What Fun
As somone who got his first points yesterday (Thanks Carol!!!) I must say I like this feature. Is there anyway to tell how many altering points you have? Also I assume the green boxes reflect repuation points, but it there anyway to see the exact number?

RichLond, I am sure there is a scientific way to do it, but here is another way--send me some love and I will tell you how many points it added. ;)
Back to the serious issue: Are we going to get an official answer as to whether or not the administrators can see who is making the fraudulent reputation remarks and signing someone else's name? What is going to be done about those who have done this? |

rich From the FAQ Below you will find some of the guidelines used to determine how many 'points' of reputation are awarded or taken away by each user, and some of the restrictions involved with awarding reputation ratings. Register Date Factor For every 365 days a member has been a registered, they gain one point of reputation-altering power. Post Count Factor For every 1,000 posts, a member gains one point of reputation-altering power. Reputation Point Factor For every 100 points of reputation earned, a member gains one point of reputation-altering power (each member initially starts out with 10 points of reputation-altering power). Minimum Post Count A member must have a minimum of 250 posts before she/he can influence the reputation of another member. Minimum Reputation Count A member must have a minimum reputation of 20 points to influence the reputation of another member And to see how many points you currently have - 1. slide down the bottom of the My Flyertalk page 2. or hover your cursor over the icon on you: click as if you were going to give yourself reputation :D and it will tell you how many points you have Jan |
I would love to see an option that sends us a notification for every reputation point (positive or negative) that is given that includes the identity of the sender.

rich I'd be willing to give you a couple "bad reputations" if you want. They can ballance out the good ones. And like most others, there would be no reason that you deserved them. What happend to the days when we just replied to the post and said, Nice Job-Good Post, or I Disagree? Is that not the better way? All this secret knife throwing is uncalled for. |

I think that reputation should be turned on Mondays Wednesdays and Fridays and turned off Tuesdays and Thursdays. On the weekends it should be on with the ability to see who is posting. On Feb. 29 of leap years, one should get an email saying what has been said and by whom for the past 4 years.
Anyone who dares to disagree with me will earn a bad reputation point, and since I have been around for so long and have posted so much drivel, my bonging you will count more than you bonging me back, not that it will matter since I intend to sign my bongs "Matt Wald" anyway. One last thing: why hasnt Randy implemented my proposal yet?!!?!?!? I wrote it over 30 seconds ago (I am typing very slowly) ;) :p |

Signing someone else's name is just as much identity theft as stealing their password. Actually both forms identity theft have happened to me on FlyerTalk and both bother me equally.

Since I had no clue about this whole reputation thing until somebody mentioned it tonight. . .(and personally think it should be kept to Coupon Connection ONLY)
I don't think you're missing a thing jan! It was a great post - VERY informative and helpful. Thank you. I'm still not understanding what the point of the "reputation" thing is except to seemingly cause hard feelings for some folks. Also - to post negative remarks without signing your name or handle just seems a bit "chicken." If you have something to say then step up, face the person, and say it to their face (so to speak) :) Oh, and for all of those that want to say fabulous things about me and add to my reputation, feel free. . . :D |
