Lost wallet and ID advice
Live in Denver. On vacation with Mrs. 1C in California (SNA). Return flight on UA Sunday 3/2 at 4PM. Her wallet was either stolen or lost this evening, leaving her with no ID whatsoever. Seems like FEDEX no longer does sunday delivery so having the dogsitter send the passport would require us to stay until Monday.
I have considered the following options: I think have a xerox of her drivers license, SS card at the office, and could have someone scan those and the passport for a pretty high quality printout. I could try and find someone on FT flying DEN-SNA on Saturday or sunday and see if they could take her passport. Or, something similar recently happend to my sister and she cried her way through TSA security. Can anyone with a similar experience please advise?

One does not need an ID to travel. When you check in, you can simply
tell the UA agent that She does not have an ID(or lost) and they'll print a
boarding pass with "secondary screening" marked on it.
She'll have to go through extra procedures, but she will be able to travel.

US Postal Service does Sunday deliveries. Find an open post office on Saturday and you can have the ID expressed.

Sorry to hear about the theft.
Bring the police report to the airport in case United gives you a hassle. It is possible the ticket counter agent will show pity on your wife and not issue an SSSS boarding pass. United is actually one of the more reasonable (or rather, less unreasonable) airlines when it comes to ID.
Regardless, as others have said, she can and will fly without ID.

As long as you can get a boarding pass from the airline (if you're on one record that should be as easy as having the person with ID stick a credit card into a checkin machine) you don't need to tell anyone the whole sordid story. When you get to the TSA and you don't have ID just tell them so. They'll send you down the secondary screening lane. It's that easy.

back to the ticket agent to get a new boarding pass.
OP: You should either check-in your wife's luggage in your name or
take it with you so she does not have to wait too long through the
secondary screening.

Don't worry about it, they'll just make her a SSSS passenger. No big deal, just an ETD and a pat-down. Don't bother with the copy and stuff, they won't except it and that'll just get you an eye-roll. Just show your ID and boarding pass, inform them that here's your wife boarding pass and unfortunately her wallet got stolen. That's all, don't put out a whole sob story, it won't matter, just be concise and sincere, and it won't be a biggie. I hope the TSO is courteous when checking, and the SSSS lane isn't all that long.
Don't worry about it. At MCO the SSSS wait, is generally 15 minutes or less, and is one of the shorter lines. Hope that's the case, but it really shouldn't add an excessive amount of time through security.

Despite what the kind TSAer from MCO says, it's not like that everywhere.
More to what cpx says....don't let the TSA see you take your wife's carry-ons, that gives you a government-issued massage and rifling through your bags as well.
And you probably shouldn't take her purse either. You might want to let her walk through on her own and you can meet her after clearing the "security" checkpoint.

Hmmm, now I'm curious, if your traveling with a SSSS at other airports, and your not a SSSS yourself, they still give you, as a none SSSS, a patdown and go through your stuff simply because your traveling with them, or had contact?

Do any airlines still offer "small package" service between two airports?
By the way, FedEx does indeed offer Sunday delivery. In fact, they offer 24/7 delivery. It's just that the price might make you pale.
