I've had the same thing. I booked / ticketted through CX and they sent me an email a week or so ago advising of the change and that their HKG staff would be offering compensation when I check-in at HKG.

What were the sectors? I am keeping my fingers crossed as I have HKG/ICN/HKG & HKG/CGK/HKG in A class on 74A's (currently) in June so hope there are no involuntary downgrades. At the moment I am looking like the only passenger in F.

A few years ago, I had a CX HKG-SYD segment booked in A downgraded to business class due to an aircraft swap.
I was offered compensation, but preferred to switch to HKG-ADL-SYD, which was done with no problem.

accept whatever compensation the airline offers (based on previous threads it seems CX does offer reasonable invol d/g compensation unlike BA and LA)
cancel your ticket (assuming you haven't started it yet)
change your ticket (within the constraints of the fare rules) to get first on another flight (if such exists)

Thanks for everyone's input.
The segments are ICN-HKG, BKK-HKG and HKG-ICN ... as I am max'ed out to 16 segments, don't think I can do any creative rerouting ... unless they booked me to another airlines e.g. KE or TG who has F, but this is not going to happen.

Still, if those days and that time fits your schedule, it is an option within the confines of your ticket. Switch to CX702.

Mine is for March 1 2010. I booked A inventory for ICN-HKG (first leg of AONE3) 3 weeks ago, and last week when I booked additional AONE3 segments I was told that my first leg was changed to D as no A was available that day on any flights. This happens from time to time, and since like you my flights are months away, I just plan on waiting and checking inventory between now and then, and if/when flights with A service become available then I will change my booking accordingly. If within a few weeks/months of my travel date there is no A service on my day of travel, then I will evaluate whether there is A service provided on other travel days, and if so, then if it is worthwhile to alter my travel plans to be accommodated in A instead of D. After all we are only talking about a 4 hour flight here, so it is not that big a deal. While it would be nice to have First Class service on the regional routes, I really purchased the AONE3 for the First Class seat, sleeping and service on the long haul NA-ASIA, ASIA-Europe, and Europe-NA segments.
For the price we pay for Ex-ICN AONE tickets it is really difficult to find much to complain about. The fare rules allow date and time changes without incurring a fee, so switching to a day of the week where A is offered should be doable if your other travel plans (hotel, etc.) are easily changeable.

Is CX really offering compensation for downgrades from A to D on the OWE fares when the schedule changes in advance?!?
IME, in the past, they would only compensate if it was due to a last-minute aircraft swap. Technically, the AONEx ticket only entitles you to travel in J if there is no F, and there should be no compensation.

If you get an AONEx and an A seat isn't available before you book, you don't get compensation and you end up with a D or L seat.
If an A seat was ticketed, then the equipment changes to have no F cabin, you should get compensation.

Which, of course, means the flexibility that you have paid for in the ticket is also lost. I have flights confirmed in A to BOM. Presumably if I take those flights then I will be offered some compensation (even though it's an AA ticket?) but if I change to different dates then I lose the compensation.
To my mind this is all "bait and switch".

Don't get your hopes up. I took CX416 today to ICN and was upgraded to business class due to a sub from 747 to A330.

I haven't done any re-booking for my invol downgrade yet as I am still thinking about re-routing (that is for some other segments in the middle of the trip which I am thinking of substituting) ... Would be great if the airlines can waive the $125 fee since they would have to re-issue my first sector if I want to get myself back to F.
