Qatar have confirmed the presence of a policy whereby if a customer booked a QSuites flight and subsequently gets an aircraft type swap can you request travel on an alternative flight, subject to availability, see post #2709 Previously this included change of routing, now it only includes changing the date on the same routing. QR issued tickets only!
Qatar Airways confirms new business class seat

A video of the new Q Suite can be seen here - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_yhZDsctiZg

Photos of the new Q Suite can be seen here - http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/28007634-post109.html

From TGFlyerGirl:
there are some quite complex rules entries around seat selection - but in essence, solo travellers as a guideline won't be assigned QUADS (they are blocked off), and it's generally for 3/4 pax families. Once a QUAD has been broken up (out of necessity - for example with a couple in the E/F seats), then the rest of the quad is unlocked and can be filled with individual travellers.

They've also made 1A/2B last offered to allow airport flexibility to handle last minute requests. The other 18 windows and aisles are free for reservation as per the normal process.

The bassinet position is 11B/J (77W) and 8B/J (A359), reduced mobility seats are 2/4/6/9 B and J.

All A/E/F/K's are backward facing, all B,D,G,J's are forward facing. Total 20 Forward/22 Backward.

Capacity:
77W: J42/Y312
High density 77W: J24/Y388
77L: J42/Y230
35K: J46/Y281
359: J36/Y247

Which routes have Qsuites?
Details and changes can be found in the various recent threads.

As to other routes NO ONE KNOWS!

I repeat NO ONE KNOWS!! so do not ask!

Hi, my wife and I are taking our first QSuites flights in June/July from DFW-DOH (en route to MLE) and I have a question about the A350-1000 center seats. I'm a bit sensitive to flying warm and I understand that there are no personal air nozzles in the center section. Has this been an issue for anyone? I was considering bringing a small travel fan, but didn't know how necessary it would be. Before I embarrass my wife by bringing one on board, I'd thought I'd see if anyone has any feedback. On a related note, since there are no carry on bins above the center seat, is there still plenty of overhead/storage space (i.e., can we still use the overhead bins over the window seats which I understand are "over-sized". Appreciate any advice, thanks!

I had the same concern first time we flew the A350-1000 in the center E/F seats and actually brought along a small travel fan myself. I did use it while I was lying down sleeping, which gave me the air flow I needed, but when sitting up did not find using it at all necessary. If you do take it, however, just be careful how you position it when lying down since I found out after the fact that it blew more on my traveling companion than me, which he did not like.

Yes, the bins are huge....no problem at all sharing them with the person across the aisle who was actually seated underneath, though I was extra cautious whenever opening the bin since I didn't want to drop anything down on her head.

Thank you so much for the feedback. As much as anything, I just like the airflow. I'm going to go ahead and buy one on Amazon. If I somehow accidentally start freezing my wife out, she most certainly will not hesitate to let me know.

Question Best Q-Suite EF row in A350-1000?

I'm sure there are opinions on this somewhere in this thread, but after some searching I haven't found them: Any recommendations on the best Q-Sutie EF row for a couple on the A350-1000? I'd guess that Row 3 is best in the forward cabin. But is Row 11 in the rear cabin better in terms of quiet, privacy, etc?

Thanks for any advice.

I was literally about to ask this exact question. My wife and I are currently in Row 5 both ways, but I think you’re right that 3 may be better. I’ve read mixed reviews about the rear cabin, however.

We've done both. If anything, row 11 is quieter, but we didn't really find much difference to be honest.

Hello, are there any Qsuite "saver" reward availability recently? Planning to fly to Bangkok in April/May 2025.

I have booked 6 different J or F flights from/to BKK at x1 rate in the last 2 weeks, albeit all for travel in the next few months.

You are asking about availability over a year in advance, and before the booking window opens. Nobody can say for sure now what availability will be when it does open, or whether the aircraft operating any particular flights will be qsuite equipped. That latter point could well be subject to aircraft and schedule changes until much nearer departure, so booking on the basis of a particular seat type a year out may be subject to disappointment.

Bear in mind also that if your proposed dates coincide with Easter and/or Songkran, x1 availability may be throttled and/or very thin on the ground.

thanks for your insight and feedback. I have never looked into qsuite booking, so now I understand that there's still a chance but I now know what I should expect.

In addition to avios availability, and as an example for a random day this coming week, QR has 6 direct flights between BKK-DOH. Only 2 of those are scheduled to operate with Qsuites (one a 42 seat cabin, the other a 24 seat cabin). Of the others, one is a 787-8 with 1-2-1 seating, one is an A380 with 1-2-1 seating, another is a QR 777 with 2-2-2 seating, and the last is an ex-Cathay Pacific 777 with 1-2-1 seating.

That means only c.28% of business class seats operating the route that day are Qsuite.

This time last year you may have found a couple of ex-Virgin Australia aircraft on this route, as well as at times an additional A380. So perhaps only one rotation with Qsuite.

BKK probably gets one of the most mish-mashed aircraft and seat allocations on QR's whole network, which changes regularly. You can bag a Qsuite on this route but there are more reliable destinations if that seat type is essential.

Great info. I was searching from YUL to BKK. Should I still expect to see the green flag that I read from some write up? I found a lot of availability with 95,000 for business one way, which is the standard redemption rate. I did not see the green flag besides the selection. Should I assume that is the saver reward? Appreciated your assistance.

Not a QSuite (again)

Again, 3 days before a flight my QSuite flight was changed (even worse, to a 777 &#128563. I contacted via chat to request a change of flight, but all they could offer me produced a connection time in DOH of more than 12 hours. And no, I could not have a STPC room because my change was 'voluntary'. I cannot move to another day due to meetings. This has happened to me 3 times in the last year. If I was a cynic, I might wonder if this is what the going people call 'bait & switch'.

Good thing that you're not a cynic, because it's not. (Let's ignore the fact that all of the previous generations of QR's long haul business class seats are more comfortable than those in the QSuite, which have less padding and which don't articulate, the seat part remains parallel to the floor regardless of which position the seat is in, though clearly if privacy is more important to you than seat comfort, QSuite is far better.) You paid for transportation in business class and got it. As with any airline, aircraft are moved around in the schedule depending on lots of factors. I remember the same conversations/complaints when CX introduced its [then] new J and F hard products. New long haul aircraft have QSuites, and the current fleet is being retrofitted over time (or scheduled for phaseout, like the 380). As time passes, your chances of getting a QSuite outfitted aircraft will continue to increase, but it's not yet at 100%, even when a flight is scheduled to be on a QSuite-equipped aircraft.
