Qatar have confirmed the presence of a policy whereby if a customer booked a QSuites flight and subsequently gets an aircraft type swap can you request travel on an alternative flight, subject to availability, see post #2709 Previously this included change of routing, now it only includes changing the date on the same routing. QR issued tickets only!
Qatar Airways confirms new business class seat

A video of the new Q Suite can be seen here - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_yhZDsctiZg

Photos of the new Q Suite can be seen here - http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/28007634-post109.html

From TGFlyerGirl:
there are some quite complex rules entries around seat selection - but in essence, solo travellers as a guideline won't be assigned QUADS (they are blocked off), and it's generally for 3/4 pax families. Once a QUAD has been broken up (out of necessity - for example with a couple in the E/F seats), then the rest of the quad is unlocked and can be filled with individual travellers.

They've also made 1A/2B last offered to allow airport flexibility to handle last minute requests. The other 18 windows and aisles are free for reservation as per the normal process.

The bassinet position is 11B/J (77W) and 8B/J (A359), reduced mobility seats are 2/4/6/9 B and J.

All A/E/F/K's are backward facing, all B,D,G,J's are forward facing. Total 20 Forward/22 Backward.

Capacity:
77W: J42/Y312
High density 77W: J24/Y388
77L: J42/Y230
35K: J46/Y281
359: J36/Y247

Which routes have Qsuites?

CAI flights can have any type of seats, including the A320 (but always lie-flat IME). Can change from day to day.

1A is right near to front lavatory. It's usually blocked in case of disability passenger. Some countries require it, as bulkhead seat to be reassigned from current occupant, if disability passenger requests.

For folks asking about rear-facing center section seats, and which are best:
Wife and I just finished 10 hours in row 1, followed by 15 hours in row 5. (Its been a long day/night, and still not done). Last year we did row 3. I did not notice any difference between them at all (crew noise, bathroom proximity, etc).

DISCLAIMER: Just my 2 cents. YMMV.

If it is center only-option, I would probably opt for row 2, 4 or 6 (forward facing). But if you are talking QR706 on 3/2, you may be limited to whatever is available. (ExpertFlyer is showing only one seat available)

Also, you may need to call to get a center section seat assigned to you. For single-passenger reservations, these are often blocked for online selection as they are prioritized for couples/families.

What to do?

I have a once in a life time trip upcoming to Maldives and I have been looking for 2 J awards back from MLE to JFK. Is there a chance two award seats would open or should I buy full priced economy seat and hope theres an upgrade? My date is sept 1, 2024. I searched on seats.aero and it states for my date no award seat was ever available? Thank You
