I still like Bing. Dong was never never Ding's opposite. It was always Ding's partner. Be it on bells or on chocolate goodies, where you find Ding, Dong is sure to follow.
On the other hand, how can anybody have anything against Bing -- with the exception of Bob Hope?

Wasn’t Punki Dong a popular video arcade game back in the 1980s?...

I am going to invent and patent a game called ping pong. ;)

;) Since everyone else is admiting their anonymous dings & bongs, I will admit... I am the anonymous positive point gnome. I figure, I've got three a day to give, so I don't want to waste them. ;) I also give negatives one day a week. That way I have time to cool off first, and if I only leave three per week, I have to make them count. Mr. Petersen, PLEASE turn off the anonymous part of the reputation 'feature'. |
I was skeptical at the beginning, but I now think the reputation feature is the greatest thing to hit Flyertalk since the cut-and-paste flame wars (boy, were those fun!).
It gives us another thing to obsess over, and what is this whole site about other than irrational obsession? And getting points we'll never be able to use in real life? I was recently reminded of the words my grandma spoke to me many, many years ago. She said, "Little opus17, remember this always: Don't hate the playah, hate the game." I had no idea what she was talking about then, and I don't have any idea today. I'm not even sure why I brought it up. |

"You'll catch more flies with honey than with vinegar" (although why anyone would want to catch flies is a concept I never understood). I think she would have said it here too. |

Inspired by Ozstamps to disable reputation

This has become a cute "game" for many - with overt trawling, starting and adding to a: "add a point to my reputation and I'll reciprocate" conga line thread, emailing, PM'ing, and downright begging others (to me included) to add to their alleged "reputation". It thus serves as no accurate indication whatever as to the value or otherwise of that person's posts. The opposite result is very possible if you think on it. And as we can see above, the cute little "game" for some now extends to adding negative comments to worthwhile posters, and signing fake names of other FT'ers to them. I have read all of your posts in this thread Ozstamps and could not agree with you more ^ . I just disabled the stupid square (stupid given the current rules, or lack there of). I have one ding from a post over a month old because I "was onesided" in my opinion that perassigned seats are better than festival seating. Absolutley no need to play this game. BTW, I have never given a negative or positive reputation to anyone. |
Just disabled it because someone seemed to be following me around with dings...no comments, only comment I got was a rolleyes... :).

Paint it BLACK I see a red door - and I want it painted BLACK. No colors anymore - I want them to turn BLACK. I see the girls walk by dressed in their summer clothes, I have to turn my head until my darkness goes Hmm, hmm, hmm,... I wanna see it painted, painted BLACK, BLACK as night, BLACK as coal .... I wanna see the sun blotted out from the sky, I wanna see it painted, painted, painted, painted BLACK Yeah! Hmm, hmm, hmm,... ©Jagger/Richards. 1967. ;) |

I know there have been some detours, but that is actually what this thread is about--the lowlifes who make unfriendly reputation comments and sign someone else's name. They are a shameful breed. :( Yes, there is a HUGE difference IMHO. Signing Glens' name to a nasty comment he never sent to "ding" me is not very "proper" in ANY case, I hope we can surely all agree. Well, with less than 20 posts in the new forum, you have more reputation than most active members
