wrote just a little while ago about me and others on this thread: So now you would like to disengage after having delivered the flame. I'd prefer it if you politely apologized, edited your remarks, and then backed off.

dgolds Out of my own curiousity, there were a lot of simple "NO" answers to this specific question "2" in your referenced thread above. Were they saying NO, it is not a good contribution, NO, it is a good contribution, NO, it is somewhere in between, or NO, it is out of line, or NO, it is not out of line? No-one ever seemed to have asked for that to be clarifed. If someone wanted to answer that it was "a good contribution" would they not have needed to answer "YES" if they used a single word response?

And your thread was nearly 5 months back, and that person certainly persisted way after that point. His right sure, but those who were miffed mid December are bound to have got even more so in the ensuing months? I have no real feelings either way, otther than my comment on the thread that the campaign was such a sensational flopperoo that United might welcome it, as they ran 10th in the Freddies and CO won First place.

You know, I have no intention of even dignifying the points made against me here with even the most obvious comments.

However I must point out that my most vocal critic, ETOPS1, gives a detailed, empassioned history of why I was begging to be slapped down (for simply stating my opinions on a web site I paid for).

I have to laugh. The last post I made on Flyertalk about Denying Continental the Freddie was back in January. I almost completely stopped posting on FT around that time.

Or is it rather that ETOPS1 is really someone else? A multiple handle or reincarnate perhaps? Someone created just to cause trouble out of a petty need to garner attention? Who knows. On Flyertalk today, no one can know.


Randy, I respect you and appreciate what you have accomplished here with Webflyer and Flyertalk. Remember I purchased the "Flyertalk.com" name (with Catman and Rudi) and gave it as a gift to you. I set up the first Photo gallery, and was as empassioned a defender of this site as any man alive.

Your house is not in order. The good guys are leaving, and the miscreants are taking over. The good nature and experience of countless people has disappeared from your site. What few good people are left are caught between a rock and a hard place in deciding to fight back (and be labeled trouble makers, falling to the trolls) or ignore the pounding and take the high road.

With all sincere respect, either take control of your site or shut it down. It is no longer bringing you any respect. It is a nusiance and a laughing stock.

Although, I do agree this thread is out of control, and I do not condon attacking DGOLDS... there is another important piece of information missing. Those who praise DGOLDS and leture the loudmouths (for a lack of a better name) are all members of the private board moremiles. They founded it because they did not like Randy's rules and situations like this (flame war). I find it ubelieveably hypocritical of these moremile posters to complain here on FT . To say that randy should shut down his board because it is a laughing stock is the height of hypocrasy. You start a board that is heavily moderated and not open to the public then you complain when in the, old evil forum you left, they don't behave. Go back to moremiles. You should know Svpii, Njdavid,Dgolds,Markbach and others on the thread are members. Kinda of changes the texture when you know the moremiles folks are defending their own. I don't condon the bad behavior of Im4travel or etops...but I'd rather debate them, with all their warts than hide in a secret society and say one thing while really doing another. They may be rough... but at least they are real. Go back to moremiles and your calm board. ALL the people complaining here and allowing the pot to be stirred (they would have no one to argue with if you stopped responding) are moremile members. If you don't like it leave for real. Do like catman and premex did. At least the had the spine to do it right. This dual citizen approach is sad. And other than Dgolds and Njdavid... you guys don't even fly CO... your just protecting your buddy.

There are not a lot of threads where cigarman has made a post I agree with entirely. This however is one.

I disagree with what and how you refer to what Randy has done here. He's done a fine job. With the amount of daily posts here, there will always be a few that are out of line. Let's face it...some people like to argue. And they enjoy doing it because they know that guys like dgolds and dhammer53 and (almost everyone else here), start talking logically.
It's been 6 months since I got here. And there is plenty of new blood coming every day to FLYERTALK. Some of the new posters will "get it", and others will fall into that "certain profile" if you know what I mean.

I used to be a major participant on the AOL Brooklyn boards. That board finally got out of hand so I left. Everyone on that board contributed to the self-destruct.

On FLYERTALK, the % of people in self-destruct mode are very few. So I guess (IMHO), we should be happy.

If everyone woke up one morning, and they were the same race, color, religion etc., etc., by 12 noon they'd have something to fight over.

It's not a perfect world folks. Get used to it.
