorrow night, but I'm checking out of my current hotel just to make sure I don't run afoul of some rule.

Incidentally, in searching for an answer to the question posed in this thread, I found that SPG does apparently allow multiple hotels for the same night. . .

You really don't have to check out at 3pm. Check in at 1pm, go to the room, relax for a few minutes on the bed and use the restroom and leave. The next day, you can just call them to say you have checked out. Hell, there is no need to even call, as I've just left in the morning without informing anyone. Housekeeping will come around 11 and see you've already left anyway.

Basically, there is no reason to inform them at 3pm that you're checking out.

Unless the other hotel is far away, why would you want to pay for 2 rooms when you can just stay at the other property and move back to the original hotel?

I booked my stays this past weekend prior to reading this thread. I was so excited in getting in on the radission and country inn promo I didnt realize I booked two reservations at two hotels in one night. When you plan on just checking in and checking out without staying, you dont think about "what's possible" as a real guest. Only after I read your thread did I realize what I did and let out a big "duh". I was kind of mad at myself for putting myself in risk of not getting the points.

But, rest assured the points posted after 4 days into my account. So, to answer your question, the points posted when I booked two reservations at two different hotels on the same night. Do I advise doing it? No. Reason being, it's too big of a risk for the amount of promo points being awarded. If you have time to change it into different nights, I would do it. I could be just the exception that got overlooked by the club carlson "police" for points abuse.

Also, I checked in person at both hotels and then phoned in the next day telling them I had to rush out and left the keys in the room. Both front desks said there would be no issue. Actually, I forgot to leave the keys in the Country Inn and it still was not an issue with them. The Radisson preferred I checked out over the phone rather than in person when I checked in. I also noticed they did not ask for any ID or CC at check in. Maybe because I booked everything on their site and held the room with a CC prior. So, you can probably check in, key into the room, leave the keys, go home and then call into the front desk the next day and say you checked out.

Hope this helps you out.

Fwiw, someone asked the same question to Club Carlson on twitter and they said you CANNOT get points for both hotels on the same day.

Did they mean no issue in general, or did you specifically ask whether promo points would be an issue? I just wonder if their software has a field for noting HOW a guest checked out, but often employees are too busy to set it properly.

Thanks.

I was not that specific. I just asked if I could check out via phone in general. They said that was ok. The points posted after 4 days. Like I said, YMMV. If you have the ability to check out in person I would do it. It's too much risk to put yourself in to not get those points. You know what I mean?

Yes, I completely understand and will try my best to do everything by the book. Thanks for sharing.
