OP: You should either check-in your wife's luggage in your name or take it with you so she does not have to wait too long through the secondary screening.
That's what I came to say.
Despite what the kind TSAer from MCO says, it's not like that everywhere.
More to what cpx says....don't let the TSA see you take your wife's carry-ons, that gives you a government-issued massage and rifling through your bags as well.
And you probably shouldn't take her purse either. You might want to let her walk through on her own and you can meet her after clearing the "security" checkpoint.
