For all questions about tests: AF/KL will ask for one in Barcelona, even if you have a long transit in MEX. You probably can convince them that you will do a test in MEX, but I would recommend getting one before the flight out of BCN.

If you have a long transit in MEX, then definitely do one in MEX too.

Spain requires only proof of vaccination. This means that you won't be required to test on the way back.

If you are in doubt about the exact rules (not a surprise as they are changing all the time), I would highly recommend the passport/visa feature of Expertflyer Pro. This gives you the exact entry requirements for a country, depending on your nationality, origin and transit country. It's based off Timatic, the program also used by (most) airlines to define what a passenger needs to show during check-in.

Just purchased this deal for late May using Scandinavian OTA (via metasearch) for $1050. Itinerary via CDG/MEX and back via MEX/AMS. Managed to get AF and KL on TATL flights.

How AM deals with the agency tickets in case of any schedule changes, can this be easily rebooked directly with them or they always send pax back to OTA?

Just did this trip a week ago. On the way to Brazil, only one antigen test done 24h within departure from BCN is required. We had an overnight layover in MEX, when we showed up at the counter in MEX for the MEX-GRU flight, our original antigen test was good to go - no need to do any extra test in MEX. Even if the counter gives you a hard time (AM is not necessarily known for consistencies), there are a few testing sites right at MEX T2 that give a (antigen) result back in 30 min.

On the way back to Europe, no one checked our vaccination or test (not needed if you end your trip in Spain) whatsoever during the entire trip, not in GRU, and not in MEX...

That sounds interesting. But you are right. There is currently not any "High risk" country classified for Spain, so no test needed there. And for Brazil it says 24 hours prior to travel date, though I see the potential to argue with the agents in MEX.

Is anybody able to give me the ticket conditions? Whenever I click on the fare rules, they are empty and I don't even know if I can change the flight without any penalty.

72 hours for PCR, 24 hours for antigen for Brazil. I had to show my test results twice, in MAD and BCN to both AirEuropa & Aeromexico agents and didn't have a problem! Didn't need to show my results (or Anvisa form) in GRU.

In MEX, they didn't look at the test results (at either immigration or at the gate).

Was just about to pull the trigger on this... and I noticed that travellers who have been in the UK in past 14 days must quarantine for 14 days once in Brazil so this pretty much rules me out if the rules stay the same :/

Are you speaking with AM? I am considering to postpone the trip by 3 months but will keep the dates if changing costs +1k.

On the other side they changed my return do to a cancellation on the CDG-BCN segment and all the alternatives I suggested came with a reprice of the ticket because, apparently, the fare bucket “I” was not available and they had to book me in C.
At the end I kept the itinerary they offered, but it will mean over 6h @ CDG.
