Qatar have confirmed the presence of a policy whereby if a customer booked a QSuites flight and subsequently gets an aircraft type swap can you request travel on an alternative flight, subject to availability, see post #2709 Previously this included change of routing, now it only includes changing the date on the same routing. QR issued tickets only!

From TGFlyerGirl:
there are some quite complex rules entries around seat selection - but in essence, solo travellers as a guideline won't be assigned QUADS (they are blocked off), and it's generally for 3/4 pax families. Once a QUAD has been broken up (out of necessity - for example with a couple in the E/F seats), then the rest of the quad is unlocked and can be filled with individual travellers.
They've also made 1A/2B last offered to allow airport flexibility to handle last minute requests. The other 18 windows and aisles are free for reservation as per the normal process.
The bassinet position is 11B/J (77W) and 8B/J (A359), reduced mobility seats are 2/4/6/9 B and J.
All A/E/F/K's are backward facing, all B,D,G,J's are forward facing. Total 20 Forward/22 Backward.
Capacity:
77W: J42/Y312
High density 77W: J24/Y388
77L: J42/Y230
35K: J46/Y281
359: J36/Y247

My biggest concern is the knee-room. If I'm lying on my back, I like to be able to bring my knees up and down without hindrance. For this reason I avoid a lot of the staggered seats that enclose your legs. Some of the reverse herringbones have this challenge as well.
I'm in a minority I know - but it's why I am very happy with the business class seats on UA, LH, and other unfancied airlines. Length, footwell size, knee room, and cushioning are the key things for me. I've had no issue with narrower seats, and I'll happily trade storage space, privacy, and food quality for a good bed.

So, in light of the similarities (and not ignoring QR's equity ownership in IAG), will this be now BA's new (r)evolutionary CW seat?

It has more storage than the CW seat, more privacy and direct aisle access. Other than that it is indeed close to the BA product. That said, I don't think there's something wrong with a CW seat evolution where they have properly addressed all the complaints.

I do think though that it could be beneficial for both QR and BA if the latter used the (slightly modified) QSuite concept in place of the upcoming CW-evolution.
High level thoughts only, I know nothing of the compatibility/footprint/costs/etc.

The seat configuration is not 8 accross and is not even close to the density of the BA CW bed. The BA CW bed is shorter and narrower, almost all the seat overlaps with the seat next to it making it effectiveley 8 accross.
On the Qsuite only the lower half of your leg overlaps with the lower half of the passenger's leg that is next to you. It works the same as a reverse herringbone seat (A350/787 business class) where the lower leg (narrow part of a human body) overlaps with your seat pan (wide part of a human body) and thigh of the next passenger. The difference is that by overlapping the lower legs you can make the foot well wider than in a reverse herringbone seat.
Also the seat back is very high on the Qsuite compared to the existing seats which gives a visual illusion of it being narrower than it really is. It is slightly narrower than the existing QR seat at the seat pan but actually wider at the shoulder and foot well. Wait till you try the seat.

QR38 (CDG-DOH) just switched from an a350 to a 77W in mid-July. Showing the old seatmap. Any chance it could see a change to the Q Suites?
If not, any recommendations for a decent 77W seat? I tried row 1 on the 77L last year and was massively disappointed with how uncomfortable the bed was.

Pyros since there is only ONE 77W fitted with Qsuites at the moment then the chances are almost zero!

Hey - I think I sat next to you on a UA flight from SFO-LHR last year... I have pictures to prove it - the first and only time I've seen someone make their seat into a flat bed to use it as a yoga mat...

On the Qsuite that area is unconstrained allowing extra space that could give you more room to stretch your arms when you sleep, or allow you to sit in alternative lounging seating positions on longer flights (e.g. side ways with legs crouched up) and more space in general to shift around. It is also a storage compartment and can be raised to become an arm rest. You also now get two pillows thanks to the extra space.

I saw a quote from AAB a year or two ago in which he said that QR would start to move away from F because he intended to design and provide a J experience (both hard and soft products) which exceeded most carriers' F offering. I haven't tried the QSuite yet; but it appears that he might have succeeded.

We're booked on a A350 JFK-DOH during the 1st week of January 2018.
If it were you, would you try and change it to the 777 in hopes of getting the suite, or do you think the odds of that route/aircraft being changed to suites by that date are low? (Changing the aircraft would require juggling dates a bit)

rje444 the plans for retrofitting QR aircraft with Qsuites are not very concrete at the moment, not can they be. So giving the oft quoted advice of the last many months 'Never choose your flights for a particular aircraft type. You may be disappointed.'
Who knows new deliveries of the A350, possibly with Qsuites, may be used on that route.
