They finally came through for me. They realized that I had a new passport and sent me a new password. As I was starting the process of steps to donate, I got a call from them. They volunteered to do it for me, which took them less than a minute. For security reasons, they had to issue me a new password, which they sent in an email. I plan on retiring to my house in Chiangmai after my son starts college next August, so I can use the points on Hong Kong airlines before the 2 years are up.

7 years later, finding more use of these points. Redeemed 10k for HKG-TPE at 0.45cpp (usd) after subtracting the 537 hkd in fees. 90 hkd to select a seat, 180 for exit row.

Etihad has become HK airlines' partner (perfect timing, I know), so it can be interesting.
HKD 537 in fee sounds really high for such a short hop: in comparison CX charges HKD 1,100-1,200 in fees and taxes for awards HKG and nearby cities-yvr. Reportedly, they'll double that for both awards and cash tickets as of 3/18.

HKG-TPE typical price is around 700-800HKD unless peak dates.
There is a notice that they temporarily suspended EY redemptions last year, I did not go into detail.
