Is there any hope they would allow a change if the equipment changes as well as a minor departure time change?

EG switch from a HEL departure to ARN when the HEL flight is rescheduled by 5 mins and moved from 787 to a330?

i assume not, but it would be cheaper / easier to position to ARN than HEL for an upcoming trip I have.

Based on feedback on the forum, not a chance.
The 2 hours or more you have a fair chance. Anything under that - no.
Equipment change- no.

Not sure what to do as the BA/IB flights I can change to (that my ticket allows) all get in after the flight departs from MAD...
Unfortunately your only option is to book an earlier flight from LHR or preferably change it to the day before and get a hotel at MAD.

In reality allowing 2 hours to self connect before a long haul is cutting it fine on a good day and December often has lots of bad days in it.

To be fair, a two hour connection on separate tickets with bags to collect, recheck and immigration and security to clear twice was always going to be very tight. Being under two hours, it's classed as a minor time change by QR (and most airlines) so your options are really just to pay now for changing to an earlier BA flight, buy another ticket on an earlier flight (with any airline), or if you have a BA "plus" ticket, which it sounds like you have if you're taking checked bags, go to the BA website at midnight on the day of departure and hope there is an earlier flight you can switch to for free. The latter has an element of danger though...

Get stung with this too in early December on my way to BKK, quite disappointed as much prefer 1-2-1 to 2-2-2. Outbound day flight not a problem, but night flight on the way back won't be as good without a full flat seat. At least DOH-BKK-DOH is still A380, bit might change outbound as me and my friend have the ONLY allocated seats i A380 J

My dad gets stung even worse on his tripto HKT. Was supposed to be 787 all segments, now 333s on HEL legs and 773s on HKT legs.

The schedule of November for MIA is quite surprising.
QR777 flying with an A350 from DOH to MIA
QR778 flying back with a B777 from MIA to DOH
seems they swap planes in MIA

Does this mean NCE is becoming a Business-Class service only?

I believe that the A319s have been reconfigured to a J/Y config.

Shame, although this has yet to be updated on their website (I just put a hold on for QR001 for 13OCT17, which still reflects the A350).

Thanks Steve_ZA and Johnnieboy, I appreciate your insight! I think I will switch my BA ticket to the day before and spend the night in MAD.

Are you flying out in October and back in November by any chance? A350 allocation to MIA has only been published for Sep/Oct so far.

It might be worth checking upcoming bookings as i've had a new wave of flight changes for my flights in October, December and February.

The October one is quite frustrating as I was holding off booking the positioning flight just in case of another schedule change, but booked it 5 days ago and now will have to rebook.

I understand why its happening but its definitely frustrating.
