Qatar have confirmed the presence of a policy whereby if a customer booked a QSuites flight and subsequently gets an aircraft type swap can you request travel on an alternative flight, subject to availability, see post #2709 Previously this included change of routing, now it only includes changing the date on the same routing. QR issued tickets only!
Qatar Airways confirms new business class seatA video of the new Q Suite can be seen here - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_yhZDsctiZg

From TGFlyerGirl:
there are some quite complex rules entries around seat selection - but in essence, solo travellers as a guideline won't be assigned QUADS (they are blocked off), and it's generally for 3/4 pax families. Once a QUAD has been broken up (out of necessity - for example with a couple in the E/F seats), then the rest of the quad is unlocked and can be filled with individual travellers.
They've also made 1A/2B last offered to allow airport flexibility to handle last minute requests. The other 18 windows and aisles are free for reservation as per the normal process.
The bassinet position is 11B/J (77W) and 8B/J (A359), reduced mobility seats are 2/4/6/9 B and J.
All A/E/F/K's are backward facing, all B,D,G,J's are forward facing. Total 20 Forward/22 Backward.
Capacity:
77W: J42/Y312
High density 77W: J24/Y388
77L: J42/Y230
35K: J46/Y281
359: J36/Y247

Yepp. Totally forgot that Paris Air Show is this week. Too bad I'm busy. Currently on trip to France and a mere 3 hours away from Paris. Shame that I don't have time to head to the Air Show.
Edit: Managed to carve out some time next Saturday and really tempted to pull the trigger on a same day return with AF. A +130€ (air fare + entry ticket) seem somewhat expensive for a day at an air show ...

There's a new video on the QR Instagram page.
Without checking for myself, am I the only one who thinks the seat looks rather narrow on the shoulders?

So, here's a first look of the Q Suite from The Points Guy.
In the picture above you can see what I was talking about: you'll be seating way too close to the divider and your shoulders might even touch it. The other seat, closer to the window, shouldn't have this "problem" (might not even be a problem, just speculation before a trip review).

Looking at the new Qsuites I feel that I must rewrite a well used phrase of mine. 'Never mind the Quality, feel the width'. This is a saying from the drapery trade at the start of the 1900s which really means when selling try to draw attention away from a weak area to something else.
I will say 'Never mind the comfort look at all the features!' about the Qsuites!
Please prove me wrong! Nothing would please me more!

My biggest concern is the knee-room. If I'm lying on my back, I like to be able to bring my knees up and down without hindrance. For this reason I avoid a lot of the staggered seats that enclose your legs. Some of the reverse herringbones have this challenge as well.
I'm in a minority I know - but it's why I am very happy with the business class seats on UA, LH, and other unfancied airlines. Length, footwell size, knee room, and cushioning are the key things for me. I've had no issue with narrower seats, and I'll happily trade storage space, privacy, and food quality for a good bed.

I think AAB mentioned that the catering would be further upgraded with the introduction of the Q-Suite. Any further information on that?
I see the photo from TPG above shows an electronic candle on the dinner setting, similar to what TK uses on its dinner presentations.

My personal worry is the lack of a view (of the cabin)
With the furthest point of view being only an arms length away I can only imagine these tiny cubicles feeling very claustrophobic.
I think I'd happily trade the privacy for a more spacious view, but I guess I'd have to try it.
