Qatar have confirmed the presence of a policy whereby if a customer booked a QSuites flight and subsequently gets an aircraft type swap can you request travel on an alternative flight, subject to availability, see post #2709 Previously this included change of routing, now it only includes changing the date on the same routing. QR issued tickets only!
Qatar Airways confirms new business class seatA video of the new Q Suite can be seen here - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_yhZDsctiZg

From TGFlyerGirl:
there are some quite complex rules entries around seat selection - but in essence, solo travellers as a guideline won't be assigned QUADS (they are blocked off), and it's generally for 3/4 pax families. Once a QUAD has been broken up (out of necessity - for example with a couple in the E/F seats), then the rest of the quad is unlocked and can be filled with individual travellers.
They've also made 1A/2B last offered to allow airport flexibility to handle last minute requests. The other 18 windows and aisles are free for reservation as per the normal process.
The bassinet position is 11B/J (77W) and 8B/J (A359), reduced mobility seats are 2/4/6/9 B and J.
All A/E/F/K's are backward facing, all B,D,G,J's are forward facing. Total 20 Forward/22 Backward.
Capacity:
77W: J42/Y312
High density 77W: J24/Y388
77L: J42/Y230
35K: J46/Y281
359: J36/Y247

I just finished my first Qsuite flight from London to Doha a couple of days ago.
I was on a trip from London to Tokyo Haneda and from Doha it was a A350. I must say that was quite a difference going from Qsuite and then to the - still new - Business Class on the A350.
The Qsuite will look really good on the A350 as there is no overhead bins in the middle part. On the current B777 it feels a bit cramped due to the overhead bins. When you sit in the seat it is not an issue and it is really spacious.
It was clear that it is a news product as the service needs some adjustment and getting use to by the crew. But it is impressive what now in called Business Class compared to 5-10 years ago.
Made this short video on it so you can see it for your self - I can only recommend it - it is good :-)

Flew qr8 last Thursday. Enjoyed the experience and cabin was I think 75% full. Personally I like the actual seat of the a350 better in terms of seat and storage, but the complete privacy of the suite is a definite plus.

Wondering if anyone has the information about the next 777-300ER to be retrofitted with Qsuite seats.
Next batch of new 777-300ERs are joining the fleet soon, starting with A7-BEK. Can we assume that they will be equipped with Qsuite from factory?
Cheers for all info.

flyvirgin at the moment there are no QR aircraft being retrofitted and it would appear that retrofitting has been put on hold. Given the extra demands placed upon the longhaul fleet during this current crisis that is hardly surprising. A7-BEK is due for delivery shortly, fitted with Qsuites, and this may create enough room in the fleet for retrofitting to restart.

Review
Flew the Q Suites on a LHR - DOH leg last week. The flight was pretty full, so didn't feel like taking videos and doing a fill review. That said, the product is pretty amazing. Our flight experienced some IFE issues and the crew only managed to reset the system 3 hours into a 6.5 hour flight. That said, everything else was superb.
The seat is quite different from the 787/a350/a380 B/E Aerospace Diamond Plus offering. Instead of the "footrest" lifting up towards your legs, the seat base essentially slides forward and the back of the seat lowers down to make your bed. There is no movable footrest - just the fixed alcove under the screen in the Q Suite and the seat base which connects to it. As a result, I actually found the bed position more comfortable as there are fewer "breaks" in the surface you lay on. However, this also means you can't easily lower the seat into bed position (or lift it back up to a seat) while laying down. You need to keep sliding up or down the seat. Additionally, I found that the seat table (solid as a rock) sits slightly lower than the one on the 787/a350/a380 seat, so there is slightly less space vertically in the foot alcove area.
Apart from the above, the only gripes I had with the product are that the crew need to unlock everyone's sliding doors with a special tool before those become operational. That was done 30-40 min into the flight and relocked 30-40 min before landing so there is less time for a solo passenger to enjoy "cubicle" privacy. Additionally, when I had my door closed, it clearly made it harder for the crew to communicate with me. Normally, the FAs would wave their hand over the door to draw my attention, which didn't always work as I was concentrating on watching a movie after the IFE system was finally operational.

We're a couple. On my next 77w flight the middle seats are blocked - and unable to assign online. Does anyone know if they will release those to couples if calling in? Or are they still reserved for 3/4 people and only released closer to date?

dodgeflyer to open a block of four seats and have two allocated to a couple requires intervention by QR so you need to contact them to get middle seats.
Please remember that there are only two flights a day at the moment and QR are probably still trying to find the most satisfactory method of seat allocation.

Edit: called them - said middle seats only available for groups of 4

BKKA380 welcome to the QR forum.
Please remember that a rotation can consist of more than two flights (not flight numbers necessarily).
There are quite a few readers of this forum who do not know what a rotation is but still understand what a flight is.
We are after all not all experts!

I am going to be flying Qatar from the US to Doha in February 2018 and want thoughts on which route I should book if I was hoping for Qsuites.
1. JFK-DOH @ 11am - Currently operated by A350
2. MIA-DOH @ 7:40pm - Currently operated by 777
I know anything can happen and there is no guarantees for either, but which route do you think is more likely to have Qsuites by then?
