Thank you for checking and reporting the diffs.

If I recall correctly, they had been operating until just a few months ago, when they were grounded by safety regulators for gross violations. I understand they were also in bankruptcy reorganization but that apparently failed and they are now being liquidated.

I've flown them a number of times, most often as part of an RTW, between JNB and CPT.

And quite a few years ago, I flew a number of segments JNB-NBO and v/v that they operated. 737-300 's if I recall.

2023-May-01 Second Visit to Asia rule change

2023-May-01 Second Visit to Asia rule change
According to
diffchecker, this is the only change.

4(e) Only one intercontinental departure and one intercontinental arrival permitted in each continent except as follows:
 1. Two permitted in North America.
 2. Two permitted in Asia when one is for travel between the Southwest Pacific and Europe/Middle East.
 3. Two permitted in Europe/Middle East for travel to/from/via Africa. If travel is to/from Europe in both directions, itinerary may not include Mauritius/South Africa.

The indicated words have been removed. This is an improvement!
It makes a second visit to Asia allowable when:
One is for travel to Africa (e.g. AKL-HKG-JNB)
Point of Origin is in Asia and the itinerary is westbound, for example:
CMB-LHR...LAX-NRT-HKG-SYD-PER-HKG-CMB

Excellent. This has been a thorn in my side for quite a while.

Thanks for pointing it out.

btw pandaperth you've been a fountain of knowledge on this forum for a long time, thank you.

ex-CAI xONEx Ending City

Just want to double check with fellow FTers.

Planning an ex-CAI, and want to end the itinerary in CMN instead of ME. Do the Rules allow?

TIA.

No. From the rules sheet.

The continent of Europe-Middle East consists of 2 zones: Europe (including Algeria, Morocco, Russia west of the Urals and Tunisia) and Middle East (including Egypt, Libya and Sudan)

Travel may originate at any point for which fares are published and must terminate at the same point, except that origin-destination surface segments are permitted as follows: a. within the country of origin b. within the Middle East c. between the United States and Canada d. between HKG and China e. between Malaysia and SIN f. within Africa g. between Maldives and Sri Lanka/India

Thank you for quoting the rules.
Sorry, I didn't mean to be picky, CMN (Casablanca is in Morocco, as part of Europe by ow rules) should be allowed as a city to end a xONEx ??

If you begin in CAI in the Middle East you can end a XoneX in the Middle East but not CMN which is in Europe. Basically they consider parts of North Africa as Europe.

Where a RTW is allowed to end depends on where the RTW starts.
The general rule is that a RTW must end back in the country from which it started.
There are specific exceptions to this general rule, which anc305 listed. Morrocco is not one of the exceptions.
So, yes you can end a RTW at CMN, but only if you started in Morrocco.

To repeat, the relevant rule is:
4(c) Travel may originate at any point for which fares are published and must terminate at the same point, except that origin-destination surface segments are permitted as follows:
a. within the country of origin
b. within the Middle East
c. between the United States and Canada
d. between HKG and China
e. between Malaysia and SIN
f. within Africa
g. between Maldives and Sri Lanka/India
Morrocco is not in the Middle East, and as defined in the rules - it is not a part of Africa.

ETA.
And tomorrow I will catch the high-speed train from Tangier down to Casablanca and then fly CMN-JFK:D

Thank you for clarifying. I thought CMN as well as CAI are consider to be part of Middle East. May bad! I plan to do a ex-CAI, so I might end at AMM instead.

In Q4 I will be doing the reverse on the high speed train (Casablanca to Tangier). Please give a brief report on the train ride. I understand it is in fact a GTV.

Safe travel!

Re the train ride
Yes, the Tangier to Casablanca train is a TGV (Train a Grande Vitesse)

Well it is a TGV from Tangier to Kenitra – the display showed the speed mostly varying between 280-300kph, and I noticed a peak of 319kph.

Between Kenitra and Rabat it is merely a T, moving much more slowly.

And then between Rabat and Casablanca it is a TV, moving at between 140 and 150 kph.

2nd Class is very comfortable, everybody has a seat. Total journey time 2h10m. And it keeps closely to its timetable.
Change at Casablanca for the 30min local train out to the airport.

The 2nd class ticket cost MAD274 (~USD28): Tangier-Casablanca-CMN

Thanks for the headsup re TGV and trains.
Good to learn that it took only 30 minutes by train from city to CMN.
Safe travel.

We are looking at a J Oneworld RWT
HND-HKG-YVR-DFW-MIA-BGI-LHR-ARN-DOH-CAI-DOH-DPS-SIN-MEL-AKL-SYD-HND.

DPS-SIN on jetstar. A lot of these flights are transit to get to a destination, ie DOH is a stopover to both CAI and DPS

Is this allowable? If not, can someone please point out in simple terms where I have gone wrong.
Much appreciated.

Jetstar is not a Oneworld airline. So cannot be used on DONE* [Rule 3015]
But Jetstar can be used on Global Explorer (distance based) DGLOB* [Rule 9701]
Are other rule differences between these fare types.
You could purchase DPS-SIN as a separate ticket on any airline.

RTW guru pandaperth will probably/hopefully comment on the route.
The OW RTW online tool is very buggy. Valid routes can error.

Look here https://www.oneworld.com/world-travel
Click on the FAQ. One of those (How much does a RTW cost) has download links for Rules 3015 & 9701
